  1. What's your favourite Spike Lee joint? I liked this film as a kid, and I belive it was Spike's first movie, ah Chanel 4..... Jungle Fever the one Wesley Snipes falls for that Italian secretery of his, and which has Hale Barry as a crackhead. That was good in its day, kind of dated now though....
  2. ^^American made Haiti the poorest country in the Western world. But you as a man who knows history knew that already right?

    Worried

I think he can do it. Though 5 is an expert at confusing the hell out of people. This epic struggle for 5, reminds me of the ancient Greek story of Thetis the nympth and Peleus the human King. Thetis was arranged to marry the mortal Peleus but she refused. Chiron the centaur [half man, half horse] creature advised Peleus to find Thetis asleep and bind her tightly in order to keep her from shafe shifting and then escaping him. Peleus managed to tie her down and hold her, she changed into many shapes to scare him of, he held her tight until she gave up and consented to marry him. Thetis later gave Peleus a son, Achilles who is arguably one the greatest warriors in Greek Mythology. The moral of the story is, brother GdWonder those who dare win, be like Peleus and dont give up on your quest, subdue the lady..
  4. Nothing sad about it lads, you seem to want blood shed and fake peace. If implemented this will result in a managable system The city will have two admins, the admins will take taxes from the areas they control. Just like the many cities in America that have clear boundries and local laws. The population can move around and live, trade where they see fit. They will have to pay the taxes to the admin their area falls under. Galmudug will get its Baraxlay, Puntland its districts and no more confusion. Each admin will be responsible for inforcing the law in the areas they control and make investments into those areas. Simple really.
  5. Israel apologises to Turkey over snub 13 Jan 13, 2010 - 12:00:25 PM Israel has apologised to Turkey in an effort to defuse a row over the treatment of its envoy in Tel Aviv. Israel's prime minister said he hoped this "would end the affair". Ankara had threatened to withdraw the ambassador unless it received a formal apology from Israel by Wednesday evening. The row began when the envoy was summoned to Israel's foreign ministry over a Turkish TV series portraying Israeli agents kidnapping babies. Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon summoned Ambassador Oguz Celikkol to rebuke him over the fictional television series Valley of the Wolves, popular in Turkey. Mr Ayalon ensured the ambassador was seated on a lower chair and removed the Turkish flag from the table. Turkish President Abdullah Gul said the ambassador would "return on the first plane" on Thursday unless Israel issued a public apology. In the letter of apology, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "again expressed his concern over the cooling of the ties between Israel and Turkey" and instructed officials "to find ways to prevent this trend", according to a statement from his office. 'Repeated provocation' Footage of Mr Ayalon urging journalists to make clear the ambassador was seated on a low sofa, while the Israeli officials were in much higher chairs, has been widely broadcast by the Israeli media. He is also heard pointing out in Hebrew that "there is only one flag" and "we are not smiling". "In terms of the diplomatic tactics available, this was the minimum that was warranted given the repeated provocation by political and other players in Turkey," he said, according to Reuters. One Israeli newspaper marked the height difference in a photo, and captioned it "the height of humiliation". Last October Israel complained over another Turkish series, which depicted Israeli soldiers killing Palestinians. In one clip, an Israeli soldier shoots dead a smiling young girl at close range. The row comes ahead of a planned visit by Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak to Turkey on Sunday. Turkey has long been an ally of Israel, but relations have deteriorated as Ankara has repeatedly criticised Israel for its offensive in Gaza a year ago. Rights groups say about 1,400 Palestinians died during the operation, which Israel said had been aimed at ending rocket fire by Hamas. Thirteen Israelis died during the violence. Source: BBC
