  1. Euro 2008 is far-away but the qualifiers is thrilling to watch. So far, England got a hammered by Croatia, Scotland are leading their group and the world champions, Italy got an easy win against Georgia.

Here is an update of the results:

    Andorra 0-3 FYR Macedonia

    Belarus 4-2 Slovenia

    Bosnia-Herzegovina 0-4 Greece

    Croatia 2-0 England

    France 5-0 Faroe Islands

    Georgia 1-3 Italy

    Holland 2-1 Albania

    Iceland 1-2 Sweden

    Kazakhstan 0-2 Finland

    Liechtenstein 0-4 Denmark

    Luxembourg 0-1 Bulgaria

    Malta 2-1 Hungary

    Northern Ireland 1-0 Latvia

    Poland 2-1 Portugal

Rep of Ireland 1-1 Czech Republic

    Russia 2-0 Estonia

    Serbia 3-0 Armenia

    Slovakia 1-4 Germany

    Turkey 5-0 Moldova

    Ukraine 2-0 Scotland

    Wales 3-1 Cyprus

PS: Is Steve McClaren the right man for the job? Should David Beckham be recalled to the National team? England's setup was not convincing, the 3-5-2 system does not suit their play and they lack the passion and hunger to win. The likes of Rooney and Lampard should be dropped as they are not performing at the moment. Don't get me wrong they are both exceptional players but their form is in question.

Scotland on the other hand were unlucky yesterday but their performance against France was exciting to watch. They were playing for pride and Walter Smith deserves exceptional credit for what he has done for Scotland.

    Cmon, share your views.

  3. ^^^^Why you hating brother? Stop the hate and start to appreciate and congratulate Ashley Cole for what he has done for Arsenal.

He is the best left back in the Country and his sexuality has nothing to do with his talent. I remember the News of the World once reported that the likes of Ljumberg and Sol Campbell were chichi mans but that is not the point.

Arsenal got the best deal, £5 million with Gallas, I think Sir Abramovich's money is being misused. Peter Kenyon is disgrace.

  4. France are world class team but with the departure of the likes of Zidane, Thuram, Makelele, Barthez, Wiltord, Pires, Trezeguet and Viera would be a big test. Some of this players have retired and others are about to follow their suit and they are all considered as the core of the French Team.

I still rate them as the best team in the world right now.

  5. Salaam Northerner and W11.

Bring on Barca, we are the only team that can beat them. They are looking good defensively with the thier new signing; Lilian Thuram and Zambrota and as usual their midfield and attacks are amazing but I think Chelsea and them will qualify to the next round.

Can Arsenal beat CSKA Moscow and Porto, lets watch and see.

Man Utd Vs Benfica will be a good to watch as well as Lyon and Real Madrid.

I think Liverpool can cruise easily to next round.

Once again Thanks for the Topic W11. Appreciated.

  6. Asalaam Aleikum Brothers/Sisters? I hope everyone is doing well.

The season started yesterday, Liverpool and ArsenaL drew their games, Chelsea on the verge of making history once again, Man Utd trashed Fulham....lets get ready to rumble...Here are the results:

    Arsenal 1 - 1 Aston Villa

    Bolton 2 - 0 Tottenham

    Everton 2 - 1 Watford

    Newcastle 2 - 1 Wigan

    Portsmouth 3 - 0 Blackburn

    Reading 3 - 2 Middlesbrough

    Sheff Utd 1 - 1 Liverpool

    West Ham 3 - 1 Charlton

    Chelsea 3 - 0 Man City

    Man Utd 5 - 1 Fulham

  7. Just like Viking, I was also rooting for the three lions but I wont say they let me down. As a team with 10 players against an offensive side, I think they did well. The defense was superb and players like Terry, Rio, Ashley Cole and Owen Hargraves had good game.

Owen Hargraves was by far the best player on the pitch. He never deserved to be on the loosing team. He proved his critics wrong and I would love to see him play the Euro 2008 Inshallah.

Viking, I also agree that Lampard never had a good world cup and so was Beckham. Sven was scared to drop them and the other big mistake he did was not selecting the likes of Defoe and Bent but I still dont blame him, there are other people that pick the England squad aka FA.

The English media is scared from the truth, Wayne Rooney lost us the game. If I was a manager I will drop him for life, he can never be counted on. If it was not his red card, England had a 90% chance of going through. But as usual someone else has to be the scapegoat and it is Ronaldo who is on the receiving end.

The current English players has the potential of winning the Euro 2008 but with the new Manager, I think the writings are on the wall.

  8. The English media are ungrateful to Sven. With every Manager, sometimes his tactics were questionable but it seems like they forgot the memories of beating Argentina twice and most of all trashing Germany 5-1.

He was not my cup of tea in the first place and so is Steve McLaren. He was his assistant, what do they expect him to do? I guess the writing is on the wall.

England has a good squad full of talented players who can be world beaters anytime but they need a good Manager. Big Phil would have been ideal for the job but he rejected it because of the English media. Just look at how the media portrayed Owen Hargraves when he was picked for the world cup and see how he answered his critics wrong against the Portugal game. He was far the best English player on the pitch.

  9. As I predicted, France won!

Zidane was class, Veira was exceptional, the likes of Makelele, Gallas, Thuram, Sangol, Ribery were briliant!

Brazil are full induvidual players but it wasn't their day.

My next prediction: Final Germany vs France...I dont know which team will win as any team that comes to a final has a chance.

  10. ^^^lol

He is such a talent but the problem is his attitude. No one disputes his talents and he acknowledges that Managers consider his attitude more than his football.

He was superb for Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool but I had he moved to Turkey to practise religion. I wish him all the best of luck in the future.

  11. ^^^France has a better chance of doing the double against Brazil. Then winning against England in the semis and playing the finals agaist Germany. It will be a great way for the likes of Zidane, Makelele, Barthez, Viera and the rest of the ageing generation to hang up their boots from international football.

  12. Ghana outplayed the Brazilians but they lacked finishing. The likes of Stephen Appiah and Mukhtari had the midfield on lockdown but those one touches were never accurate. Brazil never threatened but when they did, they scored. That was diffrence between the two teams.

But still there is another African team to support, FRANCE. The racist and arrogant Arogones, the Spanish Manager is sent home. What a looser! Henry is having the last laugh.

  13. Aragones, the Spanish Manager is ARROGANT!

Zidane and the French team were class! Henry is having the last laugh....Did you see how Arogones was disrespecting Viera?

Ghana is out but at least there is another African team to support. :D

  14. I have been rooting for the Aussies but they did let me down big time. Italy were one man down and have been defending magnificently and were depending on the counter attack and it seems like it worked for them. The Aussies on the hand, never capitalised on the advantage of having the extra man. They kept the ball but never frustrated the likes of Canavaro, Gatuso and Zambrota.

Even though the penalty is debatable, I think the collectiveness of the Italian team were worthy of a good result.

The Aussies should now be proud to have reached the second round and may be this will be the start of a football era for them. :D
