For examples, males that originated from one common ancestor will distinct chromosome or gene that is unchanged through time. The same is true for women. I have been watching this show for while. The premise of the show is exactly what title says, looking for ancestral roots of the guests who are mainly celebrities. The guests ancestry is traced through documents and dna testing. Since we don't have written history and stories about ancestors are not reliable to say least, tracing our individual ancestors through dna testing is only the option. All this led me to wonder, if we were to do dna testing on Solers, how many of us will have common ancestor at any given time in history. Mind Somalis have extensively intermarried and obviously continue to do so. And the stories of Arab Shiekhs coming to Somalia seems shaky at best. Is there common Somali ancestor and are today's tribes really blood related or mere political construct that was established in the past but now accepted as blood kinship?