  6. 100,000 feared dead after Haiti quake 13 Jan 13, 2010 - 6:56:59 AM Bodies are being piled up on the streets of Haiti's capital as the country's Prime Minister estimates 100,000 people might have died in yesterday's earthquake. People have pulled bodies from collapsed homes, covering them with sheets by the side of the road, and passers-by are lifting the sheets to see if their loved ones are underneath. As he toured the devastated capital Port-au-Prince overnight Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive said the death toll could be enormous. "I believe that we are well over 100,000," he said. "I've seen so many buildings, so many neighbourhoods totally destroyed, and in some neighbourhoods we don't even see people," he said. Haitian President Rene Preval described the scene as "unimaginable" and said he also feared that thousands of people had been killed. "Parliament has collapsed. The tax office has collapsed. Schools have collapsed. Hospitals have collapsed," he said. Mr Preval described stepping over dead bodies and hearing the cries of those trapped inside the collapsed Parliament, where the senate president was among those pinned under the wreckage. "There are a lot of schools that have a lot of dead people in them," he told the Miami Herald. "All of the hospitals are packed with people. It is a catastrophe." Thousands of buildings including schools, hospitals and homes have collapsed. Even the presidential palace and the capital's main prison have turned to rubble. The United Nations says its peacekeeping headquarters have also been destroyed and more than 100 of its staff are missing. The International Red Cross says one-third of Haiti's 9 million people may need emergency aid and governments and charities around the world are mobilising in an urgent effort to get the aid effort underway. Aftershocks have continued to rock the country as Haitians, many afraid to return to their homes, come to terms with the scale of the disaster. The quake's epicentre was only 16 kilometres from the capital Port-au-Prince. About 4 million people live in the city and surrounding area. The 7.0 magnitude quake was the most powerful to hit Haiti in more than 200 years, according to the US Geological Survey. The International Red Cross in Geneva has warned that with roads blocked and almost all communication lines down, it is extremely difficult to accurately assess the situation in Haiti. It believes up to 3 million people could be homeless, injured or dead. Television footage from Port-au-Prince showed scenes of chaos on the streets with people sobbing and appearing dazed amid the rubble. 'Unwavering support' US President Barack Obama has vowed "unwavering support" to help Haiti recover from a devastating earthquake. Mr Obama told reporters he had directed his administration to provide swift, coordinated help to save lives. "This morning I want to extend to the people of Haiti the deep condolences and unwavering support of the American people following yesterday's terrible earthquake," he said. "We are just now beginning to learn the extent of the devastation, but the reports and images that we've seen of collapsed hospitals, crumbled homes and men and women carrying their injured neighbours through the streets are truly heart-wrenching. "I have directed my administration to respond with a swift, coordinated and aggressive effort to save lives. "The people of Haiti will have the full support of the United States in the urgent effort to rescue those trapped beneath the rubble and to deliver the humanitarian relief - the food, water and medicine - that Haitians will need in the coming days," he said. A late-night White House meeting involving various arms of the government took place to coordinate the US response. The State Department urged Americans not to travel to Haiti. In Geneva, UN officials said they expected the world body would issue an international emergency appeal for funds and other assistance for Haiti in the next few days, once needs on the ground had been assessed. Germany was sending 1 million euros in immediate aid, Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said, adding "I'm shocked by the dimensions of the earthquake disaster in Haiti." The Inter-American Development Bank said it would provide $200,000 in immediate aid. The World Bank, which said its local offices were destroyed but most staff were safe, planned to send a team to help assess damage and plan a recovery. The US Coast Guard said it was sending cutters and aircraft close to Haiti to give humanitarian assistance. The United States, Britain, Canada and France were sending reconnaissance and rescue teams, some with search dogs and heavy equipment.
  7. ^^^Ibti is a good sport lets leave it at that, aside from the final comments the whole thread did not verge into the usual cussing match.. Anyhow tata..
  8. ^^Jacphar no need to engage the dude, he is just trying to impress the "married" woman he is defending...
  9. Good news, there should be a clear boundry where the two admins function. Anyone who steps out of line should be dealt with by both admin.
  10. Comparing AYOUB & Tuujiye is like comparing light and day. Tuujiye is a class act, a man I have never had any issues with. AYOUB is my secessionist brother who jumps everytime he hears the name Duke..
