  1. People from the city have already said that the boy was eaten by wild animals, specifically a type of animal similar to a hyena if not a hyena itself.

They provide victim assistance, they run health facilities, they distribute food, they train people and so on. Several dozen medical students graduated from Kismayo University recently, I don't see why foreign medical personnel are necessary. Somalis can handle these tasks on their own. Local business donations and public taxes will be used to pay for equipment. Muslim countries can also be counted on for donations of equipment, but the talent and manpower needed to help Somalis can and will come from within. Stop preaching for Somalis to stand idle and waste away their skills while foreigners play the role of nurse. You should really keep up with news. UN estimates of needy were 3.5 million in 2007 but the numbers have dropped to 1.5 million, that's hardly the whole country and if you go back to page 1, 90% of those needy are in the central and northern regions where locals are still slaves to the WFP and their allies. I come from a farming background and let me tell you its very easy and fast to grow food, my father was a commercial plantation owner and he would export tonnes of food every day. Farms are so easy to run in the rainy southern regions that you CAN quite easily feed the entire population. You're also forgetting that most families in southern Somalia own farms. Looking around the land its a cruel joke how the people of those regions could be on food aid when their land is so abundant. Once again I'll suggest that you stop trying to suppress the independent and productive potential of our people back home. Food in southern Somalia is cheaper, higher quality, and more abundant than it has ever been before. My own family has recently returned to farming and business is good and so is the general quality of life. People are now saying that life is better at the moment than it was pre-war.

You speak like this because you have eaten and you can come to sit on a computer and type hypocritical comments. We do know that the western politics surrounding 'giving aid and saving Africans' and how a lot of it is self serving but the hungry masses don't need political or religious wars over them. The burning of the Quran wasn't even supported by most Americans not to mention that it didn't even happen. Besides what if some Americans hate muslims there is a lot of hate on both sides and I don't see why they should be so offended by naceyb la muujiyaya. I wonder if those of you alshabaab supporters on SOL could do everything you do and take for granted now if you were you living under their cursed authority. I deal in facts, not emotions. Too many people, including yourself, bring too much emotion and not enough fact to these sorts of debates, which are important. FACT: Cutting food aid has revived agricultural output, cheapened the price of food, and created enough surplus for Somali families to feed themselves and their neighbors. Malnutrition and food insecurity in regions where food aid is banned has dropped significantly since the laws were put in effect. I have already provided a detailed informational map on Page 1 backing this assertion. Before you ask us situational questions based on your emotional logic, take the time to answer your own questions based on factual logic. And the facts state that I'd be better off growing my own vegetables in weeks rather than waiting for expired food aid for months. A watermelon only takes two weeks to reach maturity, all it takes is a seed and a little water, are you implying that our people can't simply do that, and why are you so excited to prevent them from doing so?
  4. Again, I think you spend too much time in those lofty diaspora conferences held by 60 year old burnouts from the civil war era and July 1st parties hosted by teenagers. You are being neither specific nor realistic, it seems like it is you who is being naive here. I thought after reading your posts for 7 years here that you'd come up with a better statement when asked this question. Al-Shabaab has revived the economy, provided security, and rebuilt broken infrastructure. And you're here just TALKING, I think you really in fact do have a messiah complex and you should realize your so-far non-existent contribution to Somalia and fix it by taking small roles rather than trying to throw yourself into a political dream that's backfired and prolonged a bloody civil war. You should also realize that those trigger-happy teenagers are the largest group in the country, so unless you plan to move permanently to Nairobi to setup a government-in-exile, find a more productive road to helping Somalia. I once had dreams that I'd be part of a movement that would bring Somalia from the ashes through political machines, but I was 14 at the time. People should grow up from that sort of thinking.
  5. Who will do it though? In 20 years we did not manage to create this "all-inclusive Somalia for Somalis by Somalis" government. What makes you think we'll do it in the next 20 years? Aside from posting on forums what will you do to bring about this change? Its time to stop dreaming saxiib. Anyway I think Shabaab fits the wahabized post-civil war Somali people perfectly. I'm perfectly okay with spending my expertise in building a peaceful Somalia and I don't care who brings the peace, be they siyaadists or black taliban, peace is peace and knowing i'm not equipped to bring that peace to Somalia I respect those who can.
  6. Originally posted by General Duke: ^^^Indeed, but banning Al Shabaab will have much better effect.. Explain. No disrespect but you and others here who most strongly carry the anti-Shabaab lines never go into any sort of detail what you mean. I'd actually like to see if you guys have a viable alternative to the question of authority.

How about doing some research before joining the conversation? It would save us all some time. But I'll take the liberty to inform you a little. http://www.fsnau.org/downloads/Somali_IPC_with_logo_Jan_June2010.jpg ^ According to the latest information by analysis groups, food security is 10x worse in regions where aid agencies are already active. In regions where those agencies are banned you can see that the food security situation is better. Looks like banning those food agencies had better consequences than imagined.
  8. Excellent move. I would not be surprised to hear that Somali agricultural output and food security will increase yet again as a result. These youths are a little trigger-happy but there is brains and genuine concern behind their economic decisions. These wrongly-named 'humanitarian' agencies have been a plague to Somalis for decades.
  9. I see. I've always believed that having the government based in a small well-defended town is better than having it based in the chaotic capital where they are an ant on the map. You only need to compare A/Yusuf's government to this rotten one. But I also do not want bad elements to unpack and make their bed in Garowe. I think Galkacyo would be a better fit since it has security and is influenced by Puntland but especially that its already a tough city and can deal with the blows of conflict if it comes down to it. The next seat of government should be Galkacyo, I don't know if reer Puntland want to bring all the garbage of the TFG to their capital.

  13. Tuujiye must be from Gedo or Galguduud or one of those regions neglected by its community. Do not criticize us because we still love our country and we are still trying to help our people further. We have not given up, unlike you, and we are not going to sit by, we will build the motherland.
  14. MORE, this time during rainy season outside of Qardho City.
  15. Qardho, one of the great cities of Puntland maamul goboleed and Somalia. Enjoy. CITY OF QARDHO
  16. Why do these Maakhiri kids think that their empty lifeless region could ever support an armed movement like this? They can't even build roads or wells in their region. Do they not remember their failed state and crawling back to Garowe to be fed. I would estimate that a good 90% of the arms revenue this group is getting comes from the chief clans of the former SSDF and the majority clan of Puntland; only they could pay for this kind of endeavor as with 1992. And just as in 1992, Maakhir is being used as a cover because its a massive empty mountainous region with no visible human life or armed force to flank them. I can't believe people think that the stone age villagers of Badhan, Dahar, and Las Qoray could muster the funds to pull this off, lol. This money is coming from businessmen in Galkacyo, Garowe, and Bosaso (not counting recent Maakhiri migrants).
  17. Originally posted by Xudeedi: This is a fabricated news. This is a clan war as the interview in BBC indicated. Calm down, you just want your clan to get some attention by putting a clan spin on this. Fact is most of his sympathizers are from the "SSDF" clan. Maakhir/Haylaan, whatever that barren mountain region is called is terribly impoverished and its residents run to Bosaso and Garowe for economic opportunity. Maakhiris/Haylaan folk don't have enough money to create a makeshift port in Las Qoray or build an adequate armed group without the help of Puntland, I doubt they could ever construct a force strong enough to face Puntland like this. 90% of the money if not the force, comes from the "SSDF" clan as you would say. The fact that some leaders of the group were hiding out in Bargaal not long ago just tells you how this isn't a one-clan operation.
