I don' t represent the Sayidists point of view and it is clear from my post. But we represent the opinions of the author? Where the hell is that fat lady yaa naas? Naga daaya dee.
  2. ^^ It's a stage-play, ayeeyo where A&T has cast himself in the role of the Sayid and you and I are the "reer hebel" that are fighting back. If he be false, O! then heaven mocks itself. I'll not believe't.
  3. ^^ But are you certain that these side meetings were about dangling the PM seat in the clans' faces or was it one of reassuring them of the president's impartiality? Like I say, the process for choosing the MPs emboldened the sub-clans to view themselves as separate entities from the actual blocks that make up the 4.5 forumula. If the president spent some time placating all the self important sub-clans BEFORE choosing his MP, I see no harm in the attempt. By all means, sharpen your knife saaxib but give the man a couple more weeks of leeway before you decide to stick it in.
  4. oba hiloowlow;873464 wrote: good article Abtigiis it raised some good points, i agree on this one, the president should've handled it in a more proffesional way It can be argued that the President has taken time (a) to consult various clans so that they feel consulted and therefore respected (b) to ensure he gets the right person, because the President will not be able to sack the PM once he nominates. The first reason is acceptable but, by now, it is a common knowledge that the PM would be selected from the ***** clan, because of the 4.5 formula. It would have been better to ask the whole ***** block to send one delegation for consultations, instead of creating unnecessarily rivalry and competition by receiving different sub-clans separately. But wasn't that the same exact way Somalis chose their MPs?
  5. A&T, the more books the better. As for being pretty, it's all in the eye of the beholder and all that.
  6. Yunis;873439 wrote: ^^indeed. NGONGE I'll let this news speak for it self, rather than refuting all your previous potshots at him What you call "potshots" were genuine questions, saaxib. Let us see how he goes this time.
  7. ^^ Which brings us back to my original question; have you read the book and saw what conclusions the man drew? As for those that read the book, one would hope that they would have less prejudice than you and (at least) try to view it with an open mind (as with any similar book). Sheeko maqaaxida ka bax ninyaho (Kenya has been bad to you).
  8. It looks like he finally got one. Got the PM job twice!
  9. ^^ This would apply to your take on things as much as that of this book's author. In other words, waxa ii maad sheegin.
  10. ^^ If it takes you twenty minutes to confirm news, why not spend an hour and get the news before A&T anyway?
  11. Abtigiis;873409 wrote: I don't have to read it. I know what the clan says about the sayid and the "facts" they use as evidence. But are you disputing it is a reer-hebel fight back?? It's a BOOK not Mooge's maqaaxi chats, saaxib. As such, and regardless of the critic's own preconceptions, it has to be reviewed according to the normal literary rules. Funnily enough, this is more or less your complaint against the author himself. I've already said it on the other thread (the one before the one comparing the Sayid to the prophet); your concern here should be about the content of the book itself and the conclusions of the author. In fact, do we even know what he decided in the end? Is the Sayid a sheikh..err..mise? Trying to judge historical personalities is never about "right" or "wrong". It is all about the arguments of the historians and the facts available to them. For example, can those accusing the Sayid of not being a Somali hero present enough evidence that would overwhelm all the things that made people consider him a hero? Can the opposite be true? Such books, whilst not a "breakthrough" as you say, do help take us towards the ultimate "truth" about the man. p.s. reer hebel did not write the book, a man wrote.
  12. Just a wall with pictures on it? AA is losing his touch there (or giving this new president far too much respect). Going by what some of the Gedo boys were saying and the claim that the president is "interviewing" prospective candidates for the PM position, I was expecting AA to at least draw us a picture of an "X Factor" scene with the speaker of parliment sitting to the left fo the president and Mahiga to his right as they grill a tutu-clad Farmaajo on stage.
  13. All that and you didn't even read the book! I wonder what you would write had you read it.

Alhamdulilah the day went off with glitch, waxwalba was planned to perfection, we ate, danced, laughed and shared the happy day with our lovely lady. ps: we as of Lily, Blessed, Val and myself Adigu qac baad tahay dee. I remember the day I found out you were married. I paid you an innocent compliment (li wajhi allah bay aheed) and you slapped me back with the news that you were married. p.s. I totally resent the fact that "the recently arrived" Blessed got to eat the barees and I didn't. Ileen Serenity is as bad as Val.

