  1. I would select Nur. Definition: Light Hardly for it's literal meaning but for the role played by the person who has chosen this screen-name. A very approriate name for someone who has taken on himslef the duty of trying to guide people (Muslims and non-Muslims alike) to keep away from the Naar (hellfire) and strive towards the Nur (Noor-Light). "Allah is the Noor (Light) of the heavens and the earth. The similitude of His Noor (Light) is as a niche where there is a lamp. The lamp is in a glass. The glass is as a shining star. (This lamp is) kindled from a blessed tree, an olive neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself) though no fire touched it. Noor (Light) upon Noor (Light), Allah guides to His Noor (Light) whom He will. And Allah speaks to mankind in allegories, for Allah is knower of all things. (Suratul-Nur 24:35)

  3. Three goals were scored at the Nou Camp, all by Barcelona players Mourinho has for the first time in his managerial career lost TWO games in a row, not bad eh? But Portugal that feat isn't that difficult for a Porto coach in Portuguese League, they only win the league every year for the past 20 years or so), that explains why he didn't have the courage to speak to the reporters after the match. He decided to b*itch about Rijkaard talking to the ref., something he tried to do with Ferguson at Old Trafford. The ego has landed at Barcelona, and has been slaughtered by the Catalans! Rossoneri beat Man U at Old Trafford, amazing game, watched every minute of it The English commentators sounded very suprised at Milan's (offensive) approach to the game, they expected them to play defensively and hope to win the reurn leg (stereotype of italian football). They probably haven't seen Milan play before, yaa usheega they play the same way, home and away. How else could they have won four Champions League titles in the last 16 years (1989,1990,1994,2002). They probably mistook them with Juve, the team that loves the finals Inter...still drawing...they must be given an award for drawing every week. Haven't lost in 38 games though, in all competitions. Lyon is just damn amazing! Everyone seems to underestimate them and the germans did too tonite. Will they manage to hold on to the likes of Essien and Juninho next year if they go far in the Champions League this year? Doubt it, they'll probably move to a bigger club. England 4 teams - 1 won - 3 lost Italy 3 teams - 1 won - 1 drew - 1 lost Germany 3 teams - 1 won - 2 lost Spain 2 teams- BOTH teams won Home advantage? Or are the Spanish and Italian teams better than the Premier League sides? Time will tell...
  4. Never thought I too would be excited to see snow didn't last long though.

The first squad was captained by a Cesare Maldini and the second by his son Paolo Maldino, the only father son to win Champions League as captains for the same club. England has been good to AC Milan, I hope it continues... Gunners don't have Sol and may play without Cole...setback! But Edu is back and he can help Arsenal a lot. Totti, Good to see you back, where the heck have u been?
  6. We had ten Somalis, five males and five females, doing 8 different courses. Gender ratio couldn't be more balanced.
  7. raula, I told you about this dude some time back in this thread and even gave you a link(s) where you can hear his songs...he is called Mr Ebbo. Look at page 2 of this thread.
  8. Looking forward to see the game...AC Milan seems to have contributed the most "stars" Dida (Bra/AC Milan) Cafu (Bra/AC Milan) Alessandro Nesta (Ita/AC Milan) Paolo Maldini (Ita/AC Milan) Kakhaber Kaladze (Geo/AC Milan) Kaka (Bra/AC Milan) Andrei Shevchenko (Ukr/AC Milan)
  9. Amazing! I read about him a couple of months ago but couldn't find anything about him on the net.
  10. Originally posted by $187$: Viking, what do youy mean by that? You seriously think they are going to beat us at Highbury? Their best bet to win is in the first leg, arsenal are away and without sol campbell. 187, I thought the first leg was at Highbury. Things might turn out different...Arsenal's perfomance against C Palace was astonishing tonite and they seem to have regained their form at the right time! But they probably wouldn't score as many goals against a strong opposition like Bayern (please don't mention the Inter game, lol, that's a one time thing). Bayern have been top of Bundesliga and playing well, but they lost 3-1 this weekend to Armenia Befield (wrong spelling probably) which is a mid-table team. But I still think Bayern will win at Olympic Stadium and get a draw at Highbury. I say this because Arsenal's away form in the CL is deplorable and Bayern play almost equally well home and away (head says Bayern heart says Gunners).
  11. I want Liverpool to loose blad, That lil pra*t Gerrald is being over-rated. Soma Inc, He's the only world-class player at Liverpool and can get a place in any team in the world. I think him and Lampard are the best two central midfielders in England but it's a pity they can't play well together, they are way too similar to be on the same side. As for the CL results, this is how I think it'll go... Arsenal V Bayern - Leg1 Draw Leg2 Bayern win - Bayern through Man Utd V Milan - Leg1 Draw + Leg2 AC win - AC thru Juve V Madrid - Leg1 Juve win Leg2 Real win - Juve thru L'pool V Bayer - Leg1 L'pool Win Leg2 Bayer win - L'pool thru Chelsea V Barca - Chelsea Win Leg1 Barca Win Leg2 - Barca thru (just like the last time they met) Porto V Inter - Leg1 Inter win Leg2 Draw-Inter thru Werder V Lyon - Leg 1 Werder win Leg2 Lyon win- Lyon thru PSV v Monaco - Leg1 PSV win Leg2 Monaco win - PSV thru

