    Great game indeed! Essien's goal is a contender for goal of the season. He could have had at least 3 or 4 goals. As I predicted, Arsenal suprised us and they even suprised the likes of Merson who envisaged them to lose.

     

    I am so proud of Chelsea, very very proud. Essien, Ashley Cole, Robben, Makelele, Lampard and the rest of the team were outstanding except that useless and disaster waiting to happen aka Hilario; any good goalkeeper should have saved that goal.

     

    You will never see me complimenting Arsenal, but the young guns were superb and Gilberto was magnificent.

     

    What is your opinion on Drogba and Lehman's Stance.

    Bob you got it all wrong Sxb! Henry was never a world class player and not the greatest player ever to grace the Premier League.

     

    What happened to the likes of Zola, he is the greatest player ever to grace the Premier League.

     

    Henry is an average overrated player. He never performs against big teams and has big attitude which stinks. I prefer to watch Arsenal when he is not playing. He now wants to be sold to Barcelona but when Papa Eto is back, he is going to warm up the bench.

     

    I had a huge admiration for Arsene Wenger when he said, 'nobody can expect to get back to the team after an injury'. :D Henry should rot on the bench and the likes of Adehboya and the beast aka Babtista to play. :D

    Today's premiership results:

     

    Blackburn 1-3 Newcastle

    Bolton 4-0 West Ham

    Liverpool 4-0 Fulham

    Man Utd 3-1 Man City

    Middlesbrough 1-1 Wigan

    Tottenham 5-1 Charlton

    Anyways who do you think will win tommorrow's game, Chelsea vs Arsenal? Arsenal are without the overated Henry, Classy Kolo Troure and not forgetting our former world class defender, William Gallas.

     

    I got a feeling Arsenal might suprise us.

    Seriously, when Saha scored and the likes of Ronaldo, Giggs and Rooney were having fun in the first half, I thought thats the end. Remember last season at Old Trafford, Man Utd worked hard not to concede after Fletcher's lucky header.

     

    We were not making chances in the first half and our midfield was packed with the likes of Ballack, Lampard, Essien and Makelele; we were not playing wide enough. This has been the story of the first half. But the second half we changed the system, brought it Robben, dominated the game and scored and we were unlucky not to get another.

     

    Dont get me wrong, Man Utd had the first half on lockdown but slept on the second half. Ashley Cole was briliant and Richardo Carvalho was superb.

     

    I agree with you lot that a draw was fair.

     

    Kevin Davis should've been sent off when he pushed Ebue right in front of the referee as the rules of the game clearly states

    Bob, brother that was the rules of last season. This season it is a yellow card to push a player on the chest and a red card to push/touch the face. The referee was right on this occasion but as for the general referring in the premier league is predicament. Graham Poll is disgrace and I wonder why they dont want to sack him.

     

    before the big match I was watching Newcastle against Portsmouth and guess what? The linesman ruled out a legitimate Newcastle goal for a nonexistent offside when it was blatant clear that Obafemi Martins was onside,(sublime finish it was, i tell you)

    I agree with you, that was a good goal. By the way, did you see how Dyer was flying, glad to see him on form.

     

    PS. is there anyone who saw Ronaldinho's goal against Villareal on Saturday? If you didn't, you missed one of the greatest goals you will ever see in your lifetime and I had to stand up and clap for him, Poor Cygan (our old Gunner) had no idea what was happening until it was too late, you lot should see that goal.

    That was a wonder goal.

    Last night's games were thrilling to watch. Arsenal did a great come back and won such an entertaining game.

     

    Celtic also did qualify for the next round after thumping Man Utd 1-0. Saha missed a last minute penalty, I just felt sorry for him as he is such a good player but I was happy for Gordon Strachan. As usual all Fergie could say was, his team dominated the game and blah blah blah. This Manager does not know how to admit defeat.

     

    As for to night's game, I want my beloved Chelsea team to lose, in order to see the back side of Barcelona.

    Salaam Massa.

     

    I have completed MCSE, CCNA and currently doing CCNP3, Multilayer Switching. $5000 for the whole lot is fairly cheap but I think that depends on the area where you live and the training provider.

     

    Just an advice, do not join companies that inform you to complete CCNA/MCSE in a week. Thats impossible!

    He was a sub yesterday against Tottenham and the sub got subbed when Robbie Keane of all the people was giving him hard time. He is a good player; young and talented but it will be at least a season before he establishes himself as a top defender. I am not saying he is not a top defender but he lacks concentration at times which dearly affects him.

    I dont think Terry uttered racist comments against the likes of Zakora, Chimponda and Ledley King but I would be suprised if he did. Lets just wait and see!

     

    As for the game, I think the referee, Graham Poll was the reason why we lost that game. He made two big decisions which affected us but we controlled the game even with 10 players but were unlucky not to get at least a draw from that game.

     

    Well done to the Spurs though, they have been waiting for this for 16 years.

     

    We are going to bounce back and trash Man Utd on 26 November. Only time will tell.

     

    Arsenal were also unlucky, I despise Alan Padrew, West Ham Manager. He is racist, big time. Remember he complained about Arsenal having a lot of foreigners. I am sure he is playing the likes of Reo-Coker and the other black players at West Ham because he aint got a choice but if he did, he will let them rot on the bench. His celebrations were like as if he won the league and I am sure Arsenal will have the last laugh as they will finish either second or third and we all know where West Ham will finish.

    Many peeps blame your manager for his rotation system. Liverpool are not poor, they have exceptional players and a good manager but the problem is consistency.

