  1. Atariisho, No doubt Puntlanders are business savvy everywhere. With the exception of reer Mudug and Karkaar folks who put themselves in the role of self-fulfilling prophesy on the politics of Somalia, majority focus on their own family affairs & businesses and careers.
  2. AS THE TITLE OF this writing implies, which bids itself to avert the possibility of a Melian fate recurring to any region in our country, I strongly believe that Somali peoples, who inhabit regions that fall between/under or outside the borders of the self-interested administrations currently existing, that they should be well advised to promptly device plans to gain sole control over their affairs. If not, they may probably face the bleak prospects of prolonged economic and political marginalization, or outright, forceful occupation and eventual population displacement. This is the alarm I sound for now, with the hope of pre-empting consequences of an unending protracted tribal conflict over territorial claims and counter-claims of irreverent regional administrations. The decision of a people to become masters of their own affairs is what I would like to call ‘The Maakhirian Shift By Paragon
  3. So why not utilise such a medium for total propaganda purposes and brainwash the mad women into supporting your cause You assume most watch Somali TV shows. But then Wadaadada that I see on Universal TV from time to time have at least something to sell to our womenfolk and others: helping the needy among us for the sake of Allah!. They're articulate in that theme and if moderated or limited to the social realm can apeal to Somalis of every background and clan. Btw, good article. I support the buttom up approach to our social & political crisis.

Both entities seem to hold the same vision for Somali unity and bottom-up approach to reviving the Republic. Why give an edge to the secessionists in this fight for Somali unity and political independence?

  6. Carafaat, Pay attention to the first speaker in his remarks and how the current legislative council of Badhan city has contributed more than any other council since the collapse of the last regime. During the session, Abw. Cali Xuseen has crafted this poem for the council, which captures on the positive sentiment people have of the Badhan Territorial Council. Shaqsigii waxgarad ahi, runtii waa gam’ayaa Gaari carawiya, cid ka goobi maayaan Kuwa geenyo lacageed, gaadaaya maahan Masaakiinta gudahana , gargaar loogu talagaley Kuwa guri ku haystoo, u raadsada qabiilo, gadanaaya maahan Kuwa aan Iskuul gelin, garaneyn alifoo, gabgableeya maahan Kuwa Eebe gooyo, aan salaada gudanoo, gardar'oda maahan Kuwa galay wax hore, dhib u geystey Qarankoo, gof loo haysto maahan Idinkuna Goliyoo, geedigaan kaxeyseen ilaa guriga loo rarey Uu kagaari dooniyo, habka loo gol leeyahey Inu oodka guda iyo, galabtii caraawada, buuraha habeenkii Midna yaanu gamino, haloo giijo heesaha

Star with acting tough, drop some sub clan names into the hat, preferably your in-laws and then if the crowd reacts mention more sub-sub clan names, then mention how you are standing up to them.. Classic stuff.. Is it not wise or good strategy that Faroole and Puntland stay out of the Khaatumo affairs? Can't Faroole reserve his fierty talk points on Khatumo ?

  10. Safety is # 1 priority. You can tell from this video (Another good company) and the comments from the management team on how safety standards are strictly adhered to & enforced. But the establishment of regulatory agencies for food and drugs is crucial. But this is just the beginning of something bigger.
  11. Thanks Aaliyah. It shows how some "Somalilanders" point to the naked aggression of their admins. There are good people in every group who condemn bad policies and unjust clan-based attacks.
  12. Thanks Libaax for the highlights! This seems to me as though the world/western governments are biased in favor of two main Somalia zones that would most likely resemble very closely North Korea (al-Shabaab) vs. South Korea (Puntland, SL, and the TFG). Somalis will reject this silly proposal & fight it until the country is united. Ethiopia & Kenya are very much pleased with the prophets of Somalia's doom & gloom. And this London conference could bring about that scary scenerio. Edit: I pointed to the neocolonial designs of the UK gov't in my thread and how it vehemently gave its diplomatic and financial support to the secessionists against the wishes of Maakhir & Khaatumo folks.

Had Somalis organized themselves around innovative business models, esp Manufacturing and Mechanized Farming projects, rather than forming phantom mini states, we would have seen something productive. Let's raise funds for projects that can generate jobs for our large Youth population.
  16. It's time we compete on the commercial side.
  17. Post some pics & info summary of emerging Somali manufacturing companies Ilo Taango, A beverage making company that has subsidiaries in Mogadishu, Bosaaso and Hargeisa has announced a new product line, Ilo Shampoo. I think if Somalis revive the manufacturing and farming sectors of Somalia's economy, we would be able to combat much effectively the recurrence of famine and chronic poverty. We have to also stop deforestation and the criminal charcoal enterprises.
