1. Too much khat has been proven to play a part in mental illness in Somalis.
2. Southerners are naive that is why there is chaos in their lands, nobody knows who is your next door he could be a suicide bomber. Knowing your clan is just security precaution in Somaliland and Puntland.
3. Galbeedi No community has interest in "Somalinimo" at heart lets not kid ourselves. The south has became a mess where foreign muscles are used to subdue other communities.
4. Kenya: Local clan in El Adde might have betrayed KDF Standard Digital By Cyrus Ombati Monday, January 25, 2016 The board of inquiry formed to probe what really happened during the attack on the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) camp in El Adde, has started its work amid claims of betrayal. Preliminary findings showed the local clan might have played a role in the attack's planning and execution. The Gedo clan lives in the El Adde, Gedo region where the camp was. It emerged three soldiers who had escaped the massacre and hidden in a village elder's house were hunted down by Al Shabaab and lynched, together with the host, after being allegedly betrayed by the villagers. "The Gedo clan feels KDF has been working to help the Qabri Dahre and other clans seen as their rivals and that is what we think drove some of them to betrayal," said a source who asked not to be named. The soldiers had apparently ran for almost five kilometres after removing their military uniform before ending up at the elder's home where they were shielded for a while. The militants attacked the military base at dawn on January 15 killing more than 100 soldiers, stole military ware and held other KDF soldiers hostage. Sources said the attack might have been planned for days and there was no way it could occur without the local clan's knowledge. The attackers used vehicle borne improvised devices, an indication they had planned the raid for a long time and exploited a tactical weakness during rotation of forces to carry out the raid. 5. The parliamentary elections is different to national elections. There is more stakes in the national elections hence more people register and will vote. Just last week over 107,000 registered in Togdheer and there is still two weeks to go it will be properly like 250,000 or more since many voters are pouring into Togdheer from Gashaamo and Danod districts of Ethiopia. According to the Ethiopian Central Statistical Agency of 2007 Gashamo woreda primarily inhabited by the West Burco community had over 95,000 while Aware now split into Daroor and south Aware had over 96,000 people. The main opposition party can easily pour hundreds of thousands into Togdheer region.
6. galbeedi Actually I am on the side of the poor people hence why I condemned the current administration for trying to deport them in 7 days so they can steal their properties to finance Musa Bixi campaign since they are running low on funds. They are playing politics with poor families lives and that is not morally correct. Just because my community is majority in Ceerigaabo doesn't mean I will turn a blind eye on wrongdoing there, this is not to be blamed on the good people of Ceerigaabo though it is the work of the government. After much pressure the Silanyo appointed governor has already backtracked. He said they are not being told to leave, I guess the gov backed down.
7. @Holac said: In hindsight, the city was lucky being controlled by one group (Somaliland) because it would have turned into another Galkacyo; lawless and dangerous. Eirigaava is an example of how a winner should manage a city while respecting the rights of the defeated lot. The only opportunity missed might have been on the growth side of things (economic, population). I checked google maps today and Eirigaava is the size of a very small town. Kudos to Saalax's relatives for keeping the peace all years past. Saalax, have you visited Erigavo? What is the clan make up there today? ( put on your unbiased hat for a min. ). I used to hear the Xudun, Badhan and Baargaal clans were all represented well in the pre-civil war era. Are things any different today? Good point, Erigavo is better that way. I have visited there before, yes things are different compared to before the war. The Badhan community mainly moved out to their exclusive towns as Badhan, Yubbe and Dhahar they urbanized those towns, the Baargaal community mainly went back to Puntland to be with their kins and a large number of the Xudun community relocated to Sool mainly Las Anod district. The big beard community is smart so they know they benefit the most from a peaceful economically thriving Erigavo so they keep the peace as the main stakeholders.
8. It does add up when you consider the Badhan community is not a very large community despite their large land in Eastern Sanaag, they are about the same size as Ahmed Godane's Baligubadle/Ahmed Dhagax district community who were also 20,000 in 1940. The 114,000 for Ceerigaabo district is from UNDP 2005 population estimations. Ceerigaabo district is the most populated district in Sanaag followed by Ceel Afweyn district according to the UNDP. Garaad Abdisalaan the head of the Badhan community is based in Badhan, they consider Badhan as their capital. There is a unsaid agreement that the Badhan community can live in Ceerigaabo but they can never try to undermine the big beards(the dominant group there), so don't expect any power struggle over management of the city anytime soon because it is not going to happen. Each community has a area in Sanaag where they are dominant and that means you can't fight them over it, this is not Jubbaland where Kenyan muscle can be used .