  11. But Midka ay dhahaan secessioner lord Ayoub, kaa waa mid loo fiirsado, waayo Dukey haduu gabadh niga soo doonto oo hadana laagu waco clannist, waxaas masuurto galayaan, Waayoo, hadduu clannist yahey, why uu gabadh nigasoo doonanaa?? 10 gabdhood oo cida eh aa Garoowe u joogto, 4 oo bahda yey eh, ee please refrain from attacking individuals, instead, why not stage another event about secession, that ought to keep you busy? Its funny how the secessionists seem to be most angry in this thread? Why is that.. The peace process has failed, its back to the usual SOL trench warfare, no one can blame me i tried for peace, but one can not reason with secessionists..
  12. Heavy fighting erupts in central Somalia, 16 killed 12 Jan 12, 2010 - 12:31:05 PM At least 16 people, mostly fighters have been killed and more than 21 others injured in heavy clashes between pro-government Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jamaa and Al-Shabaab insurgent group in a central Somali village. The fighting broke out on Monday and continued into late Tuesday in Wabho village, near the central town of Elbur in Galgadud region where the two sides engaged on heavy gun battle. Sheikh Abdullahi Abdirahman Abu Yussuf, a spokesman for the Ahlu-Sunnah group claimed that they have killed several of Al-Shabaab fighters. "The fighting, which started early today and stopped later in the day was intense. Some of the dead bodies of Al-Shabaab fighters are scattered all over the place," he said, adding that the village together with neighbouring Warhole is still under their control. The casualty from yesterday’s fighting is reportedly over 10 with some buried early today before the resumption of the clashes. Clashes also rocked Warhole early on Tuesday and some reports suggest that as many as 12 people have been killed. Abu Yussuf has vowed to continue with the fighter until they capture Elbur, a military base for Al-Shabaab. "We will not stop the fighting until we seize the control of Elbur, which is currently under Al-Shabaab. We are prepared to clear the region from any Al-Shabaab power,” he noted. A l-Shabaab officials are yet to comment about the latest clashes. The two groups, which have been battling for the last two years, have started this year with heavy military confrontation over the control of major towns in central Somalia, which claimed the lives of more than 80 people. 15. Wyclef Jean lends voice to Haiti earthquake cause Jean has urged the international community to "rise to the occasion" Haitian-born rap star Wyclef Jean has urged fans to donate to relief efforts in the wake of the huge earthquake that struck the Caribbean state on Tuesday. "Your money will help with relief efforts," he wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter. "They need our help - please help if you can." The former Fugees star has since said he is now on his way to the Caribbean state, via the Dominican Republic. "Pray for the people of Haiti [and] me please," he posted. Jean, 37, was made a roving ambassador for Haiti in 2007 and provides humanitarian aid and assistance through his Yele Haiti foundation. 'Unprecedented proportion' Thousands are feared dead after the 7.0-magnitude quake, which struck south of the capital, Port-au-Prince, on Tuesday. On his website, Jean said Haiti had suffered "a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion... unlike anything the country has ever experienced. "I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse." The singer, who gained fame as a member of hip-hop trio The Fugees, was born in Haiti in 1972 but moved with his family to New York when he was nine.
  16. Haiti earthquake adds to woes of a benighted countryPoorest country in the western hemisphere is ill equipped to deal with natural disasters guardian.co.uk, Wednesday 13 January 2010 10.34 GMT The earthquake that has hit Haiti, raising fears that thousands have been killed, is the latest in a long line of natural disasters to befall a country ill equipped to deal with such events. Hurricanes and flooding are perennial concerns for the poorest country in the western hemisphere, which has time and again been dependent on foreign aid in emergencies. In 1963 hurricane Flora, the sixth deadliest Atlantic hurricane in history, devastated the island. The US weather bureau estimated the death toll at 5,000 and the cost of damage to property and crops at between $125m and $180m. The country was struck by two disasters in 2004. In May heavy rains caused flooding that killed more than 2,000 people. Four months later mudslides and flooding caused by hurricane Jeanne, the 12th deadliest Atlantic hurricane, killed more than 3,000 people, mostly in the town of Gonaives. Tragedy struck again in 2008 when four storms – tropical storm Fay, hurricane Gustav, hurricane Hanna and hurricane Ike – dumped heavy rains on the country. Around 1,000 people died and 800,000 were left homeless. The number of people affected by the storms was put at 800,000 – almost 10% of the population – with the damage estimated at $1bn. Deforestation that allows rainwater to wash down mountain slopes is believed to have exacerbated many of the natural disasters in Haiti. Two-thirds of Haitians live off the land and the same proportion on less than $2 (£1.25) a day, so the impact of such tragedies has been long lasting. Haitians have had to contend with political turmoil. The country elected its first democratic president in 1990 after almost three decades of bloody rule by Francois "Papa Doc" Duvalier and his son, Jean-Claude "Baby Doc" Duvalier. Jean-Bertrand Aristide, the slum priest elected in 1990, was overthrown a year later but restored after the intervention of US troops. He was ejected again in 2004 in a bloody coup amid accusations that his party had rigged legislative elections, pocketed millions of dollars in foreign aid and sent gangsters to attack opponents.

