  1. Embarrassed to report couldn't get beyond 6.9 seconds after trying a couple of times i give up.
  2. Technically it is charity on behalf of the Auction Managers not the Businessman unless he would have payed the same $14M regardless of the license plate or the weird fantasy. I applaud relieving vain businessmen of their excess wealth for the cause of charity. the auction manager had a brilliant idea and implemented it successfully......... Great business minds !!!
  3. First incorporating parts of sharia law into British society such as Divorce, inheritance and now Islamic finance this is..........interesting. it's funny that they would choose to comply with sharia law's when they are the ones who are need the money............ would they so readily accept the sharia's stance on interest if they were making the loans ??? Or do they actually recognize that Islamic social, judicial, financial systems are much more superior to what they have now ???
  4. I had a similar question, when I started working in the IT department of a large financial institution. I mainly dealt with Administrating their computer network and servers. I discussed this with the sheikh of the local mosque. As long as you are not involved in the signing or preparation of interest based contractsloans etc. it is not a prob. perhaps someone more knowledgeable in Islam, could offer a more complete explanation
  5. She deserves everything that is coming to her. I heard they reprinted the Danish cartoons again. May they all feel, as desperate and hopeless as she is
  6. I'm now convinced there is something wrong. I have been hearing good thins about this movie for a while now.............. when i finally got to see it. I came out scratching my head, it wasn't the worst movie i have seen, but close to it. absolutely no sense the monologue at the beginning ?? the terrible ending ?? I dont get it, but it seems some do hmmmmmm
  7. I always thought arab and muslim are synonymous untill I met lebanese, I know more non-muslim labanese than muslim. and there is this really nice labanese girl that is my colleague she always Asalaamu alaikum , Mashalaah. A few days ago, she told me she is not muslim but 'durzi' (i'm not sure about the spelling, at least that is how it sounds) . never heard it before. she says it is a combination of Islam,Christianity,Jewish combined. Northner you are in the region, have you heard about that religion ?
  8. A few weeks ago, there was this new virus that only affected homosexuals. the article is funny in that it goes out if it's way, to clarify that this is not a Gay disease. yet the conclusion and the Data in the article are completely contradictory. now can you imagine a western politician saying homosexuals cause diseases by their behavior he/she wouldn't last 5 minutes.
  9. And the Backlash I mentioned earlier has already began. I hope intaas inay ku egtahay Ethnic Affairs Minister Chris Carter has met with members of the Somalian community, following the arrest of a woman over the alleged hijacking of a plane on Friday. He says incidents of name-calling and racial abuse have already been directed at members of the Somali community in Christchurch. Carter met about 35 local Somalis on Saturday evening, hoping to assure them New Zealanders won't judge their entire community on the alleged actions of one woman on a plane on Friday. But it seems local thugs have been getting their word in first. Carter says some of the Somalis complained of people hurling abuse in the street. One woman reported she was shouted at by groups of youths in a car yelling out the word 'terrorist

peasant those books look tempting.... do you have anything related to implementing Asterisk server Jabber server I'm gonna be working on them for an upcoming project, it would be good to get ahead
  11. I used to be a workaholic, now it is just not possible juggling school and a full time job. I am currently working from home, so I do get alot of stuff done, that cannot be done in the office school projects and work related projects side by side. and i don't venture out into the this damn cold weather as much
  12. I think the problem is, we dont agree on what racism actually is. I have a friend who sees racism in everything. you shouldn't tolerate it, but to be so consumed by it you look for it in every word, gesture of someone who is a different race that is crazy and i have noticed this among African Americans much more than those who are raised in africa. I do not consider myself racist, but I would not give my sisters to african america, arab, asian etc. only Somalis may have that honor and yet i have nothing against Asians Muslim, or otherwise. maybe I'm wrong but what exactly do you consider racism because it is a stretch to jump from stuck up, unfriendly to racist.
  13. ^ True. A prime example is polygamy, in the west it is against the law. if you are caught you will be prosecuted. would that make them terrorists ???? some people only have a very narrow way of looking at things.
  14. ilaahay ha u fududeeyo miskiinta. now it is going to be difficult for the average nomad in the streets of NZ in the up coming days as well, iyagana ilaahay ha u fududeeyo. the world has gone backward in the past few years, thins like this could create a mob mentality and provide fuel to people who didn't like somali/muslins to begin with. me I am more concerned about the backlash this will have on other somalis.
