hadaan wax u qaban waayo umada soomaaliyeed meel iskama fariisanaayo oo waxaan idinleeyahay kaalayay xukunka igala wareega hoosheeda waan gudan waaye Those who fight are fighting for their looted gains not for the clan. For the clan need's roads, water and medicine not more death and destruction.

lol. Desperate people trying to hide the truth. 14 years of war which killed more tha a million. Looted homes and properties. A nation of criminal gangsters and scrap merchants. A generation lost to poverty, violence. A dumbing ground for toxic waste. A divided country. And people are chasing a non existant enemy. Somalia was detroyed by Somali's and now its up to Somali's to fix it. So bare with the government the game has just begun.

The likes of C/laahi Yuusuf don't care about the future fate of our sociaty, What are you on about dude. What have you done for the people of your country or society? Have you seen Xafuun after the Tsunami? I and others here have doubts about this project being fullfiled but I would love to see a new Xafuun and developments throught Puntland. What other means does our bankrupt nation have? It just sounds too good to be true, but please stop using the same emotive and baseless arguments. You have no right to tell anyone what to do brother.

How much did they pay for that particular show? Kinda like those ol dudes dressed giving the salute to Sharifka. I wonder why dont all those masses just walk on the port and airport and force it open. Its just drama but Juma is part of the coordinators right.

YAA YIRI MUQDISHO WAA NABAD!: Who said Mogadishu is peaceful?
General Duke replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Bottom line is, when was the last time you actually went to the capital? If you have not been, then please for the love of God don't speak about it. I have relatives in the capital dear; some have gone back others never left. My own younger brother went there last summer and he found it hard to swallow. As for the rosy picture I don’t buy it, the Islamic courts you claim so much love for are the same ones who occupy people’s homes and farms. And who dig out graves. They are clan courts run by militias exclusive to one or two sub clans. As for me I have lost my own uncle just a couple of weeks ago in the madness that is Mogadishu. His name was may Allah give him peace Abdirizaq Warsame Elmi also known as [ina Majaweyne] my mother’s first cousin, an educationalist a peaceful man who never left Mogadishu throughout and was murdered for what? Ask Juma for conformation of this. So you see dear you can excuse all you want, Mogadishu was a jewel and could still become a wonderful place, but today it’s a shell a hallow shell where might is right. It’s where the warlords and scrap merchants rule with an iron fist. No doubt that businessmen like Abdirashid Ilqayte, Half, Daylaf, Bashir Rage and others live in splendour. Their hotels and houses are wonderful, and their kids go to private schools. What of the refugee camps littering the city. The old quarters the sound of gunfire and Technicals roaming the streets. What about the wasted generation condemned to a life of poverty and neglect? Hanah/Rahima, you are blinding yourself from the truth dear, you went back to Xamar with your dollars and you were protected by your well armed clan. However thing about the girls who don’t have the fortune like yourself of belonging to the big guns as well as hiving the big western bucks. To me the argument has always been simple. Bring back security and justice and most of our problems will be solved. Those like you and Juma who argue emotively will do us no good nor can they prevent what will unfold. -
Sheikh Muhammed bin Awad, We need more info on this company from their website I only got a very little information. However if they can finance the deal it would transform not only Puntland but Somalia as a whole. Its ambitious but I doubt they can pull this off. Remember the UAE was developed around their oil riches. Also there is no timeline to these supposed projects apart from a 99 year lease. US group warns on choice of peacekeepers to Somalia

YAA YIRI MUQDISHO WAA NABAD!: Who said Mogadishu is peaceful?
