  1. Sad how this thread does not generate that many responses as we are too busy engaged in useless political navel gazing. This ridiculous habit is not limited to only SOLers as it is evident in the wider Somali community. Its a sort of pervasive gossip culture that grown men spend all day talking about while their brethren are abused.

  4. Yunis;872573 wrote: Absolutely nothing here to get excited about in this book, at least from the review summary provided. This can't be the result of 15 years of painstaking, duedilgence 'Baaritaan badan' that reveals wealth of historical evidence, these are eerily familiar fancy clan grievances scribbled down in the middle of Khat sessions that formed the basis of this book. Preach!

As much as I hate to acknowledge it looks the long-held view that O's are deficient in intellect is true at least in the politics sphere. How about Musse Hassan Abdulle? Sayid Mohamed's nephew, I thought he was in the running for PM.

Africa has been cursed with one bad leader after another. I read somewhere that there is something like $38 billion missing from the public purse in Angola. The thinking is that the family of the President pretty much looted all of the money and has stashed it in Portugal, Brazil and other exotic locales. This as the avg. Angolan lives on less than $2 a day. Share the effing wealth!!!! PS: These developments look like something straight out of North Korea, not segsi!
  7. Abwaan;871161 wrote: lol@....BNS.....and your nickname is almost the same. ....that is why I shorten it. And for that reason can we have our own code name for the president, one that we could use over here? No aflagaaddo iyo cay of course. Something like MJFS-HSM? And we can always change the last initials if president is replaced. LOL @ MJFS-HSM. Even the acronym is long!
  8. I think its kind of neat that the new President isn't itching to globe-trot.
  9. Bisinka, it must be tiring to write articles about the President in Somali websites/papers. I'd slit my wrists if I had to write, "Madaxweynaha Jamhuuriyadda federaalka ah ee Soomaaliya Mudane Xasan Sheekh Maxamuud" all the time.
  10. It always disgusts me when I see modern day Muslims react in the way they do, to attempts to clearly goad them into overreacting. Acting like stereotypes of what your stated say you are is rather ******. This film by all descriptions is a disgusting attempt at fomenting hate and it should be condemned. But killing people and burning stuff doesn't help in clearing up the Muslim image. But I hate to say that Im not surprised by how the people of Bengazi acted, their wild eyed mass hysteria was whipped up when it was directed at Gadaffi, now people are shocked. These guys were lynching black people, including Somalis, in public during the so-called revolution under the pretenses that those killed were Gadaffi's foot soldiers.

A bit of maturity is required from our N-Western brothers. While I agree with your sentiments, can you force people who don't want to be a part of a union with you to stay in that union? I think a plebiscite is in order on a region by region bases. While Burco and Hergeisa might go for seccession the SSC areas will not.
  13. ^^^^And here we have it, this conversation is emblematic of the real reason why Somalia will never be sane. Im happy about the new President, but let's not get it twisted, irrespective of how awesome this guy is, he won't cure the retardedness of our populace.
  14. What's the infatuation with Hotels in Somalia?
  15. General Duke;865971 wrote: Thank you for a positive post. All the other posts are downright boastful and negative. We should unite and rebuild, irrespective of the winner.
  16. I am a novice in Somali politics, so whats the background on this new President?

Its blacks killing blacks and black leaders like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton are all silent as well. Southside Chicago is seriously left abandoned by everyone like Detroit. btw, The University of Chicago which is an elite school is located at the Southside , things can't be all that bad right? The University of Southern California ( I sometimes call it Univ. of South Central) is located in South Central LA. Trust me they figure out how to create little Baghdad Green Zones around these institutions. The silence of the black leadership is deplorable.
  19. This is kinda scary. We need massive birth control programs across the world!
  20. Freaking Hippies! I bet they all had quinoa for lunch afterwards.
  21. The thing that makes this even more ridiculous is that Pres. Obama is damn near silent on this issue despite it being his home city. Imagine if the people being killed here were wealthier white people, he would be sending in Seal Team 6 into these projects. This is so upsetting because I actually voted for this guy, and hoped he would be minimally different than the 43 white dudes before him. The more things change, the more they stay the same .
