  1. ^^ walaal, the point, mr Che is making is this.. if GalMuud is not defined by clan, and is for all Somalis then why do you propose marking out and bordering it up. And since borders are there to keep out as much as they keep in, who are you proposing to keep out? p.s. -- I for one am at least for the reversion to SOMALI names, rather than the *LAND* this *LAND* that %$%^!
  2. one more thing LXXX. Honesty... Be honest with your conscience when you write. What this means is that don't always gloss, and be as ready to admit the failings of your position as you are when boasting it's virtues. No political ideology, doctrine or side is clean and benevolent -- by definition, having a side means denying another group its interests, therefore politics is always a game of interests, and being accepting and upfront with those shows that your understand the consequences of your choices for others, and it makes it clear to your opponent that you ave at least though about their position. Though i wish it wern't the case, [and this goes to the forum generals] it would be dishonest to say that political affiliation and identity are not tied in the majority of cases. You will always find some group that undermines your interests for good or bad, as you will always find some group whose interests you undermine. This is fine, it is politics, but in order to find consensus you must at least be willing the accept these penalties or at least be willing to acknowledge them.. screaming at the top of your voice is like barking at a wall, it makes no difference. So in short, place yourself in the shoes of other and remember that dialogue is based on compromise and compromise starts with honesty.

  5. ------------ CG Are you vegetarian? -------------------- no, i'm not. .. and i'm just pulling lilly's lilly leg .. but really this $hit ggrrrr's me. I've got back from Switzerland, and honestly it sickened me to see women of all ages swanning around in carcasses of dead foxes ---eeeekk
  6. ------ I prefer cows anyway, they are friendly animals. --------- and what. so they are easier to kill, they have softer bellies for stoking ?
  7. -------- It's unislamic to kill animals for sport. Anyways, that is one beautiful bag but would it have made any difference to it's style if it was made from leather? Nope! ---- only if you killed the alligator to eat it first
  8. There is nothing more unattractive than the sight of people wrapped in or around the skin of an animal whose sole purpose in life became to be killed for the latest fad... at least leather comes from animals that are eaten by people. There are easier ways to advertise that your a retard than pay 13K for a 2x2 of an alligator's belly!
  9. the point, really i don't have the inclination or energy to argue this point, so lets just set the facts straight 1. on the family planning issue -- your wrong 2. on the individual responsibility -- you have a slight point, but it requires us to detach the individual from the effect of their environment 3. the fatherhood things, -- ask your self, what kind of father figures did these men have? lazy, i have made my apology to the dear mr smith, i just think he should customise his message to his audience -- as for the community leaders. you have a point, sadly you need less cynical lot than this bunch
  10. ^^ walaal, first, i'm sorry to have made you feel that way, i know that as much of a bad excuse for a retard norf is, he has good heart and has on rare occasions been known to express something resembling a poor excuse for a coherent opinion. YOu see the exercise of mentally tormenting each other on these good forums is our favourite form of keyboard jousting. and on a side note, if you feel you might need tutoring in these dark arts, I'm certain that our esteemed colleague Xiin could provide some exemplary training. On a practical note, the poor s0d that norf is, he is stuck behind the great firewall of arab (in?)decency, so i'm not really sure whether he can actually view youtube without resorting to proxying through the netherlands via the russian mafia. As for me, for the vast majority of time, i'm stuck behind the black screen of esoteric redundancy known as emacs. so forget videos, if i as much as manage to load an image, i see it as a personal triumph over adversity. so please, see this as a plea for us to partake in a discussion with you, rather be an audience to your commentary -- and again, i hope i have not terminally offend you.
  11. me, that's another BS statement i don't know about you but most Nigerians i know are extremely hard working and high achieving (and lets not forget loud) people. In the UK, the public health sector would crawl to halt without them. If you go to the big private institutions, typically the few black people they have in high-office tend to nigerian
  12. NinBrown, where are the somalians I've never met one, are they related to the somali people in anyway -- Yes the issue is complex but it really comes down whether your talking about forming or remoulding a society, I'm in agreement with Rahima and Promegranate on this one.