9. Illyria Maybe that was the calculations of Siad Bare, reality is different though. During the British Somaliland population estimations of 1940s the entire Badhan community was 20,000 while the Big beards + the central Sanaag community were 40,000. Ceerigaabo district has over 114,000 people and of that 65% are the big beards + other allied groups from West Burco. The eastern Sanaag community are only a majority in Badhan district and Dhahar, there is a reason they refer to themselves as "Eastern Sanaag" community, as for Ceel Afweyn district I am from there and it is a shared district the mayor of Dararweyne is the uncle of Saalax. I guess you have a lot to learn, things are not what they seem in Sanaag.Land size does not equate to greater population, case in point UK is much smaller than Somalia yet it has more than 6 times the population of Somalia. All those districts in Sanaag are dominated by the Eastern Mother Yunis community and they are not up for any negotiations. Ceerigaabo district- Mayor Ismaaciil Xaaji Nuur belongs to the big beard community Yufleh another district dominated by the big beards Maydh district mayor - Abdirahman Sheikh Siciid Maydh , a large coastal district that borders all the way near Las Qoray at Waqderiya. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pF7ZkC2vbNA Dararweyne district of central and south Sanaag mayor is Cige Xusseen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SmHrgIlsyU
10. Ceerigaabo has been under SNM since 1989. It belongs to those who liberated it from the clutches of dictator Siad Bare.Other groups are not entirely innocent since they attempted to displace the dominate group there historically (the big beards) with the help of Siad Bare but it backfired. Nevertheless the Sanaag communities are in good terms today specially the big beard community and the Badhan community, they are not known to hold grudges.
11. Actually it was nearly 4 years ago(since the 2012 local election fiasco), I gave the gov the benefit of the doubt in 2010 and 2011, unfortunately it is not the right gov for Somaliland as many people realized. I don't support something that isn't in the wider interest of Somaliland. I did not side entirely with southerners in this issue, I said things should be prioritized first such as the illegal Ethiopian immigrants to be deported who beg in the streets of Hargeisa and are a eye sore to the city. Working southerners should just pay the $15 fee, its not a lot compared to what is taken from people with Western passports when they enter Sland ($60).
12. After the 2014 incident where they were kicked out with the barrel of the gun. Reer Awdal should take some notes. No oil foreign company can work in our areas without contributing to our lands. 13. xabad They are playing dirty politics on poor families lives, its not something new.
14. @Che -Guevara said: Aight, who advises Siiraanyo on these matters? And isn't Erigavo losing population? Why expel people that are obviously keeping it alive and contributing to its vitality? Properly his wife Amina Jirde. Its just few hundreds anyway not thousands other than the cheap goods they use to offer in the shops it won't have much effect on Erigavo.
15. I think this is unnecessary, most of those people worked in shops and did not leech off the inhabitants to begin with. The failed government of Silanyo should worry about Oromos cannibalizing young children and spreading diseases instead. Dadka Koonfur Somalia Oo Ka Cabanaya Muddada Somaliland Uqabtay Inay ka baxaan Somaliland
16. I guess no more cheating, since it is harder to register twice with the new biometric voter registration system that Somaliland is currently using. Over 107,000 people registered to vote in a week and most of those happened to be from Western Togdheer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkhZLwnoy38
17. 25 people dead AUN. Yes I agree Hassan Sheikh has failed in security, under his reign hundreds of Mogadishu residents have been slaughtered if not thousands.

22. I am realistic, Somaliland still has long way to evolve. In a ideal democracy Jamal would have properly won. Somalilanders unlike southerners don't deny there is problems, that is the difference between the two sides.
23. A Jamal Ali Hussien presidency would have been a breath of fresh air for Somaliland. He was a very accomplished millionaire before he even came to Somaliland and was the CEO of Citi Bank Tanzania. Unfortunately though it is about voting numbers and Jamal lacks that, WADANI party due to its landheer status is the closest to defeat the Kulmiye regime. My advice for the opposition would be to strengthen the party with the biggest support base, that way they can put Silanyo and his party in the trash for good.
24. The head of this party is there to encourage party supporters to register for the upcoming elections. Thousands will cross the border from Gashaamo into Togdheer & Oodweyne regions to register.
25. They are just looking for few brownie points and votes since Kulmiye became very unpopular. Xukuumada Somaliland Oo sheegtay inay dhisayso dekada Maydh
