There is truth in what you say but it is not the whole truth. Regardless of whether one is pursuing understanding through exoteric or esoteric path there are always those who become lost in their jungle of ignorance. When two conditions are met the same slippery slopes you mentioned could lead one to fertile land with meadows in which one may gain both in wisdom and Love. Because then he becomes nearer to God and by virtue of it understands better the religious information which God has sent to us through His messengers in all ages. The first condition is the mercy of God which delivers a person from ignorance and misunderstanding. The second condition is the rightful devotion by which a person utilizes his abilities to his best and consequently comes in pact with the will of God by INTENTION and ACTION, as laid in the Quran and Sunnah. Under the above two conditions everything is possible and there is no limitation as what Allah might unveil to His devotee except eventual limitations God Himself WILLS. We should know that God The Sovereign and Ruler is Almighty and does whatever He wishes for His devotees. Both in here and hereafter an unthinkable Good, wisdom and love can be given to one person by Allah while the opposite might engulf another person. Such are the affairs of God with His creation. Although there is nothing wrong with that still, as you yourself alluded to, it does not give the whole answer. It does not for example explain HOW intuition comes into being in the first place or what causes it. Science is in fact the study of the effects of creation and therefore God or anything which shows no observable effects for scientific study are discounted. For science what is not observable and quantifiable does not exist. A naive proposition if I may say. The correct perspective, as I see it, is that the individual is not in control of his intuitive center. It is rather God Who centers all the actions of His creation through, among others, this said center. Consequently what God wants is carried out by His creation without, many times, conscious awareness of what an action aims to achieve. This explains why God is called the Supreme Ruler. It simply means that creation is the instrument of God and carries out what He plans or decrees through His Supreme WILL. Nothing happens by accident or by chance. Therefore while reason is our manual pilot intuition is the auto-pilot. This sharing of functions though puts the auto-pilot in a higher position of responsibility but it delegates repetitive and reflex actions for the manual pilot. The Awakener2
  14. There has been someone who privately asked me to translate this thread. I prefer to share the following rough summary of the topic in English with you . Here it is: The topic which is composed of many postings is a fictional narrative about a man called Xang, who belonged to underclass tribe in Somalia. The time frame is about 500 years ago and Xange and his segregated tribe struggled to free themselves and their offspring from the yoke of social injustice which was imposed on them by their brethren of the privileged somali tribes. Xange succeeded to become equal among the equals. In addition to that he also succeeded to marry the women he loved Qanjo, who according to the prevalent tradition could not marry him in the first place. His good fortune of changes became possible after Qalanjo decided to run away with him after it became clear to her that because of Xanges tribal birth her parents would not allow the marriage to take place. They later came to an area where a culturally more decent somali people lived and got married. Xange, Qalanjo and her younger brother, Huriwa, settled down with their new found people who were free of cast systems, social oppression and group dominance. They lived in peace and in prosperity among these people and reared many children before they peacefully passed away in an old age. Later on Qalanjo's family with exception of her father who passed away joined them and the whole family became happily reunited. The writer of the peice “ soomaalida iyo hayb-sooca”( Somalis and their social segregation) tries to depict in his narration a situation where brothers and sisters in the integral family of Somalis oppress one another on the bases of tribe. Such tribal oppression which many times is enforced with the use of brutal force creates in effect a cast system which in its practical application puts tribes in a ascending ranks of social importance and status. The members of tribes lowest in rank are given names and oppressed. Their misery is justified through false justifications. Consequently underprivileged members of the lowest tribes have to live with culturally sanctioned disadvantageous socio-economic status and their children inherit the social positions of their parents. There are no social leverages which can make possible for the next generation of segregated tribes to share life of equal opportunities with those who are from privileged tribes. The writer through the story tries to show the reader that what has been driving us madly to self destruction is nothing else but the competition of tribes for resources and social status. This competition between the tribes in our country has created a state of perpetual conflict and division among our people both now and in the past. The group interest has became dominant while the common interest became an illusive commodity which has yet to be found by the majority of the us . What is most worrying now though is that we have not only nearly decimated ourselves as a nation, as never before, but we have the potential to annihilate our nation- ones and for all. It is paramount then , more than ever now, that we identify the enemy! The enemy is our socio-economic system which among other things encourages the individual to belong to a tribe instead of his ROOT national identity which is Somali. We can no longer afford to give our allegiance to individual tribes for the simple reason that such groups will bring neither peace nor prosperity to us as a nation or even to our sub-clans. The writer proposes that a GENUINE BIRTH of nationhood in our consciousness is the way forward. First we need to become aware of that need and then we have to fulfill our dream through sincere actions which aim to bring our goals into fruition. To make us aware of our dire need to unit as one nation, without oppressed or segregated groups, sub-clans or sub-tribes, is what the writer is trying to convey to us.   19. Do the thoughts of another xabadi keentay ever cross your mind and how