  1. Does it really matter? No one will be good enough for our country because Somalis are people that judge each other based on ancestry rather than merit. Regardless of who becomes the next “president”, qualified or not, will not succeed into remaking Somalia the country it once was, because we have small-minded people who can’t go pass the century old trabilistic hostility. I wonder what the future holds for this nation….?
  2. Khayr: No one would go through all that trouble just to show someone how clever they’re. People do things according to their self-interest, if you find yourself not interested in this particular topic, simply do not comment on it.
  3. well said jawahiir I withdrew my juvenile optimism of seeing Ms. Somalia in these beauty pigeon contests, It’s immoral and unislamic. I should not be going around and encouraging beautiful Somali women to expose their beautiful body to some perverted men. This is a western idea and it’s one of those things that we Somalis should not adopt, it’s morally wrong. I guess I am going to have to shop around, any volunteers!
  4. Well said Thunder, you concluded well dude. Hate has no place in Islam, If you disagree with the policy of Isreal, you shouldn't be going around condemning all jews. There are many jews who disagree with the policy of Ariel Sharon, do you hate them too? We should be very careful about generalizing and demonizing people because of their ethnicity, isn't that what we're accusing of the FBI? Let's stay off this dangerous rhetoric.
  5. Why Turkey and not Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia?Turkey lies uncomfortably between Europe and Asia and this is evident in many ways. Americais pushing the e.u. to make Turkey part of europe, admitting turkey into e.u. will help improve relations with the muslim and middle eastern countries. Forget about the economic, political, military or historic reasons, the majority of Turks do not feel European. Likewise, the majority of Europeans do not see Turks as Europeans either. Shame on the Turks if they believe that Turkey has place in Europe
  6. You got it all wrong bro! The region which has the prettiest women in somalia is BUULO HAAWO. You can find hot chicks in there. Generally speaking though we do have good looking sisters. I know what you're all gonna say, "there's more to us than just our looks" well, I can't disagree with you there, I also like a woman who can cook, It's extremely important to me.
  7. Turkey has long been waiting for to get in to the european union. The problem with this is that the e.u. is a christian circle, they will not allow a muslim country to join. They will of course be diplomatic and make more demands which are impossible to meet. Having a muslim country at its midst, secular or not, is a scary prospect for many europeans. Turkey is a torn country which doesn't belong to the east or the west, and Turkey will continue to be humiliated as long as She seeks u.e. membership. Turkey eventually will align itself with the muslim countries because of neccesity.
  8. Hey I already admitted I was a bit of a pervert, but that doesn't make me a bad person. I know this Jamaican guy and whenever a somalian girls walk by he literally drools. You see according to many, somalian women are the most beautiful women on earth(I may be exaggerating here, but that's how I feel)
  9. Hey I am not a self-hating Somali, I am just stating the facts here. Discussing the predicament of Somalia is a constructive and there is nothing bad that can come out of it, so cool this empty rhetoric. Where is my bro Che Guevere? mr. Che set these guys straight maaaan we need you here.
  10. Call me a pervert but the idea of having Ms. Somalia really appeals to me. Nasra we should talk more about this. I know a lot of hot chicks in Toronto and they're all waiting to be discov- ered.
  11. I would personally invest in that, I want to see the beauty pegeant of somalia to be held in toronto. A lot of hot chicks in there, sizzzzlingggg hooot. But i know who will win...
  12. Che, you concluded it very well. There is this common notion in the eyes of many somalis in the west, that somalia is utterly hopeless and can not be constructed anytime soon and that Somalia will continue to be in this state of anarchy for years to come. The somalis back hope look to us as a source of hope and we continue to dissa-point them. The people are unsentimental because of the hard conditions over the long period of the civil war. I think one thing that's keeping us back is our traditional way of thinking, the nomad way of thinking. I think it's a genes that we have borrowed from our fore-fathers. It's colture that isn't progressive and the change has to come from those western educated somalis.
  13. I agree with Che in the sense that we sometimes do preach self-hate, but you have to know bro Somalis haven't done anything that can remotely be considered constructive. All we have done in the last 12 years is destroy our home and we show no signs of ever going back to the sovereignty somalia once enjoyed. I don't know if Somalia can be constructed in the forseeable future to make it fit for its inhabitants. The people back home lack any kind of vision which would inhabit them of getting indulging in this cycle of endless civil war. Most of us are scattered all over the world as a result of our actions. That's why the somali youth in the west can't show any respect for our traditions, that's why they want to point out the short-coming of our way of doing things.
  14. I lived in ottawa for ten years and never did i encounter with somalis i didn't like. I lived in other cities in canada as well, and i think the ottawan somalis are the most uptight somalis in canada. The somalis in ottawa are organized and are by far the most constructive somalis in north america, so being uptight maybe is a trait that comes with working hard...

  18. Well it's a part of the process. No one should fear aging, we should embrace it. I also had planns but you know nothing in life goes as you planned, so the best thing to do is just do ur darn best. The life expectancy in north america is rather long, fear not my nomad fellows....
  19. Now what's with the need to generalize all somalis? Why do somalis always do that? Listen people are different, the somalis have different of opinions just like the rest of the world. If you're trying to say somalis are corrupt...u know i am gonna have to agree with you, we're corrupted. We do many other things beside that: We kill, rape, confiscate people's property, but we don't drink..!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I would pick Sayyid Abdullah Hassan for the greatest Somali ever live. The reason why he is my #1 choice has many unaccountable reasons. Sayyidka was a man of vision, he was ahead of his time and no one at his time knew where he was going with his campaigns. The Somalis were mostly nomads and as nomads, they wanted life to be as simple as it can be. Sayyidka displayed vision that was unprecedented at his time and to fulfill his dream of free Somalia, he had to resort to questionable methods, which later has caused damage to his legacy. That is why we should cherish this man and everything he stood for.
  21. The reason why we mostly side with the Arabs is that there is this historical connection that bonds Arabs and the Somalis, there's also the religious factor which in my mind is the deciding factor of the strong pro Arabians phenomenon. I don't know if you know this but the Somalis identify themselves more with the Arabs than they do with their fellow Africans, it's always been that way. I don't see that changing anytime soon.
  22. you uninformed bunch of nomads! Somalis are somalis. This topic has been talked about for years, and it never gets better. The reason why somalis want to be arabs is that they hold a deep rooted inferiority complex which they do not wish to display. Let's just focus on the future and never talk about this non-sense topic. Talking about where somalis originated from is futile and counter-productive. As somalis we should be discussing about the well-being of our suffering brethren. the nomad has spoken