  22. Thousands of people are feared dead after a powerful earthquake hit Haiti, toppling buildings in the capital, Port-au-Prince, and triggering repeated aftershocks. A 7.0 magnitude quake – the biggest recorded in this part of the Caribbean and the largest to hit Haiti in more than 200 years – rocked Port-au-Prince last night, destroying a hospital and sending houses tumbling into ravines. "There must be thousands of people dead," Sara Fajardo, a spokeswoman for Catholic Relief Services, told the Los Angeles Times. International aid groups are planning a major disaster relief effort. The international Red Cross said up to 3 million people could be affected. The headquarters of the UN peacekeeping mission in Haiti has collapsed and a large number of UN personnel are missing, according to Alain Le Roy, the head of UN peacekeeping. At least 11 peacekeepers were reportedly killed – eight from China and three from Jordan. Le Roy told reporters that UN troops, mostly from Brazil, were trying to rescue people from the wreckage of the five-storey building but "as we speak no one has been rescued from this main headquarters". Gareth Owen, emergencies director at Save the Children, which has about 60 staff in Haiti, said: "We are very concerned about the high likelihood of a significant loss of life because Port-au-Prince is a very densely populated city and the earthquake epicentre was very close to it." No official estimate of the death toll has been possible but it is clear tens of thousands of people have had their homes destroyed in Port-au-Prince, which has a population of about 1 million, and that many people have perished. The UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs said initial reports suggested "a high number of casualties and widespread damage, with an urgent need for search and rescue".
  23. Dear Ibti, I hope this message finds you in good health at a warm place with a smile on your face. I will be brief dear since there are other events taking place around the world that require my attention and reporting in SOL. I hope you understand that this was a mere political transaction and not a matter of the heart. As such it did not require any emotional outburst nor should it have ever been personal. You are indeed a secessionist gem, the way you always defend the cause and the clan is remarkable, while I detest NW secessionism in all its forms, I saw an opportunity in you as the sole secessionist female advocate in SOL. In the long pioneering tradition of my forefathers I ventured into the abyss without blinking. I have no regrets, and don’t pay any lip service to the various cowards who hide in the shadows making unnecessary comments and losing the plot at every turn. You are much braver than the bigwigs, who only sent unintelligible communications in secret channels, and thus frustrated my appointee S*S a great deal. I welcome the long response that you penned on this thread and the fact that you put a great deal of energy and feeling into every line dedicated to the Duke. This fact in itself is a testament that if the circumstances were a little different that our union could have been fruitful. I will no doubt have to review my information gathering apparatus after this, since I was “wrongly” informed aside from your bravado, that indeed you was single and looking for a Somali husband. I thank the heavens that I am not love struck nor inexperienced like the secessionist Seekawe, who’s heart today is torn in so many ways. I will also defend the girls especially CL, who tried their best to make this happen and who encouraged me every step of the way thank you. I also appreciate my Qardo friend and claimer to the Kings lineage S*S, while we always have had our differences and you have proven to be a good cousin and we might review your Puntland status after this. Thanks to eedo KK, who’s words of wisdom, helped me allot. Abti Johny B, for his warnings and the rest who contributed to this landmark thread in SOL. To the secessionists bigwigs and little shorts, the peace treaty is over, prepare for a renewed engagement insha Allah this decade we the unionists will prevail and restore the republic finnaly. The Duke.
