  1. How can you talk so knowledgeably about the women of the 60s Oba? Iam assuming you weren't around, are you just going on stories etc and just romanticising the period?

What women wear is not that important, it's much more important that they are given freedom to play a part in all areas of society.

  2. hehe, *imagining the girls' faces if Ng had shared his Yemeni coming of age ritual. I can't help feeling for the future wife in all this madness, where is she suppose to look? :D

There was this guy pushing 50 in the paper the other day, complaining that he felt "ageless" that his father had felt grown up at 22, with a wife, kids and a mortage to work off. This guy had 2 small kids, a rented flat and was saying he still did not feel like an adult. It was quite ironic that he looked like an old man.

I haven't read what you guys have said, but just because it's a mixed marriage doesn't mean it's gonna fail any more than a pure somali one. It depends on the two people and whether or not they are patient enough to deal with the challenges as they will experience on average a lot more problems than a pure somali couple.

Thanks for typing this so I don't have to Hatuu. Gg, you make some valid points but you ruin them with your childishness and intolerance. I really don't see why you're so angry at sisters who decide to marry non-somalis, it's their life and their marriage, what they demand of their future husbands' is their own business.

  4. Monday can't be sugar coated, it's too blooming miserable. I'd rather leave Thursday and begin the week with Tuesday. All the Tories look alike to me, i am sure they're all related.

  5. ^ That's a bit mean, to make those sisters wear white :D

From my experience the girl's family is usually not happy about the choice of partner and the nikah is rushed through when the girl digs her heels in. (All the more power to her I say, the only problem is if it ever goes through, you have about 20 family members bleating we told you so)

I find it wierd when brides in Somali wear the white dress. There are georgeous white dresses out there but it's always a bit predictable and you need to be about a size 0 to pull it off. :D

  6. Looks very suffocating, blooming hell, it would be more interesting to also plot his wife's level of "peace" or "quality of life" as he sent her his 1000th text of the week. All this attention, even with the best intentions can become a little insincere if you're just trying to tick a box at the end of the day.

Haha, don't be discouraged XX, you should open up your little beach cafe and sell hot dogs and icecream, and watch the dkhan celis flood in. Next time I am back home, I need to head for the beach iA.