General Duke replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Yeah its wonderful place that ol capital of ours. The port is closed The air port is closed All government institutions are closed. There are a hundred murders a years including assasinations of officers and educated individuals. There are grave robbers and money laundererd and drug dealers and outright killers. The streets are dusty and divided with millitias and so-called Islamic courts running parts of the beloved capital. Come on stop the nonsence Xamar needs to be brought back to the civilised world. -
UN calls on Somali leaders to address insecurity www.chinaview.cn 2005-02-11 01:58:11 NAIROBI, Feb. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- The United Nations on Thursday called on Somali leaders to swiftly address themselves to the growing insecurity in the capital Mogadishu, warning such violencemay jeopardize the fledgling interim government's reconstruction efforts. In a statement issued in Nairobi, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia, Maxwell Gaylard, also condemned the latest killing of BBC journalist Kate Peyton in Mogadishu on Wednesday. "All the political, religious and business leaders in Mogadishuneed to deal with this issue urgently. Attacks on civilians and the media must stop," said Gaylard. "This is the only way they can garner the support and goodwill they need for the long road to peace and reconstruction," he added. The shooting of Peyton follows a grenade attack on the HornAfrik Media Inc. premises last month. There were no casualtiesin that incident. Meanwhile, the UN Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in Somalia, Ghanim Alnajjar, has also expressed deep concern over the latest killing. "Such attacks on media outlets constitute a serious violation of Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. A freeand independent press which does not fear any party is a main pillar of any political settlement," said Alnajjar, who is in the region on his annual mission to assess the situation of human rights in Somalia. Peyton, 39, a producer based in Johannesburg, died while undergoing an operation to remove a bullet wound to her back at Mogadishu's Medina hospital after she was gunned down by unknown attackers outside a local hotel. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, but according to local reports Peyton was entering the Hotel Sahafi when two masked men drove by in a taxi and shot her in the shoulder. YAA YIRI MUQDISHO WAA NABAD! WQ: Mohamud Yusuf Garre -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jimce, February 11 2005 Waxey aheyd dhowr usbuuc horteed markii maliishiyo hubeysani qabsadeen qubuuro ay ku aasnaayeen gumeystihii Talyaaniga ee ku naf waayey dalkeena, banaankana usoo fageen haraagii, dabadeedna qashinka ku dareen. Saxaafada caalamka iyo mas'uuliyiinta Talyaaniga ayaa qeylo af labadii yeeray, waxaana ka carootay kaniisada Roman Catholic ee dalkaas Talyaaniga. Waxaan aqrinayey faalooyin ay falka fagitaanka qubuuraha ka qoreen wargeysyada caalamka, waxaana iigu darnaa faalo uu qoray wargeyska todobaadlaha ah ee Times tirsigiisa 165aad qeybtiisa 6aad ee soo baxay 7dii bishan Febraayo oo uu qormadiisa ku bilaabay "In Somalia even the dead don't rest in peace" oo macnaheedu yahay "Soomaaliya, xataa kuwa dhintay nabad ma haystaan". Falka lagu fagay qubuuraha oo ahaa mid argagax leh ayaa waxaa xigay in dhulkii laga soo fagay haraagii Talyaaniga lakala goos goostay oo ninba meel taakeystay sidii goof Alle kusii ah oo aaney cidi ka xigin. Halkii la filayey in ay hogaamiyeyaasha Muqdisho canaantaan kooxdii falka ku kacday waxey bedelkeedii bilaabeen in ay farta ku fiiqaan Cabdullaahi Yuusuf, kuna eedeeyaan in uu lacag ku bixiyay fagitaanka qubuuraha, si uu dhaawaco magaca Muqdisho. Kaba soo qaad in Cabdullaahi Yusuf lacag ku bixiyay fagitaanka qubuuraha balse su'aasha taagan waxey tahay yaa fuliyay falkaas? yaa fagay qubuuraha? ma Cabdullaahi Yuusuf baa Muqdisho yimid?. Dabcan jawaabtu waa MAYA. Kuwii fagay qubuuraha ee la sheegay in ay Cabdullaahi Yuusuf lacagta ka qaateen sow diyaar u noqon maayaan in ay lacag ku qaataan fal dembiyeed walba oo lagu waxyeeleynayo dalka iyo dadka Soomaaliyeed? Sow diyaar uma aha in ay lacag ku qaataan qaarijinta mas'uuliyiinta dowlada sida Madaxweynaha iyo Ra'iisul