prepared are you for such an eventuality ? I don’t want to be alarmist but I feel that Somalis in diaspora need to have contingent plans for another probable “xabadi keentay”. If we eventually are compelled to go back to Somalia and come home empty handed those we have been feeding year after year will surely show neither gratitude nor will they help us.   20. A&A, About your assertion about the somali society and its questionable pratice of Islam it is well known that changes of character and social values takes generations if not centuries to make. Pain can be experienced before real change comes because inherent mental barriers has to be gone through. Even those who are earnest and keen to become good muslims have to go through a process of advancement of character. Patience is therefore a virtue which we need most. We need also not to preach but rather become good role models whom the others can emulate. GJ-Goate, It is true that you find division everywhere you look. Even in our religious establishment. But what compounds the divisions are the learned sheikhs and other knowledgeable community leaders who, most of them I can say, cultivate sectarianism for their own personal ends or many times for self righteous reasons. We have to be optimistic nevertheless because there is time for every thing before it passes away.   21. A&A We need always to add to the equation that nothing happens by chance. Everything that has happened to us or is happening now has divine goals to achieve. We the human beings at this side of existence are not independent from the macrocosmic DIVINE PLAN of God but are in fact vehicles for His will in whatever capacity He has ordained for us. An attitude that God is our supreme ruler does not only give us a peace of mind but it also gives meaning to our lives. Because we realize that it is His loving care that gives us sustenance both spiritually and materially. Consequently we trust to His effect and gladly accept whatever comes to our lives. As to our individual role as human beings we need to assert ourselves by using all the faculties that God has endowed in us. Our self assertion ought be aimed, among other things, to act in whatever manner which will bring love and kindness into our environment. That is what we have to practice dailly; to continuously train ourselves to do good deeds. We are limiting our capabilities when we are using only our conscious faculties. We best contribute to Life when we become awakened to the fact that we are more than body and Mind. That is when we realize that each and everyone of us is a deathless entity or Soul as it classically called. As long as we are not awakened to our higher Self reasoning and logic may be useful tools to us. But we become more powerful when we act from the Soul perspective.   23. Reason and intuition are mental faculties which man uses as vehicles. While reason belongs to our Ego or that part which we know as our self in our awaked state instinct is part of our unconscious state and has access to the collective unconsciousness of all living beings. In other words reason draws its resources ONLY from the memory bank of the person; memories of the persons experiences from childhood. It is this information in the mind it computes and makes “logical” decisions from it. Conversely intuition is centered by higher faculty which is the unconscious mind which its self is centered by even higher centre of Self. The information this center may suggest to the first center can be transpersonal and universal in nature; and therefore may seem illogic from the stand point of prior experiences. We can postulate that in the future highly evolved human beings will depend for decision makings more on their higher intuitive abilities. We have to be content now though with our reasoning capabilities because we are still in a childhood stage in human evolution. With exception of may be a handful we are all prisoners of our reasoning faculty and what is tangible to our sensory organs. But eventually we will all awaken to the fact that the tangible is the tip of ice-berg! The Awakener2
  24. Thanks both AA. and Xiinfiniin. Xiin you seem tight lipped brother. I know you could say more( if I have been rude cafwan). I ask: 1)Are our tribal norms in line with our Islamic teaching? 2)Can we trump upon the rights of our fellow Muslims and/or neighbors and expect that we are immune to adverse compensations? I will not hesitate but has to say that now is a time we have to see the big picture: we have been cruel to one another! and we are reaping the consequences. Qualities of friendliness, brotherhood and kindness are what we need to practice in our relationships. Only when we do actions that benefits the others do the others reward us with similar actions and additional rewards from beyond may become abundant for all to rejoice. Potentially all good things we seek in Life may become ours if we only learn that every CAUSE has an EFFECT. I may seem idealist and sentimental but I can not help but think that we may end up on what we don't like and where we don't want unless the majority of us decides to persistently do good deeds which are in line with our religious teaching and our best social norms.   25. Walaal AA, Happiness and peace come when one takes responsibility and works for both his adduunyo (material) and aakhiro (spiritual). The more persons in a society who sincerely do this the more peace and prosperous this society experiences. Due to what we have been witnessing in our coutry lately we can savely say that we have not been doing this. Our hardship has been further compounded by the global- village motto in our times. we have also been neglecting our religious duties and the last but not the least our observance of cultural norms has been poor. Add all those things together and you may understand why our ball has been rolling down hill. Loyalty to self serving individuals: warlords, businessmen, self styled traditional elders etc. and groups: tribe based fighting forces, tribe based organisations, tribes, clans etc. will bring nothing to us but retardation and even destruction. If we have to survive as a nation in 21st century we need to leave behind old ways of fragmented society, sectarianism and tribal hegemonies and move to the global stage as a nation state that is capable to take care of itself and live in peace with its neighbors. A contemplative question is, even in this dark hour, is our people ready to work for a common good by first putting aside their differences and then embracing a nationhood ? The Awakaner2
