^dee adaa dalkii jogee, intaad buug iyo qalin qaadatid, odayaasha so o weydii.

It’s not your typical poem though, more of a narrative describing the similarities between bisadaha and Soomaalida. :D

Its time for new faces...

Younis?

The poets are no spring chickens either but they seem to have grown "more gracefully". Who are the new poets to replace the above names? I can bet my afur some of the poets will announce their retirement at this event and call for new blood to step forward. The question is will the "wailers"?

^^My apologies mate. I get the names wrong mostly, Ayoub :D .

Lol. I know they are not spring chicken themselves but considering their likelihood to retire, they give me hope in Somali old timers. Islaamaha iyo Odeyaasha hees-heesa don't even have the word retirement in their vocab sxb. That worries me.

'Somali Week Festival' Xaddaarad La Soo Raray

Ibraahim Hawd — Sweden — 12 October, 2007

Hargeysa oo ahayd hoyga fanka iyo ilbaxnimada casriga ah ee soomaalidu waxay noqotay god madow oo ay baranbaradu ka cawayso. Darammalkii farxadda iyo bani aadamnimada tusaalaha u ahaa, codkii baxsanaa ee ay hoobballada hibada u lihi xitaa dadka dhintay xabaalaha kaga soo toosin jireen, iyo maansooyinkii awooddoodu dhulka iyo cirka isku xidhi jirtay, intuba maanta waa xaalado dhintay oo xabaasha jiifa. Kol ay ku tahay gole lagu daawado fan masraxeed ma jirto meel keliya oo ilbaxnimo loogu irkadaa. Waxa keliya ee maanta fekerka iyo dareenka dadka saameeyaa waa muranka siyaasad/qabyaaladeed. Waxa weheliya waa dhawaaqyo ka soo baxa marfeshka qayilaadda iyo masjidka tukashada. Hargeysa oo qudha ma aha ee magaalooyinka soomaalida ee la dhex tuban yahay haba yaraatee nolol xaddaaradeed laguma hayo, kamana duwana xeryagaallo iyo xawaallo.

Maya, xaddaarad ummadeed maanta Hargeysa ma taal, Xamar ma taal, Jabbuuti ma taal, degaan kale oo soomaaliyeedna ma taal. Dabadeed "Somali Week Festival" waxay noqotay dhacdo aan u qalmin in ay ka dhacdo dhulka soomaalida. Waa sidaas runtu. Haddii aanay ahayn, bulsho ka kooban dhawr iyo toban malyuun, oo leh ugu yaraan lix maamul-dawladeed, maxaa loo waayey meel keliya oo dhaqdhaqaaq noocan ah ama la mid ahi ka soo ifbaxo? Maxaa loo waayey meel qudha oo ay ka jirto firfircooni dhaqan oo aan ahayn qayilaad iyo muran qabyaaladeed?

Sidaas darteed "Somali Week Festival" waa oog ka shidmi kari wayday dhulka soomaalida, waayo ma joogto cid shidi kartaa. Markaas waa in la raraa; waa in loo raraa dhul carrasan ah oo ay xaddaaradi ka jirto lagana rabo. Halkii ay dabci ahaan dhulalka soomaalidu ahaan lahaayeen hoyga iyo hooyada ilbaxnimada soomaalida, iyo meel taas asal u ah oo loogu noqdo, maanta arrintu waxay ku socotaa sidaas beddelkeeda. Dhaqanka intiisa ugu tayada iyo nolosha rooni waxay ka dhacaysaa qurbaha: haddii ay noqoto qoraal, muusig, masrax iwm. Waxaa muuqanaya oo codkiisa la maqlayaa qofka mugdiga ka soo baxsada ee iftiinka u soo baxa. Abwaanka dalkii ku hadha waxaa la isweydiinayaa in uu nool yahay iyo in uu dhintay, maalinta uu qurbaha isa soo taago ayuuna muuqanayaa. Maalintaas ayaa loo hambalyeynayaa.

Tusaale ahaan sida aynu wada naqaan Xasan-Ganey waa abwaannada soomaalida ee safka hore, waana hormuudka fan-masraxeedka. Hal-abuurkiisu wuxuu caan ku yahay laguna jecel yahay sida uu u yahay dhalad aan dhaqammada kale ku milmin, iyo sida yaabka leh ee uu u sawiro degaanka iyo hiddaha soomaalida. Haddana dhawr iyo tobankii sannadood ee ina dhaafay marar badan baan maqlay dad iswaydiinaya "Xasan-Ganey ma nool yahay?", sababta oo ah wuxuu ku dhex lumay gudcurka dhulka soomaalida ku yuurura. Keligiina ma aha ee tobannaan iyo tobannaan qof oo umadda wax u ahaa ayaan maanta raq iyo ruux meel lagaga warramo la garanayn. Haddaba "Somali Week Festival" inta uu soomaalida faan u yahay in ka badan ayuu umadda ingiriiska faan iyo taariikh u yahay.

Qabashada "Somali Week Festival" waa halyeynimo iyo dadnimo sarraysa. Hawl sidan u weyni dabcan waxay u baahan tahay tamar badan oo loo mideeyo, halkanna tamartaas ayaa ku midawday. Waxaase in gaar loo xuso oo wanaag loo hayo mudan marwo Ayaan Maxamuud Cashuur , taas oo sida muuqata ah gabadh karti lagu mannaystay. Erayga "karti" in lagu soo celceliyo aadna loo dhadhansado ayuu mudan yahay waayo, aniga ogaantay, waa sifo maanta badankeenna la inaga xayuubiyey. Waa la daallan yahay mar haddii tamartii oo dhan lagu bixinayo muran siyaasad/qabyaaladeed kaas oo aan daal maskaxeed mooyee midho kale laga guranayn. Arrintaas darteed run ahaantii dadka soomaalida badankoodu waa ay tabardhigeen, maskax ahaan iyo muruq ahaanna waa hawlgab. Malaha aafadaas ayey Ayaan iyo shakhsiyaadka la midka ahi ka badbaadeen marka ay waxqabadka noocan ah iyo hawlaha sidan u culus u badheedhayaan.

Marka aynu isha marinno magacyada martida u ah bandhigga "Somali Week Festival" waxaynu la yaabaynaa sida intaas oo qof la isugu keenay. Waxaa shanta qaaradood laga soo ururiyey abwaanno, hooballo, qorayaal, jilayaal iyo suxufiyiin kala habqamay oo qofba meel u daadduumay. Bal arag magacyada martida u ah Oxford House culayskooda: Xasan-Ganey, Hadraawi, Gaarriye, Xasan Sh. Muumin, Maxamed D Afrax, Cabdi-Qays, Cabdillaahi Diiriye Guuleed, Aweys Khamiis, Maryan Mursal, Cali-Seenyo, Martin Orwin, Saynab Cige, Raage Oomaar, Yuusuf-Garaad, Dararamle, Faadumo Qaasim, Xudaydi, Nimco Yaasiin...

"Somali Week Festival" oo furmaya 20-ka bishan waa diirrimaad iyo ilays lagu yara illaawi karo mugdiga iyo dhaxanta culus ee dhaqanka soomaalida maanta saaran. Waana fursad gaar ah oo ay reer Biriteyn iyo inta ka qayb gelaysaa nasiib u yeesheen.

Nehanda

I went to the Sunday programme with Ganey, Hadraawi, Gaarriye and Faduma Qasim.

It was well organised and I really enjoyed enough to buy and own a Somali peotry book by these legendary men. The only minor improvement would be to have better refreshments.