wasaaraha hadii ay xarunta dowladu noqoto Muqdisho?. Fagitaankii qubuuraha waa leyska ilaaway markii uu Muqdisho tegay wafdi ka socda dowladda debed jooga ah ee Nairobi yuururta. Dadweynaha Muqdisho ayaa caleemo qoyan iyo tiknikooyin fara badan kusoo dhoweeyay wafdigii dowladda ee uu hogaaminayey Gudoomiyaha Baarlamaanka Shariif Xassan Sheekh Axmed. Kumanaan qof ayaa isugu soo baxay wadooyinka si ay u marxabeeyaan wafdiga, hooyooyin calankeenii lulaya, hablo yaryar oo ubaxyo sida, odayaal cayaarihii hidaha iyo dhaqanka la boodaya, ciidankeenii qalabka siday oo salaan sharaf siinaya wafdiga, iyo Gudoomiye Shariif Xassan oo farxad la ilmeynaya, dhamaan waxey ahaayeen muuqaal aan la iloobi karin. Saxafiyada oo uu dhaawac culusi gaaray ayaa isla maalintii ku naf baxday cusbitaalka Madiina ee magaalada Muqdisho. Inkastoo goobta lagu weeraray gabadha saxafiyada ay aheyd albaabka Hotel Saxafi oo ay ilaaliyaan maliishiyooyin fara badan, sidoo kalena ay goobta ku sugnaayeen maliishiyooyin ilaalinayey wafdiga dowladda ee Hotelka degan, misana cidina sooma qaban dhagar qabayaashii falka geystay. Hadaba hadii dharaar cad Hotelka ugu amniga badan Muqdisho, iyo wafdiga dowladda ee booqanaya magaalada hortooda lagu dilay haweeney aan waxba galabsan oo ajnabi ah, isla markaana aaney cidina iska xilsaarin gacan kusoo dhigida gacan ku dhiiglayaashii falka geystay, su'aasha cid kasta is weydiineyso ayaa ah AAWAY NABADII LAGA SHEEGAY MUQDISHO? Aaway ruwaayadii quruxda badneyd ee ay soo qaban qaabiyeen hogaamiye-kooxeedyada Muqdisho?. Yaa ka mas'uul ah? Yaase loo xiray gumaadkii loo geystay saraakiishii ciidanka Xooga Dalka Soomaaliyeed ee Muqdisho lagu laayey bilihii lasoo dhaafay sida Gen. Max'ed Cabdi, Gen.Yuusuf Sarenle, Col. Ismaciil Gureey, Col.Maxamuud Bataar iyo Col. Xirsi Dhoore. Dhagar qabayaashii laayey halyeeyadii xooga dalka Soomaaliyeed yaa kahor taagan in ay laayaan hogaanka Dowladda Kumeel Gaarka ah? Iska daa Soomaalida oo u dhuun daloola arrimaha ka dhacaya dalkooda, xataa beesha caalamka ayaan aqbaleyn oraahda sheegeysa in ay nabadi ka jirto Muqdisho. Xaqiiqadu waxey tahay in aaney nabadi ka jirin Muqdisho, isla markaana aaney munaasab aheyn in ay dowladda debed jooga ahi u guurto Muqdisho. Hadiise sida uu sheegay Ra'iisul Wasaaruhu ay dowladda u guurto Muqdisho waxaa hubaal ah in ay dowladdu gacanteeda ku qodatay qabrigii lagu aasi lahaa, isla markaana ay sidaa ku dhicisowday, waxa aan sugnaana ay tahay shan sano kadib iyo shir dib u heshiisiin!!!. Dirayskaas oo feeraysan ayaa waxaa lagu kaydiyaa jananka gurigiisa. Marka Hoggaamiye u baahdo in loo ciyaaro xaflad ayaa waxaa lala soo xiriiraa jananka, dabadeed gorgortan ka dib haddii lagu heshiiyo qandaraaska ayaa galaal rag isagu jira odoyaal iyo dhallinyaro ka soo aruuriyaa xaafadaha Huriwaa iyo bakaaraha, dabadeed dirayska ayaa loo galiyaa waana la gaardisiiyaa iyadoo laga dhigayo in ciidamaddii qalabka siday ee Soomaaliya inaysan xagtini gaarin. Wuxuu jeneraalku yiraahdaa, "Anigoo ku hadlaya magaca Ciidamada Qaranka Soomaaliyeed waxaan u diyaarnahay inaan midnimadda iyo nabadgalyadda qaranka Soomaaliya aan sugayno oo aan loo baahnayn Ciidamo Shisheeye. Anagaa walaahi ku filan". Mahadi ha gaartee, BBCda Yuusuf Garaad baa ka faa'iidaysata fursadaas oo riwaayadda oo cusbaysan gaarsiisa shanta qaaradood. dabadeed, xafladdii intaas bay ku dhamaataa oo dharka dirayska ahaa ayaa la codsadaa in meesha lagu baxsho si loogu cesho hoyga Galaal. Ka dibna jananku wiilashii buu guntiga kiiba xooggaa u galiyaa oo yiraahdaa " waad mahadsantihiin waa inoo mar kale, anaa idinla soo xiriiraya munaasabad kale haday timaado". Dhawaan xafladaan munaasabadlaha ah oo aan soo sharaxnay ayaa ka dhacday magaaladda Muqdisho ka dib markii koox Baarlamaanka ka tirsani ay goosteen inay sahan ku tagaan magaaladda Muqdisho si looga hortago in Dalka Ciidamo la keeno. Intii aysan xubnahaasi ka duulin Nayroobi ayay la xiriireen jeneraal Galaal iyo raggiisii. Haddaba khidadan maxaa looga jeedaa? Akhriste Sidaad la socotay baryahaan waxaa jirtay dood ku saabsan in dalkeena la keeno ciidamo shisheeye oo dalka xasiliya iyo in kale , Doodaasi baarlamaanka iyo dowladda qaar ka mid ah ayaa ka biyo-diidsan iyagoo ka cabsanaya inay lumiyaan danahooda ku hoos jira foowdada ka taagan dalkeena hooyo maanta. Kooxdaasi waxay rabaan in Ra'yul caamka loo sheego in Muqdisho amaan tahay oo dawladdu ciidamo la'aan ka shaqayn karto si marka dowladu xamar tagto madax furasho loogu qabto. Waxaa xaqiiqo ah in guddoomiyaha Baarlaamaan Shariif Xasan iyo raggiisu aysan ajnab i ahayn oo ay garan karaan xaqiiqada dhabta ah ee ka jirta dacalada dalkeena oo ah mid foowdo ah oo ay Soomaalidu ku guuldaraysatay inay xalliyaan mudadii 15ka sanno ahayd ee la soo maray. Su'aasha taalaa hadda waxay tahay madaxwaynaha la doortay dhawaani ma siin doonaa qandaraas kale oo munaasabadle ah jaanka galaalan mise xal kaluu raadin doonaa oo Soomaali u wada dan ah?. farah Jama" shillinson@hotmail.com Nairobi, Kenya.