  13. idil, first, i warn you, i'm no biologist, and have only studied evolution from a mechanical perspective .. when the real biologists evolve out of their caves, they will be able to give you more detailed answers than me... having said that, your sea wasp case is fantastic example of a reactive mechanism, where no deliberation exists between sensing and reacting - I think this tells us something about the modularity of the brain. Though a lot of resources associated with vision are shared across the brain, for example, memory and pattern identification, the core of the processing is localised, and hence specific to interpreting patterns of light. Therefore i would guess that it is this part of the brain the evolves with the eye. Also, first, selective pressure - mechanically anyway- obeys a law of conservation of energy strictly, so a feature, should not consume more energy than it brings in, therefore, specialisation is a very much encouraged. This explains why reactive/autonomic system might stay that way if it is successful. second, there is nothing to say that the evolution of the eye was a linear process, i.e. it started at X and developed directly to Y. The evidence from other system, i.e. bipedalism, streamlining in aquatic animals suggest that the same design (say body shape of dolphins v sharks) evolved to the same solution independently and repeatedly. so, having an eye of some sort does not necessarily constitute a requirement of a vision processing brain. nor does it mean that all vision processing structures are the same/do the same or have the same parent. -- the other questions i'll leave to the real biologists (hint hint)
  14. point, in many many ways I share your sentiments, but it is difficult to ignore the the basic and common facts. The seeds of this bitter tale have been sawn long ago, regardless of whether you or i consider them lucky or unlucky, we cannot remould their lives to re-evaluate their direction easily and often by the time it comes to realising the need for a remould, it is often too late. take the UK, by the time your 16 the society has already defined a large aspect of the life you will lead (education, health, wealth, prospects..) and it takes a lot of personal character to redirect your self away from it. So really if your talking about changing a society and not remoulding characters away from and to various paths, you've got to get in on the formative years. If the role of parents is then to help their children in these early years, you have to take into account the amount of attention a given child has from their parents. Take an ideal case, 2 parent and say 4 children, assume that you have loving caring providing ... parents that share their attention equally between the children. In this case, at best children get *1/4 of a parents full attention* each. Now take 6 children, they now get 1/6 ... you get the point, the point (couldn't help it). Now add the effect of parent's socio-economic level on their children's prospects - studies show that the children end up pretty much in the same position as their parents -- and social mobilty is disproportionally weighted against those from highly under privileged backgrounds, i.e. if your from a poor broken family stats say your much more like to be in trouble than middle class child from a broken family. So in effect taken together and you have trouble, at least statistical trouble. All this is a generalisation and says very little about the individual circumstances and there are plenty of successes. However, the overwhelming conclusion of studies is that family planning matters and has direct *long-term* effect on the quality of life for the family as a whole. so having given you my condensed 'how in god's name'... gimme your anti
  15. Warrior of Light, Geel_jire, walaalo, this wasn't a question of your faith or conviction, so don't get it confused. Idil asked a question and deserved an answer, not a testimony of faith
  16. Promegranate, in many ways i agree with you. i've long supported family planning in the somali community. Its painful to see young mothers with 7 kids all under the age of 10. The 'insha-alah, rasaqada cirka bay ka soo dhici' attitude is ingrained in our culture, dadka caruur bay ku duceystaan / looguna duceeya - wali maan maqlin qof soomaali oo dhahaya- "caruur aad korsan karitid baan kuugu duceyey" oor masa ku duceysta. marka waxa waa dhaqan. and the only way to change this it to empower woman with education and family planning resources then place them in a position to control the size of their families.

  18. Idil, evolution is not targeted, it does not aim to create this or better that, so wrt the question about the eye and brain, you can assume that there was no grand plan, but a sort osmosis. Evolution says that at one point, the muted genes that encode for very primitive light sensors and those that encode for light detect coincided and proved beneficial for the organism that had them. and because they were beneficial, they were preferentially selected - i.e. the organism was fitter and reproduced more, and thereby passed on its characteristics - i.e. in the same way that we breed animals for color/shape/size etc... hence the part of the brain responsible for analysing light and the eye co-evolved.
  19. Cige, the blame lies with each and every individual that has made a choice to destroy, not just those who have placed weapons in their hands. Jaceylbro, you still owe me the 'culture' explanation
  20. no no no, that's were the heat conservation of body hair comes in. As we age, unlike our poor women, we get more of the good stuff on our chests hence we build a natural air barrier to stop heat escaping our bodies.. .
  21. Originally posted by Naden: I wonder why 65 year old women don't march for the right to bare their breasts. No, nothing to do with looks, since the bodies metabolism deteriorates with age, its simply that they colder faster, and therefore going swedish constitutes a serious heath risk
