  2. Ayoub I don't think a Masjid is a ideal place to discuss this sort 'somalism' politics whether people like Samatar are involved or not. Doing wrongs is one thing, doing them in a Masjid is another, don't you think? sxb the person who invited the prof. is good friend of mine and he is Islamist. When I asked whether he was aware the odd views of the prof. he told me he didn't but wasn't also apologetic about his choice. The host beliefs Islam is not defensive religion and can take all its critics. He also beliefs that early Muslims used mosques as places to have discussions, plan wars, even non believers used to come and see the prophet {PBUH}. The lecture didn't took place inside the mosque but an adjacent hall where Muslims us every think including weddings. The guy repeated that he was Muslim and proud to be one. He also said that was going to china to give lectures about Islamic civilization. So I don't think he is atheist but he confessed he was secularist.
  3. Alla maxaa darbiyada la'isla dhacayaa! The simple question for so-called realist here is this. Why reject seventy odd ministers only to accept ninety so? I can't understand how that parliament full of illiterate made their calculations. Checking my old math’s notes I couldn't find any formula for this kind of calculations. Maybe when they ate few portions of DAAFI every think made sense. No one is more patriotic or wadani then anyone else in this forum so stop lecturing how to be a patriot. Horn Qudhac why don't we give you the title of wasiirka af-kanoolnimada..? You wrong sxb. Brother maybe is too happy to become minister for Dreamland i have a dream.. that one day....
  4. Golaha Baarlamaanka Soomaaliya ayaa maanta isku raacay in Golaha Wasiirada Soomaaliya Noqdaan 91 Xubnood They rejected 74 and accepted 91
  5. Smith Prof. Samater said almost everything in the article. It seemed to me at the time he was too relaxed about his religious beliefs which none of us contemplated before. He praised early Islamic culture, arts, philosophy and Civilization in general. He also said he was ready to have discussion about existence of live after death with anyone in public. African It’s only sad how his hard work on his nephew went to waste. Also he and his brother trash the tribe of their uncle (and mother) every opportunity they get, how disrespectful (biting the hand that fed them). I don't know what he said in other lectures but this one he praised his reer abti for giving him the good work ethos. He modeled Gabilay where his uncles raised him as excellent example of how Somali people can work together as "Tol" (which he explained as society consisting on everyone who lives the town). He even told us the name of the tribe that his mother from. He said mosque was the pillar of that society and after Friday prayer the entire town would gather to discuss pressing issues. He discouraged "Qabiil", which he described as ego men descended from one grandfather. He also praised former PM of Somalia Abdirisak H. Hussien for his good bureaucratic ability when he employed un-proportional number of skilled civil servants from northern Somalia in his government despite huge resistant from southern politicians. Any moment during his lecture I haven’t felt he disrespected his mother or uncles. This Samatar guy, his people hate him the most, but I see that the Somaliweyn camp will invite anyone to speak in the house of Allah at all cost as long as he’s preaching their massage, how sad indeed. He didn't preach Somaliweyn but he preached working together Somalis in Diaspora despite their backgrounds and I think that was positive message. Since early 1990s Somalis of all views were invited to this mosque for the benefit of the Somali community in UK. I have seen many Somali intellectuals who would never attend a mosque let alone pray in it come and join the masses when the found out how civilized were the people who invited them and their audience. The difference this time was the organisers were different and didn't know the procedure of inviting someone to give a lecture in the mosque. Normally if the lecture is too sensitive the venue will probably be outside the mosque. I think the magazine that organised the lecture needed attention, know they got it but maybe wrong one.
  6. Prof. Ahmed Samater put one of rare lectures on Somali situation both in and outside Somalia. He also gave lot of ideas about how to improve the lives of Somali community in UK and the contributions that the Somali community in diaspora can make to our homeland Somalia. The only problem was the venue, which was a mosque and the organisers (Hiraal magazine) who lack wisdom. The Prof. admitted he was Secularist, which explains the few sentences that spoiled the brilliant lecture. I don't agree with him with his position on religion but I was totally with him almost everything else his lecture.

