My Friend are you still on that. The idea of secularism is embedded in the enlightenment (funny they call it that) period, which among many things was overtly responsible for creating many things - including a denial of oral traditions and customary law of many African countries would be considered void under their positivist/legocentric (law has been written to be law) methodology. Also, they denied religion/custom because its architects were afraid it would endanger the supremacy of the law, not natural law but positive law. People of Somalia and the global south ways of living is interlinked with socio-cultural realities and religious elements that most legocentric find difficult to incorporate into their analysis of secularism and the division between state and religion. This is overtly a western tradition, which should be contained in its places of origin, the whole idea of secularism is place-specific. Given that Somalis emphasises the close link/overlap between law/religion any form of legal recognition of secularism in somalia, will shift in favour of religion - thereby endangering the laws supremacy as the secularist would argue. What we need my friend is to recognise a process which doest turn into a combat scenario between Islamic extremists/ and militant atheist. The prosperity and richness of Somalia's religious identity is testament to the assertion that religion is as strong as the law, often forming the law.
  4. exactly my sentiments! I didn't ask for their attention. but they want to make a point! its silly if you ask me.

You have enough sense than to fall for a badly written, badly thought out and badly presented ruse, saaxib. I am offended on your, Juxa's and Norf's behalf here. I truly dislike foolish trolls that try to take advantage of the good well of good people (I am never a nice person, so I do not include myself here). load of Qashin, as it were! Get of my back you useless old man! everything you say is based on speculation, you cant prove anything and yet you write as if I am somehow a liar. Its not nice to call people liars! Unless you have prove that I have lied, then you have no right to call me a liar. I will not stand there and watch you defame my character! I will fight back and call you names too, but like I said, the onus of prove is on your side. As for the rest of you who have jumped on NGONGE crusade against me, then you are blind followers because he is not saladin. in fact far from that... he is a small time player with smaller followers. Dhagax tuur - 'ilbaxnimo waa xaasidnimo' is very true.

  7. oh really now ya.... my skills shouldn't have a bearing on my eviction notice(quite surprised I write well. lol.) Its like saying you cant be rich unless your white or a man. that a lie right? lol... or saying your black and therefore a big prick! lol. What is a takfiir because someone called me that recently. its a sect/school of though right? I am not even a good muslim dont know what gave them that idea!
  8. lol@GDW, how did you come to that conclusion? Also what type of person do you think i am? are you saying I am an academic specialising in people reactions when asked for help. lol. you are crazy my friend! oh also... do you realise they have spies on somaliaonline and aliens! lol.

The possibilities of being a successful squatter and hobo are endless. I am not willing to lower myself like that. I mean I dont see why I should.

Mayaa walal I dnt know you but I know enough to know that you are not in any such difficulty. Haa isku sadeenin all this stuff, jst go find another hobby rather than making things up on SOL. If you were trying to be funny. you have failed miserably because i am not laughing(!) Originally posted by Norfsky: What are you DOING about your situation? Have you read up the laws/regulations/rules regarding going into arrears with council/housing association? Have you prepared your case for leniency and agreement of a new payment plan? Get to researcching and writing letters back. First thing they will ask is 'have you told anyone of your situation'? Telling them you told them over the phone won't mean anything. Send a letter! I will be meeting with my advisor at the CAB next week tuesday to speak him about further options avaliable to me. If anything, if push comes to shuff i will have to return to the family house. Part of the reason for my finanical difficulty has been this house, so i wont be sad to see it go - i will only lose my independence which is quite alot to be honest.
  12. All these insults are really added to the anguish I feel right now...(!) People can write whatever they want. I only wanted advise and thankfully Juxa has provided that and i am very gratefully for it. Its amazing what some people say to make up for their lack of humility and compassion. 13. When have somali people ever being that generous! Some people are glad to see you fail. I know because I know many like that!
  14. Originally posted by Juxa: B in that case dont worry, eviction should be last resort. if you are prepare to pay your arrears they cant evict you period. so pay it now if you can afford, if not borrow from family and friends. if paying the rent is becoming difficult seek assistance ie housing benefits which depends on what you earn Xiin & karl, i do this all day long, sol is just extension of my already boring work-life I hope this is the case because the council is quite serious on eviction. I think this is because of the long waiting list for housing in the area. The only reason why I moved out was because I want to see if I can be independent. The thought of asking my family is a really big shame and I dont think I could bring myself to ask after they have done so much for me including buying my weekly food and furnishing the house for me with Ikea furniture and stuff. My friend are very stuck up and I will not bring myself to lose face to these people. I might just resort to extending my overdraft limit!
  15. Originally posted by Juxa: aaah B not again. they cant evict you without court order, attend the hearing, say maba aadan fahmin ama lacag maheysto. they would either ask you to pay £3 per week for what you owe or evict you either way dont vacate the house, you need eviction order to get another council house. ps: contact shelter Thanks Juxa, The issue is that my rent has been in arrears, for only a couple of weeks after I cancelled my direct debit due to lack of credit in my bank. I have set up a new direct debit but it takes a week and I missed the deadline that was set by the council. I spoke to the lady from the council and she threatened me with eviction and sent several notices, some of which were in bright red! This is not the first time I breached my tenancy agreement and I believe they put a condition in that if the rent was missed that they could evict me.
  16. Housing authority is threatening to kick me out of my flat with immediate effect having failed to pay rent on time. They have been sending alot of threats lately with eviction notices. I have gone to the Citizens Advice Bureau but they have failed me. Can anyone help or had previous experience on how to deal with the housing authorities.
  17. Recognition comes from the mind not a bureacratic institution like the United Nations. This failing organisation doesnt reflect the 'facts on the ground'. Often, through its concerted efforts to appease and not to intervene in the internal dynamics of nations, it fails to acknowledge the demands of the people. we have seen this before in Rwanda and the war in the balkans. To the thread starter, i fail to see what the relevance of this has to do with Somaliland and even if the UN doesnt overtly recognise Somaliland.
  18. I can see my father in there. Man... is this the stuff he always talks about. Thanks for uploading. Excellent stuff!
  19. @ngonge oh right.... I take it that you have links with the producers of that programme yeah? Are you saying your not wasting time, complaining about the weather and what have you. Malika, I am not sure what your into but NGONGE sense of humour is horrible.
  20. Malika, I can only judge people by what I can see. How can you suggest therefore that I am taking this guy too serious. He is so negative - the epitome of everything that is wrong with Somali people.
  21. ^ You know there is a BBC programme called Grumpy Old Men... I think you should go there. When will I ever hear you say something positive. How high are your standards brov?
  22. My friend who is Somali has been selected to run for the LibDems in a ward. Ward is an area within a constituency. This is very positive. The area has a large somali community so hopefully, we will get him elected. I was so happy when I found this out about a month ago.
  23. As an avid SNM historiographer, this topic serves to remind us of what the SNM actually achieved. There is no doubting that SNM were liberators of peoples and brought peace and stability to Somaliland. They have an enshrined place in our memories but we [somalilanders] now need to move forward and start to build a nation.
  24. ^^ It doesn't mean you should lower yourself like that nonetheless. Its very unmanly and quite frankly very childish to react in such a manner. Besides that, my politics only concerns me and me alone, your opinion is not really important and is peripheral to the wider schemes of things.
  25. ^ I don't understand why you would feel sorry for the mother. People have the right to define themselves and not to live in the shadow of their parents. This practice is not conducive at all. Clearly Idil and the like have taken a step to far but it shouldn't tarnish the reputation of family collectively.
