Give a lot of credit to CEO Steve Jobs, whose father was an immigrant from an Arab country, for transforming the tech-world tremendously.

Interesting indeed! I remember a similar incident when a Microsoft employee drew the anger of its CEO for having and using his iPhone in the middle of an ongoing company meeting. Hard to compete with Apple's products. I am using LG Optimus (Android-Powered). It lets you use your wireless internet as a portable WiFi hotspot. And I use it to connect to my iPod Touch 32GB. Such an amazing product by Apple, Inc.

Sayid, I hear and somehow concur with your concern. However, I believe the unity of our people can be worked on piecemeal. And no entity or group should be allowed to re-write and erase Somali history even if our faith in the concept of Somali unity fades in some corners. The vast majority of Somalis are in favor of the preservation of Somalia's territoroal integrity so do the rest of the world. We should therefore be able to appreciate and celebrate the genuine struggle of the older generations in securing our political independence and the ensuing effort thereof to unify Somali territories, for the design of our societal ills and disintegration had began right after Somalia's strategic retreat or rather its defeat of the 1977 war, the refugee crisis and the subsequent international isolation. All of these factors combined with the destabilization policies and the secret security pact jointly pursued by our neighbors greatly contributed to our state collapse. On the other hand, whereas Ethiopia was saved from itself following the Soviet fall and the rise of the capitalist world order, we were abandoned to the mercies of proxy warlords. But still our sovereignty within the recognized borders is still legally observed and recognized.

Happy Independence Day SOMALIA. We should celebrate both June 26th and July 1st in good and bad times though the latter marks the date when the North and South re-united to form the Somali Republic.

Puntland delegation visits SOOL: Taleex Xallin: enjoy the PICS

If singing the right lyrical words makes a national singer wrong then no need for our Saado Ali to be right. Singing, "Las Anod will not be eclipsed nor dismembered and that our Republic is united one, not divided two." Powerful Lyrics! -
Let's welcome our PM, the Economist from Harvard, Dr. Abdiwali. I agree if given chance by Somalis, he can wean the nation off its self-inflicted wounds or current but long political impasse.

"men, by disposition, should act on their dreams, regardless of whatever the end result that they must show for it is. And, that is what in essence we in Somaliland have been doing ever since that year of 1991." Oodwayne, It's good to dream but pursue your dreams through peaceful means and don't force those who don't share that disposition the same way as you do. -
Wow Kamaavi's music thread is still up & floating.

While this threat of radicalism is real, let's not jump into conclusion and brand a whole faith as incompatible with the values of the host society. I heard it on BBC that it will soon air a program on America's homegrown threat: Right-Wing Militias and Radical Islam.

Amazing Video. Read if you haven't yet this great book, "Guns , Germs and Steel. The Fates of Human Societies by Jared Diamond.

Nice Pics. Thanks for sharing ... Happy Independence Day On June 26th, in Hargeisa, these spirited words were read as the blue flag of Somalia was raised and the colonial one flinged forever. Sareeyow ma nusqaamow Aan siduu yahey eegnee Kana siib, kana Saar.

Puntland delegation visits SOOL: Taleex Xallin: enjoy the PICS
NASSIR replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
You wlc sis. No doubt the central aim of this visiting delegation in Taleex and Xalin districts is nothing but damage control since PL wants to have control of those regions and can't at the same time derail the aspirations of the people of SSC. The control mechanism desired by PL could either be on direct means like having an office or a base for its militia or through POLITICAL AGENTS. However Farole still has to carry out the directives of his master Mr. Meles in frustrating the movement and labeling its leaders as anti-peace or terrorists. -

Unless we look inward and break free of the internal division (sub-clan competition for power and glory), Ethiopia, through its indirect rule of political clients, will exploit the current miserable condition under which the regions of Sool as well as Sanaag and by extension other regions, throttle in. There's no long-term value for PL & SL to play politics and meddle in the affairs of other communities to whom they have no interest in their overall welfare but to claim control wherein the goal is to size up their bargaining chip in Mogadisho and win aid on behalf of Sool & Sanaag. Let's stand up for respect and decency -
It' s sad that this official statement from the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi and the new policy it exhorts only adds to the further balkanization of Somalia into mini states. Next time, we would probably see another press release with more factional regions or new ones than those already listed as important stakeholders of Somalia.

Great CV. Good job by President Shariif.