  9. Kii noo hagaagee Noqo loo hanween yahay.
  10. I think the stage is of pepet is well gone, the current parliament, President, and the prime minister is led, owned and ordered by the Ethiopian Government. That's why they demand full control of who will be in Gedi's government.
  11. Does Democracy, justice, Bare’s court system etc ring any bells?
  12. As they say a picture worth 1000 words. Ironic is't it?
  13. And you forgot the influence and stirring control by the Ethiopian Government Jama I didn't forget but left on propose. Is there anyone on right mind that didn't know that dimension? Bro it is sidee xeego lagu xagtaa ilkana ku nabadgalaan.
  14. Sax, the second round will not disappoint the Somali masses, insha Allah Last time I was so gutted to see the government voted out even before the appointment of the ministers had finished. Lets hope this time the president, the MP and the parliament all work together to achieve consensus so the government can move back home where they can do real difference, Insha Allah.

This shows when the president, the prime minister, parliament, few dollar notes put together things can workout smoothly. Lets hope will score similar number in his second round meeting with the parliament.
  16. Its wonderful news when regions start focusing their resources and how to improve them I hope them success. Gedo has Juba River and once, although not finished had one of the biggest developments in the country -Juba Valley development that included electric and water canals designed to feed into Bay and Bakool region. Although I never been in Gedo but my dad had another family in Bardheere and he liked the place too much.

  18. i wonder if the international community will help him find a city. Why you not suggest one? Maybe Bureo! I'm sure its safe and he can revive its economic dynamic before the civil war.
  19. Its not about giving people ministers its about the visiona and political ability one has. I don't think that is the case; vision and ability are not the words that associated with our parliament. If Gedi failed so did the president who appointed him in the first place and the parliament as well. The problem goes beyond Mr. Gedi, its inability for the Somali so called somali political leaders to compromise and also act as an independent from their foreign mentors. I don't see how anyone can convince 275 people whom their personal interest (almost all want to become a minister) to vote for government that can have maximum of 80-100 ministers/their juniors (any less may work perfectley but won't get support from the mps). I don't know how on earth he can find the necessary votes if there are no political parties, no united tribes, no interest groups etc.
  20. Dagaalkan oo ka bilowday agagaarka Beexaani ayaa ka bilowday labo maliishiyo oo kala taabacsan C/qaadir Beebe iyo dhalinyarada degmada Shibis oo garab ka helayey ganacsato uu hormuud u yahay nin lagu magacaabo Cabdi Cadde, iyadoo uu dagaalkaasi geystay khasaaro dhimasho iyo dhaawac isugu jira, iyadoo in ku dhow 6 qofood ay ku naf weyday halka in ka badan sagaal qof ay ku dhaawacmeen. Allaha u naxariisto dadka ku geeriyooday this senseless war underpinned by greed of some so called business people. Tragic! Even before Gedi comes to the parliament for vote of confidence, another warlord is born in the name of Cabdi Cadde. It wasn't that far when warlord Beebe was born in similar circumstances. It won't take long before they remand place in the parliament. I wonder whether the problem is these individuals or they are by product of our culture which is more receptive in warlord ship.
  21. He will survive if he only awards ministerial posts to each and every MP in the exiled parliament
  22. Most of the people in NFD that I come across during my stay in Kenya are interest neither joining Somalia nor independence from Kenya. They actually and the most of the time talked about increasing their influence in the Kenyan politics, getting full rights in the constitution, more development, equal representation in Kenyan parliament and so forth. I was surprised to hear, their opinion about who they are and what their desire was, given what I was told back home in Somalia (how they dying to join Somalia). I also found out the different attitude sometimes hostile they have about people from Somalia and Somalia as a country. It was totally different attitude that most of people from region 5 (as Og-Girl would like to be called) have about Somali people which is always positive. Although NFD was part of territories that Somali ethnic people used to settle before the birth of nation states i.e. Somalia, Djibouti and to less extent Somaliland, at the moment NFD is part of Kenya. It’s also absurd for many people in NFD to even suggest joining Somalia or Somalia coming to their rescue. Isn’t it strange for people who their constitution written by Kenyan professionals (supposed to be enemy of NFD) who also their parliament operates from Doofaareey are even talking about a greater Somalia that includes some independent countries. So be realistic and concentrate keeping what is left from the old Somali state and forget NFD.
  23. Siyad barre didn't rectify this conversion not because he didn't spare some one to fulfil all technicalities but he did on purpose. He was getting military support from the US and didn't feel to isolate her. What happen to children's rights for all those countries that rectified the convention but haven't done anything for them? E.g. most of African countries that slave children? What about Brazil that her security forces kill children daily or sex slave in Asia. At least this time Somalia was honest about the children’s rights.
  24. never been or even seen anyone from that place but indeed its very beautiful. Raxmada eebe waa in aanu ugu mahad celinaa. Allow u kordhi inta aan heysana sii.
