    Baashi..if you are thinking that Jr Kenyatta will be any different that the rest of the bourgeoisies you are in for a shock. But soon or later...ethnic clashes will result if Kenya continues w/its current path (focussed on "periphery" threats/diplomacy like the Mission in Somalia..expanding west's neo-imperio/humanitarianism).

    The somali-kenyan relationship irrespective of what others on this forum call it (foe or friend) will clash mostly on this project (if indeed we come to terms w/our senses). But as long the FG is busy overseeing & controlling “emerging threats” -regional polarizations from past convulsions (I am not against the federal govt , i feel that their priorities aren’t in order), the European companies & their allies will milk this project & the Somali resources dry until its too late & then another regional instability will reign from both sides, the Ethiopian/Oromo invasion from west & the laan’gare (limping so called Kenyan govt) & its European allies form the East & the seas. N'ways what do i know about politics :D

    ***caution..I have no research background nor have studied swahili except in Madrasa :D & in school (Kenya, be it GHC classes, Geography, History & Civics classes lol..)..or otherwise reading...

     

    Its the lingua franca like Spanish in S. America, spread through E. AFrican trade routes & originated from inter-marriage btwn mostly Arabs/persian speaking dialects w/the bantu inhabitants of coastal East Africa (remember swahili has many languages in IT, portuguese, german, persian, Urdu, etc). Swahili's were colonized & enslaved (I refute to say that it preceded PRE_COLONIAL). Infact, the colonization of E. Africa & E-African slave trade was gradual & at times punctuated (periods of high volumes & low volumes of slave trade) that lasted many centuries (unlike the Trans-atlantic slave trade), than the SCRAMBLE for Africa.

    ***(this is more of Malika's lingo, & those of coastal Kenya i.e Mombasa, malindi, lamu & the rest of coastal zanzi & Tanzania). They tend to condense words whereas in Mainland (inland) Kenya we use the whole word. For example.

     

    YE (YEYE) =Isaga/ayada

    Mie (Mi) (MIMI)=aniga

     

    They (coastal that is) as well tend to use more fasihi swahili (Fasiix or as swahili's in inland kenya say SANIFU).

     

    N'ways here is a few words to your collections:-

     

    Ujambo mpwendwa (see tahay gacaliso :D)-how are you my dear ?

    U hali gani (xaaladada?? meaning xaaladada ka waran ?)

     

    If you are the receiver of greetings? you should reply,

    safi (saafi, fican/good)?

     

    ***the most common words :D are: Sawa (haye), Safi or Safi kabisa (could be used to reply after greetings..), twende (let's go)., badaye/tutaonana badaye (later/we'll see each other later), Leo (today).

     

    Coofle..utafurahiya kujifunza kiswahili ni lugha safi kabisa (you'll be happy to learn swahili, its a good language)...***the words safi has been used here in the context to mean good, however, it could be translated differently depending on the contexts.

     

    ***by the way..some words are derived from portuguese, germany, Persian languages.
