Mr Kagame used the opportunity of this 14th session of the African, Caribbean and Pacific and the European Union joint Parliamentary Assembly convening at Serena Hotel to make his government's position on Somalia's state of war-it is simply a neglected country. "It is unacceptable for us to watch while people die everyday, in a situation made worse by the fact that Somalia has not had functioning state organs for more than a decade now," he said. Key parties, including African countries and the international community should join hands in restoring peace in the horn of Africa, at least to the interest of millions suffering in this part of Africa, says the Rwandan head of state. And, the Kigali establishment, he said, is already playing her part in the peace campaign by training Somali Security Forces. "War in Somalia must end," Mr Kagame said, adding that the ingenuity of the international community must be seen to ensure that the war ravaged Mogadishu regains stability. Kagame's plea comes at a time when some foreign states have started intervening. The French navy on Monday escorted two ships carrying food aid to Somalia to deter possible attacks from pirates. The waters off the war-torn country are among the most dangerous in the world - 26 ships, including three carrying food aid, have been attacked this year. Some 580,000 Somalis have fled their homes in 2007 due to increased conflict, the UN says. The country has also been ravaged by drought. For the issue of Darfur, the Kigali leadership observed that there seems to be a drastic improvement since the approval of the UN-AU hybrid force. The ACP-EU member countries rallied behind Kagame's concerns. Or is this forum really dead? I mean, its been around as long as the other Somali forums, has better content and discussion material, and a really catchy name and slogan. So, with that said, I have noticed that this forum is more dead than a zombie. I can see crickets flying on my screen, for christ's sake! I have several suggestions; like introducing a newer, more modern template for the forum and improved user Control Panel, this should boost popularity quickly. Dhulqarnayn -alSumaale, I am a logical Somali (smallest demographic on Earth) and when I just can't find a logical answer as to why an entire ethnic group is working towards its own self destruction, I start to look elsewhere and see if anyone has a logical and educated explanation (FYI, their views on the stick people must be in line with my own). But, being a REAL Somali, you'll probably find the answer on your own, and by the end of the day, qabiil will work its way in your answer and you will have murdered upwards of 20 people. I promise.

Quick question before I slap myself for being Somali... Why do Somalis achieve success in every way possible and in every country BESIDES their own? Here in Minnesota, they are the hardest working, most law abiding, most educated, and fastest progressing people in the state, bar none, no competition. And they live a way of life and have a certain swagger and appeal that is welcomed by the state, sort of like Somalis are the solution to the state, like they have saved the state, I can tell they are by far the mayor's favorite newcomer group. Okay, that being said -- why is Somalia (weak little fractured republic in Africa) still walking on one leg, while continually biting its other 3 infected legs? (I hope you can comprehend the metaphor). And please, no "reasons" or excuses -- obviously I know of the civil war and the dictator and all the other info, so don't bring it up in hopes of finding an answer -- the answer is deep within the people's psyche and a hidden tradition that our ancestors have created that we continue to promote while not really knowing much about it. The most starved nation in the world has once again revived an old pastime out of necessity--and I'm not talking about dung-bathing or molesting camels--I'm talking about clan hunting. This is a sport where one stick commits a misdemeanor and the victim's clan massacres the suspected stick's clan. This game has evolved since the end of the federal era (partially-civilized Somalia). Long ago, stick massacres would never surpass 100 dead in a single month, but today, they have been elevated. No longer are they just traditions held deep within the stick society, they are internationally witnessed and the sticks don't care if they continue to embarrass themselves in front of the world community. Today, clans have adopted English acronyms to disguise their dark motives, whether it be TFG or UIC or SNM; their one goal is to beg and prostitute themselves to international organizations and wealthier nations to get supplies and money to get revenge on a rival clan, even if the misdoing was just one stick spitting in another stick's face, these savages will go that far. Now, the good thing is that the sticks will never advance beyond the 8th century; mentally, physically, economically, and militarily. Thank God. This means that casualties will probably be stagnant for the coming years. May God rescue Somalia.