FemmeFatale, I think it's Groucho Marx who said, "Behind every successful man is a woman, behind her is his wife". Besides, there is no "men's section" so this is open for pretty much everyone.
  13. lol @ anteno and sorora. I haven't heard those words for a long time, they're classics. I wonder what antenos are called nowadays in Nairobi..
  14. Originally posted by $187$: I think we should invest in a top notch defender and goalie and what better investment than Gregory Coupet(Lyon) and Lucio(Bayer). Seen as they are vying to go to a big club. Viking bro, it all started going wrong when campbell got an injury and he wasnt forced off until 20 mins later. I think this is the only match where I have to blame the goalkeeper and it was solely his responsibility for letting in that crucial almost devil-like third goal. 187, I think Arsenal's back four are as good as any out in Europe. They had the best defensive record last season and could play well in any club. The problem arises when one of them is injured, the subs aren't good enough to cover the back when the regulars get injured. If they are after a goalie, I'd recommend Italy, they have the best goalies in the world. Cuducini, Toldo, Buffon, Abiati, Peruzzi etc. They have the best! Things didn't go wrong when Campbell got the injury, he gifted them with the second goal when he gave the ball to Scholes, remember? ManU scored two goals when he was on the pitch and two more after he left injured. Almunia also gifted them with the third goal, so ManU actually "worked" for two of the four goals. The midfield doesn't look the same either. If I were Wenger, I'd sell Vieira and Pires to the highest bidders and buy two other midfielders to complement the hard-working Edu, Gilbero, Flamini, Ljungberg and Fabregas. Arsenal needs one creative midfielder (likes of Totti, Scholes, Kaka or Nedved) and one defensive midfielder who has a work-ethic similar to Makelele of Chelsea. If they want to compete with the best, they have to flex their muscles on the market and buy some top players since there's a new boy in town (Abrahamovic). This would be difficult becasue they are cash-strapped and investing heavily in their new stadium. So don't be suprised if next season becomes turns out like this one.
  15. Favourite Clubs 1. AC Milan 2. Barcelona 3. Ajax I support these three for their philosphy of football; total football. National 1. Cameroon 2. Holland 3. Brazil 4. Czech republic These four teams are capable of beating any team, any time, in style. Stars Current 1. Ronaldinho (Barcelona, Brasil) 2. Shevchenko (Milan, Ukraine) 3. Xavi (Barcelona, Spain) 4. Emerson (Juventus, Brazil) 5. Zlatan (Juventus, Sweden) 6. Makelele (Chelsea, France) 7. Gillardino (Parma, Italy) 8. Maldini (Milan, Italy) - Still on top of his game despite playing as a regular for Milan for 20 years!!!! He has tackled some of the best players ever, from different generations; like Platini, Maradona, Romario, Zidane, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho etc etc.
  16. Originally posted by SoMa_InC: Do you seriously think that Drogba is worth £20 mil +? Dont get me wrong, he is a class player but what they paid for him is over the limit. Anyways you were right when you said Chelsea has the best keepers in the League. Did you see how Petr Cech performed yesterday? On his 1st season in the Premier League, he made history! He broke Schmicheal's record by going 781 minutes without conseading a goal. Do you know that during the whole season Chelsea conseaded only 8 goals. Damn. That is something we are proud of. Soma Inc., Drogba is worth the money Chelsea paid for him, and if they hadn't bought him, a list of other top clubs were willing to sign him. He has scored 11 goals so far but has been injured and also not used all the time. They seem to prefer to play