  1. Article 12 - Freedom of Worship 1. Every person has the freedom to worship in what he/she believes and shall not be forced to accept another. 2. A Muslim cannot renounce his/her religion They're going to have change the title of Article 12, i think
  2. I thought it was fascinating The clerics' logic was very interesting as well, The crux of their argument was that God allows us to change the nature of his creations, we are allowed to change wheat to flour so then we must be allowed to change man to woman. First of all, how can he compare a food to the human being? Secondly if God allows us to change our nature, then why should he ban Homosexuality? If having intimate relations with the same sex is unnatural, then what is gender reassignment? Then there are the social issues; what is amazing is that Homosexuality is the worst thing an Iranian can do, even according to the transexuals in the documentary (one of them said she would never befriend one)but when it comes to transsexuals, the immediate family disown them whilst society more or less tolerates them. The public trusts the judgement of their clerics, and this fact is used by one of the older transsexuals to persuade the family of another transexual about to undergo the operation.
  3. ^^Well done Today, the gym was closed, so i wasted time watching Lock, stock and 2 smoking barrels, and some other classics.
  4. He can't help himself, since the Independence of Kosovo the number of meaningless seccessionist threads has seen a sharp rise.
  5. Bloody hell, stretched the thread out of shape Anybody know who that is on our seat?

  7. Mustafa Mohamed He came second in the last year's European Cross-country championships and came 4th in the 3000 steeplechase (best 'European', the medal positions went to a Kenyan cleansweep) link He broke the Swedish all time record as well. So we have Mohamed 'Mo' Farah and Mustafa Mohamed on this side of the pond, and i know the US has a healthy number of Somali long distance runners - all we need now is a country
  8. ps the commentator mentioned all Arab capitals in celebratory mood but guess which capital he forgot If you were listening to the same commentary i was (ART) he added them on at the end 'Wa muqdishoo, wa Jibutii.....kule dawla carabii'
  9. ^^ Bit of an akward chap though, what?
  10. palm tree nope, forest in autumn yes Have you broken any bones?
  11. because they're too lazy to grow them How many years do you have left before you seriously need to consider settling down-Somali style?
  12. I was writing with that criminal in mind. His ilk will always find such opportunities. But, remember he was installed by a corrupt transitional government, by a corrupt and criminal president. That is why we need new blood, a clean slate with a meritocratic government of unblemished technocrats, which is transparent and which is structured and regulated to dilute qabiil-politics.
  13. 50 years ago Italian/Russian/American educated Somalis returned to a Somalia where the foundations were being laid, with rich pickings to be had, money to be laundered, corrupt dealings to be made. This diaspora inherits a war-ravaged, utterly broken land; a whole different ball-game, if we've learned our lesson from the 17 years of anarchy, that is.
  14. Malaysians have managed to build a nation to be proud of, they've grappled with (and still are) different ethnicities and religions. The government is a role model for Islamic governance. Somali malaysians are doing a great job. A lot is resting on foreign educated Somalis. We've witnessed almost two decades of anarchy, and the Diaspora (Diasporas have played pivotal roles in the politics of troubled Nations) is churning out thousands of students and academics, fresh minds and entrepeneurs. Can our Diaspora which has had almost 20 years to lick its wounds start to play a more significant role in Somalia's future, than merely acting as a cash cow for the ongoing strife?
  15. Visit a complicated household, and finish reading 'Lords of the Bow' by Conn Iggulden (if i dont do so tonight) How many people do you live with?
  16. I stayed there last summer, beautiful beaches, massive malls, and a blessed breeze which made the heat tolerable.
  17. Nothing, i've never purchased any of their clothes What hospital were you born at?
  18. Of course it is, but not all of us are in a position to appreciate its beauty. How do you move on when you can't have something/someone you want?
  19. You mean you dont want to change nappies for infinity
  20. ^^ or any kind of intense exercise. I went to the gym today and i can hardly keep my eyes open
  21. iris- Goo Goo dolls E: Mediocre, but getting home early made up for it How determined will you be to live in Somalia when/if things work out?
  22. i think 4/5 at the moment when was the last time you fake-smiled?
  23. Marc (i envisage a change to 'Somalia's last hope' before too long ) has caused a bit of a stir since he blundered into SOL with his promotional threads. Credit where credit is due though, he's putting a lot of effort into 'representing his views to the mainstream' , but i doubt he's caused as much of a ripple as he'd like to think- for all his 'bringing in to the ppl' and 'using a new medium',unfortunately it will take a lot more than some unhelpful(see 'Eurotrash') amateur vids by a grandstanding student i'm afraid. But it's a start, we shouldnt dismiss his or anybody's attempt to understand what's happening to Somali communities- the semblance of genuine concern amongst this new generation in itself is something to be glad about- though his words be unconstructive and ignorant at times.
  24. i wouldnt marry a somali man, period What is keeping you from fulfilling your dreams?