  15. Patents are a good indicator of original inventions but not always. but these days, patents are being granted for the most obvious things. the infamous 1-click patent by amazon. 1-Click, also called one-click or one-click buying, refers to the technique of allowing customers to make online purchases with a single click, with the payment information needed to complete the purchase already entered by the user previously ^^ this is not a joke, that is what patents are being granted for these days. for large corporations patents are like arsenal to use against other companies competing with you in the market place to intimidate with. For individual it is a good indicator of an ego problem especially in the academic community makes you look better, and eases you search for Grants. Note: I am only referring to the absurd patents being granted these days. if you have done original research and invented something a patent can help protect you.
  16. That's right A 5th cable has been cut !!! Apparently, Ships Can Drag Anchors from Egypt to Malaysia the link above has a map showing the 5 cables that were cut and their locations. this is beyond belief, but what the hell could they hope to accomplish by cutting they cables ??? Despite what the article says, they cannot cut off Iran from the internet completely. A media blackout cannot be the objective unless they have another way of cutting off communication completely, despite the popularity of the internet. POTS (Plain old telephone system)is still not obsolete. so what is going on ???
  17. A friend just called me from borame says there was a Duufaan (i think it means Tornado) happened in borame today. had devastating affect on the region, but dammit i can't find much info on the web only this article describing the relief efforts by the local people. masiibada qabsatay ilaahay ha ka badbaadiyo
  18. Dhamaan ilaahay ha u naxariisto. my friends wife was caught in this attack, while she was in school, a piece of shrapnel hit her in the eye she can barely see from this eye now. These Damn Xabashi... they will pay for everything ... soon inshalaah
  19. I don't mean we are innately better them Allah created all equal but we are free from many of the social problems they have as a result of our religion. And besides something just burns me when i read these kind of things... especially when the !@#$%^&* had a hand in making our country into what it is today. and the Title of the list should read: "The top 10 Dangerous destinations for Americans ". if that were the title I would be proud to be in #1
  20. ^ seriously did you quote the Original Post from a girls magazine or you actually wrote that yourself ? i don't mean that as an insult bro, but I could never imagine writing that kind of stuff... let alone saying it.... looks like my shukaansi skills need some polishing. then again.......this my first time posting in this region of the SOL country...maybe different rules apply here
  21. These things never happen in somalia COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (AP) - A 15-year-old boy is facing murder charges in the shooting deaths of his parents and two younger brothers in their home in a Baltimore suburb. and CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) -- Police continue to search for a gunman who shot and killed five women Saturday morning at a suburban Chicago strip mall, a Tinley Park police spokesman said these types of stories are common these days. and this is just over the weekend, this time next week I could add probably another 10 similar incidents. granted somalia is a bit unstable but this is a level of craziness we dont have to deal with
  22. ^ true we have our own version of Hamid Karazia back home, not for long inshalaah. Anybody saying Somalia is the most dangerous has not been there in a long time or has never been there... but just listens to this BS that is masquerading as news. I remember one time I happened into a isbaaro right in the middle of bakaaro on my way home from school. these two guys robbed me and my freind. just before they left us i asked him to give us 1000 for bus fare because i lived on the other side of the city.... he gave me and my friend a 1000 shillings each. now imagine getting robbed in america and doing the same thing, crazy trigger happy ***** would probably empty his clip into you. xataa tuugteena waa ka sharaf badanyihiin kuwaan, and they put us on the top of the list.
  23. To add that list. OpenProj is a great Project management software i just recently started using.... has all the conventional tools Gant charts, budget allocation, resource utilization reports, etc.
  24. Dangerous ..... relatively ! these places and most of the world would be dangerous for American. completely their doing and I bet most SOLers have been to more than 1 place on that list. personally I have lived in 3 countries on that list. so it depends on who you are and what you have done to make the world such a dangerous place for you
  25. A third cable has been cut ! and they say likely due to ship Anchor's is anyone else finding this wierd DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--A third undersea fibre optic cable running through the Suez to Sri Lanka was cut Friday, said a Flag official. Two other fiber optic cables owned by Flag Telecom and consortium SEA-ME-WE 4 located near Alexandria, Egypt, were damaged Wednesday leading to a slowdown in Internet and telephone services in the Middle East and South Asia. "We had another cut today between Dubai and Muscat three hours back. The cable was about 80G capacity, it had telephone, Internet data, everything," one Flag official, who declined to be named, told Zawya Dow Jones. The cable, known as Falcon, delivers services to countries in the Mediterranean and Gulf region, he added. "It may take sometime to fix the cut but we are rerouting the traffic to another cable in the U.K. and U.S., the bandwidth utilization will go down," the official said. There are conflicting reports of how the two Alexandria cables were cut. Oman's largest telecom, Omantel, said a tropical storm caused the damage while the United Arab Emirates' second largest telecom, said the cables were cut due to ships dragging their anchors. How likely is a coordinated Anchor accidents from in completely different geographical locations ?? to the SOLers in the region, is this third cut affecting you as bad the first two ?