five midfielders and one forward, which means that Drogba and Gudjohnson are rarely on the field together. Peter Cech could have conceded far more goals if he didn't have the best defence of the Premiership in front of him. Plus, they have the best holding midfielder, in Makelele, who is like a fifth defender. As for Arsenal, it wasn't suprising that they were beaten by Man U, again! There are various reasons besides the lack of confidence that has made Arsenal vulnerable this season. Kolo Toure who has been superb (since he was converted from a forward to a central defender) for them wasn't present, Campbell and Alminia also gifted Man U with a goal a piece, Vieira is not the player he once was and Henry hasn't scored for a long time. These factors combined led to their downfall at the battle of Highbury. PS: No one in his right mind can deny that Chelsea are the best side in Europe today.
  17. BOB, Ronaldo is a good player but a primadonna. He is the type who are quiet the whole game only to pounce a loose ball 10 mins before time and become the "hero". His choice of Real Madrid suits him because he has players who can feed him, unlike Dinho who feeds others and fisnishes himself. Maradona made a BIG difference at Napoli and in whichever team he played with, Ronaldo as good as he is could never do that for a team. As for Milan, lol, I don't know what's hapenning to them. They have lost to two lowly teams in a row, but sxb don't you dare compare the second greatest side of Europe to Arsenal They are not even in the same "league". But there are some similarities, Milan is the only team in Italy that has played a whole season without losing Serie A is far from decided, Juve still have return legs at San Siro with Milan and with Inter at Della Alpi. Juve are winning but aren't playing that well, remember their game against Milan? Milan was the classier team. But hey, Capello is capable of doing wonders so I won't be suprised if they hold on to win the title. As for superstitions, no one beats Veron. He has a white tape under his right knee which he never plays without. Coincidentaly, the ONE time he played without it, he broke his leg! At Chelsea Man U Argentina Inter Milan Parma
  18. Nur, Do these two things have any support among the four Madhabs and the Ja'fari? - Daily prayers MUST be offered in congregation - It is obligatory for a man to grow a beard They are said to have been later innovations that differ from the Hanbali school of thought. sayfulaah, You are right! Muslims believe that Nabi Muhammad PBUH is held to be the most revered human to have trodded earth. His duty was to lead humanity unlike other Prophets and Messengers who were assigned to their people.

    salaafiyyah?

Da’wah Salafiyah ( the call to the madhab of the Salaf us Salix) is essentially inviting and calling every muslim to leave off every group, parties and Thoughts while requesting them adhere to the Quran and Sunnah construed by the Salaf Us Salih. Wasn't AbdulWahhab al-Najdi himself a Hanbali?
  20. Baashi, I quite agree with the parallels the author has drawn when comparing the two.
  21. I think the number issue is seen to be somewhat old-fashion in today's football. It was amusing to see Zamorano (who wore no. 9 for Chile and probably even when playing for Real Madrid) not wanting to settle for less and wore 1+8 at Inter. It's not the number that decides how good you are, but it's always nice to see a great player wear a number 10.

  23. Thanks SIRRUS, a good read indeed. The problems in Denmark got worse when far right Folkeparti gained many votes from Danes through their anti-Islamic campaign. In one poster, they had an Arab-looking man wearing a cimaamad the way hamas activists do with blood dripping from the waepon in his hand. And the poster read..."Do you want this to happen in Denmark?"