The president should sack these disruptive elements in his cabinet, saaxib. Can he though? Brother he will if they keep puching their luck Ato had a game all along however he has not managed even to convince the other Mogadishu ministers, this shows his weakness for while he wants to derail the government from within using emotive claim of representing the clan. Those from Hiiraan, South Mogadishu and even his own subclan do not trust his intentions for they have all been there with him in the past. Now he has to deal with the PM, Mohamed Dhere, Qaynyare, Finish, Bashir Rage. So why sack him when he will be so frustrated that he will resign, then you can replace him. The point is that A/Y has welcomed all his rivals, highlighting the moves towards reconciliation. Now those who support the actions of these individuals are not doing so because of any noble notion other than to support the clan politics. If this is the case as it seems with Juma, then he must be proud of Ato's but the old man is cornered we wait to see what his lackeys like Juma can pull out of the hat.
-
To QL, Yes Ato and Musa are part of the government, however they need to understand that governments work in consensus their opinions don’t mean nothing if they cannot convince the rest of the cabinet or MP’s in the parliament. The cabinet have passed the request for foreign troops and it will be put before the parliament soon. Why and who on earth has given the right for these two or three individuals to encourage the Somali masses to rise up against a peace keeping force their government has requested. If they don’t agree why not resign instead of using blatant clan tactics? These individuals seem to be afraid of change and do not quite know how to resist or overcome this change. As for starting a civil war, what proof have you got for this? The factions have been given notice that the government is focusing on improving the nation’s security situation. Obviously there needs to be help from some quarter to fulfil this aim. As I have said before on numerous occasions, there is no alternative and the government cannot be held hostage to any clan. It has a right to assert its authority around the country that’s its job. If one faction leader or a clan wants to go against this then they have to be dealt with. 7500 troops will not be and will not be able to occupy Somalia, however it can help the government settle in and then take care of business.
-
Juma, what capability of Ato, he is an old has been who is pushing his luck. As for Qb analysis, what on earth are you on about? The AU is made up of 50 odd countries each with different interest so why should Ethiopias alone supercede all others? As for this troop deployment, its important to note that its only 7500 troops from Igad countries and there for a limited time. Ethiopia's Tigray Junta needs a stable Somalia without which its very survival will be in danger. Consider that the Tigray are around 6 million out of a population of 67 million. The Oromo, Afar, Amhara and Somali all want a peace of the action. I only see a mutual interest, while others are overplaying the power and significance of the Ethio-Somali alliance.
-
think Ato came to calculation that he will lose most of his power if the govt Aint that the truth. NGOON, I am a Somali nationalist and I can not agree with any warlord who is trying to derail the peace process for his own ends. Like I sadi before we have a government, it has massive support in the country. It lacks the infrsutructure and institutions and finances but it has a clear agenda. To improve the national security of the nation. That means raining in the warlords and factions in and outside of the government.