     

    I dont hate crouch, I dislike Garcia; I would chop off his thumb that he leaks everytime he scores a goal.

    Bob, Sxb, How are you doing?

    Long time.

     

    As much as I hate to disagree with you, but I have to admit that you are off beam on this occasion. It was Barcelona players, the likes of Motta, Marquez, Puyol and actually the whole team that resorted to the dreadful and appalling actions. Even though I have to admit that it was only Drogba who was the culprit on our side as he was unsportsmanlike in some occasion but I still rate him as he had the last laugh and once again scored an important goal.

     

    The game was far away from entertaining and the Barca players resorted to all sorts of things (diving, cheating and most of all, as usual, they wanted a Chelsea player sent off) to make sure they get the 3 points. Did you see how the whole team including their Manager and fans wanted Ashley Cole to be sent off? I am lost for words but this team deep down believes that Chelsea are too good for them and will resort to all kind of stuff to make sure that they win.

     

    Most of all, the referee was pathetic, he could not control the game and was biased with his decisions on several occasions. We deserved two penalties and his yellow cards were sometimes unnecessary.

     

    Our Manager, Jose Mourinho, is a loud mouth but I second him when he said, Barca can never beat Chelsea team when all the players are on the pitch.

     

    The game at the Bridge had everything, it was classic! We controlled the whole game, never game them time to breath and the win was magnificent. Many so-called commentators were astonished and I am sure my friend, Bob was also.

     

    PS: Barcelona is a good team with so many talented players but I think they missed the deadly unsung hero; Samuel Eto. Ronaldinho was lucky last night as Khalid Boularouz was not at his best last night. :D

    Look at it this way, Save our Goal Keepers

     

    Neil Barnett has been writing, editing and broadcasting for Chelsea for over 20 years. This week he responds to the challenges which injured Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini.

     

     

     

    Reading vs Chelsea was not 102 minutes as has been reported. It was 107. The second-half clock started at 45 minutes and continued for 12 of stoppage time.

     

    But the first-half contained five minutes of stoppage time. That is 17 in all. This was no normal match.

     

    The subsequent questions that the public need to ask are the following.

     

    1. Can two serious head injuries in one game to goalkeepers be a coincidence?

     

    2. Shouldn’t footballers exercise a duty of care towards fellow professionals and was this practised at Reading on Saturday?

     

    3. Would those challenges which injured the Chelsea goalkeepers have been acceptable overseas — in other words were they old fashioned ‘English’ challenges which the world game has long found unacceptable?

     

    4. Would they have been fouls in any other part of the pitch?

     

    Before José Mourinho made his post-match comments he went and studied the video footage. At no stage thereafter did he suggest that Steve Hunt deliberately injured Petr Cech. But if you apply Questions 2, 3 and 4 to Hunt’s challenge, what answers do you get?

     

    In English football more than any other it is acceptable to test an opponent physically, to hang a leg in to see what will happen, to let them know you are there.

     

    On television on Saturday night we could witness an appalling two-footed tackle on Wayne Rooney go unwhistled. But at Reading we saw two deserved sendings off for ‘cheating’, pulling back an opponent when beaten.

     

    In England we get some things right and some things wrong. We don’t like cheats. But we still don’t protect footballers. Maybe the latter is one reason why we don’t win anything as a nation. Maybe we don’t ensure that our footballers exercise a duty of care to fellow players as FIFA would like.

     

    It’s garbage to suggest that you can’t be physical if you can’t tackle like in England as compared to abroad. John Terry tackles, but he does it properly. That is why he has never been sent off playing for Chelsea. On Saturday at Reading in an outstanding performance, sadly overlooked because of the injuries, Khalid Boulahrouz showed that he knows how to tackle. He looked an excellent central defender.

     

    I thought José was kind to Ibrahima Sonko for his challenge on Carlo Cudicini. It was wild. He wasn’t looking at the ball. It wasn’t malicious, he was looking for an equaliser, but it was wild. It caused serious injury. It didn’t show a duty of care.

     

    I thought he was kind to Reading as well. Their game reminded me of the 1980s when English football hit an all time low, of lump and run, of challenge and challenge, of Wimbledon and Watford and… sorry, Steve Coppell, but of Crystal Palace.

     

    FIFA has taken a lot of stick down the years for its changes to the rules, or to the interpretation of the rules, but it has frequently been proved right. The tackle from behind was correctly outlawed. Goalkeepers picking up back passes were correctly stopped. The game has become better as a result. And wild challenges and challenges on the floor have been unacceptable.

     

    Were Hunt’s and Sonko’s challenges really acceptable, or were they part of a culture that accepts that accidents happen and are part of the game? If they were the latter, that is a pretty sick culture.

     

    The game became so wild on Saturday that Carlo Cudicini was left lying unconscious while the action continued around him. The referee only whistled up once Didier Drogba had kicked the ball away from the goal.

     

    It is true that collisions do happen. It is true that accidents do happen. It could even be freakishly true that two goalkeepers could sustain serious head injuries during one game and that nothing be wrong with the game or the culture.

     

    But if there is not a thorough investigation into the match and review of the culture when such an incident happens, then the whole sport is being irresponsible. What happened to Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini in the same 107 minutes must never happen to two goalkeepers again.

     

    Now take another look at those challenges!

    Big Blow!

     

    Both Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini are injured. Petr Cech underwent surgery for a depressed fracture of the skull and Cudicini has been discharged from hospital.

     

    We hope that Hilario would stand up and be counted.

     

    I wish Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini a quick recovery.