Somalia condemns BBC journalist killing - Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 13:22 By Mohamed Ali Bile MOGADISHU (Reuters) - The murder of a British journalist in Somalia appears to be an attempt to scare off international efforts to rebuild the anarchic country, its new government says. "We cannot allow the forces of darkness to succeed, because more of these incidents could derail our attempt to restore order," Deputy Prime Minister Mohamud Abdullahi Jama told Reuters on Thursday. "And even if the intention was not to weaken international confidence in our government, that could be its effect." Government officials acknowledged Wednesday's killing of BBC producer Kate Peyton had cast a shadow over plans to restore order with the help of foreign troops. But it urged international donors to stay involved. Peyton, 39, was shot in the capital Mogadishu shortly after she arrived to report on the lawless Horn of Africa state where the new government is hoping to end years of militia violence. At least eight other foreign journalists have been killed in Somalia since warlords overthrew former dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991. Witnesses said a gunman approached Peyton at the gate of a hotel, fired one bullet with a pistol and then sped off in a car with other passengers. The car was found abandoned in another part of town. "We suspect this was the work of people trying to destabilise the new government and prevent foreign peacekeepers from coming to Somalia," a spokesman for President Abdullahi Yusuf said in Nairobi. "She was a soft target whose death sends a big international message," the spokesman, Yusuf Ismail Baribari, said. "But the Somali people have a message of their own -- it is that they are hostages of these gunmen and their programme of instability. They reject this cowardly killing. After 14 years of bloodshed, Somalia says enough is enough. "If the message was to scare the transitional government and the president, they have failed." NO POLICE FORCE Mogadishu has no working police force and there is no formal hunt for Peyton's killers. But residents in Mogadishu said Abdi Hassan Awale, the police chief of a previous failed attempt at government in 2000-2003, was trying to launch investigations using his network of former colleagues. The new Somali government, which was set up last year in the relative safety of neighbouring Kenya, announced on Wednesday it planned to go home on February 21. It aims to end feuding between the militias which have carved the country of up to 10 million into clan fiefdoms since 1991. Several cabinet ministers and dozens of MPs are visiting Mogadishu this week to assess security ahead of the government's return. They are due to report back in Nairobi on Friday. Although Yusuf is planning to welcome a combined African Union and Arab League force of 7,500 troops to help him establish authority, several Mogadishu warlords in his cabinet argue that local militias are all the military muscle required. Diplomats say their remarks reflect mistrust of Yusuf's intentions rather than confidence in their militias' competence. Yusuf is seen by many in Mogadishu as being too close to regional power Ethiopia, Somalia's historic foe. Source: Reuters UK

Badoa first Mogadishu second: The realist will prevail.
General Duke replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
MMA, so reer Badoa would not want to host the Somali government even for a limited time? It would be in their interest in economic terms as their battered city would develop again. As for Xamar what would it serve the government to be protected by clan millitia, what government in the world is protected by clan millitia? Its important that the government establish theier police and defence forces first then go to Mogadishu. Badoa is a Somali city, if its chosen then no one can talk about it. -
AU troops to help Somali govt February 9, 2005 Addis Ababa: The African Union had authorised an East African body to deploy troops to help the new Somali government, exiled in Kenya, move to its war-shattered country, an official statement said yesterday. The Peace and Security Council of the AU authorised Igad, the regional Inter-Governmental Authority on Development, "to deploy a peace support mission in Somalia to provide security support to the Transitional Federal Government in order to ensure its relocation to Somalia", the body said. At the AU summit in Nigeria last month, leaders said that Igad, which groups Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Uganda, Djibouti and Sudan, would initially provide troops and equipment for the mission. The AU also welcomed the commitment of Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, the Sudan and Uganda to providing troops and equipment for the mission, which will be the first since United Nations and US special forces failed to restore peace in the country between 1993 and 1995. The pan-African body, which in January accepted in principle the deployment of African troops to Somalia, bestowed Igad nations with the responsibility of initial troop deployment pending the arrival of the AU troops. An official with the AU's Peace and Security Council said that a study team was expected to arrive in Somalia on Friday to assess the situation before troops finally arrived. At the weekend, the government accepted the deployment of a peace mission. However, the decision was met with stiff opposition from the warlords who control fiefdoms across the country. The nation has been a theatre of anarchic bloodletting since President Siad Barre was toppled in 1991. - Sapa-AFP