You even managed to turn Duke against it and he is now having doubts after 36 thousand posts. Duke would never go against PL, saaxib. It's only when he stops to take a deep breath that people get confused and think he's criticising the blessed land.
  16. ^^ Atheists waa uuf. But our original atheist is praying for the happiness of people he likes. The End.
  17. ^^ I'd get in trouble hadaan gaabiyo, saaxib. Val markeeda sadix page baan o qoray.
  18. Most followers of SOL know that Johnny B is a confirmed atheist who would only speak about religion from a philosophical viewpoint and would always question the importance of faith. However, it may surprise you to find that even regular atheists do succumb to boots of wild sentiment from time to time. Our story begins over a decade and a half ago when our lovable Johnny was a young lad full of testosterone and habitually chasing any passing skirt. Back then, he had the looks, the intelligence and the culture to woo any lady that happened to cross his path. But let us not dwell on what he did out in the real world and rather concern ourselves with his online pursuits instead. You see, in the mid 90s, our Johnny was quite famous in many of the (now old) chat platforms. Many of those that know him intimately remember all his old online handles and can share lots of mythical stories about the man he was back then. I only shy from sharing any such stories for fear of awaking any jilted lovers, cheated damsels or long forgotten foes. However, this is not why Johnny took up prayer in the last couple of days (though it is the origin of the events that eventually led to it). It was around that time that a teenage Somali girl living in a remote part of the Middle East was first introduced to the internet. She was still at school and was no older than fourteen years of age when she happened to come across the famous chat platform by the name of MIRC. The people she met there were all much older than her (at least that’s how it seemed in her barely out of adolescence eyes). Our Johnny spotted her before anyone else and, typically of course, went on to unleash his full repertoire of chat up lines, charming compliments and quirky anecdotes in order to win her favour (and heart). Alas, he soon found out about her age and was forced to cease and detest. Now, many Somalis view atheists as the worst kind of humans possible and associate all kinds of wickedness to them. In fact, many would wonder why such an atheist would feel it is not right to abuse a fourteen year old! For the argument goes “he doesn’t believe in god, why should he believe in anything else, including morals, decency or right”. Fortunately (or unfortunately, whichever the case maybe), Johnny proved to be the exception to these rules. Mr Bravo is a gentleman and has always been one. On seeing this child enter the crazy world of Somali online chat, he took it upon himself to educate her and take her under his wing (and what a great job he did). Later, both older and wiser, they found their way into SOL! Here, Johnny carried on with his habit of wooing the ladies and paid no attention to the young damsel, save to advise her here and there whenever the opportunity arose. Alas, time waits for no man as they say and, the passing of time, helped turn the young girl into a blossoming little beauty that even Uncle Johnny himself couldn’t resist throwing one or two of his usual love grenades her way. She rebuffed them all politely and treated him as the big brother that she always considered him to be. He got the hint and restored her back to her rightful place as his charge and virtual goddaughter. A few months back, I got news that the young girl is intending to get married. Apart from feeling happy and elated that our little girl is about to finally cross the final threshold of adulthood, I did spare a quick thought to Johnny and his feelings when he hears this great news. Furthermore, when I say “our little girl”, I speak for most SOL regulars who had any interactions with this young lady and, like me, are certain to feel the fatherly pride that one (surely) gets when yet another youngster flies the nest. Val’s former bosom buddy is getting married, people (some FB sources claim the deed has already taken place but I refuse to accept that I was not invited to eat the barees). She’s ditching the “Ms” and taking up the “Mrs”. A very lucky and extremely clever man finally found the combination to unlock that flighty heart of hers. Better still, unlike myself, Xiin or A&T who always courted her and did our best to convince her that being a second wife was no bad thing, this young ( and very lucky) rascal is having her as his first, one and only wife! Now you may be wondering why is it that I think Johnny would ever utter a prayer of thanks to the almighty! Well, if callous old me can get all teary eyed and sentimental about this marriage, it is not much of a great leap for Johnny to pray a couple of rakca’s of thanks. After all, it’s not every day that his little Serenity gets married. So, to the prettiest and cleverest four foot, two inch tall (she insists on the mention of those two inches) girl I ever met, I send my sincerest congratulations. May Allah bless you both and make it the best of marriages. May Mr lucky never forget how fortunate he is and may he treat you like the queen you‘ve always been. May Allah bless this new family of yours and pave your future path with happiness, bliss and contentment.

  21. Taleexi;872847 wrote: Another book to be launched tomorrow in North America. And its title is Siilaanyo ma mujaahid baa mise ..... Someone should write that book (and the one A&T is talking about too). As for the topic here, I actually applaud the man for writing such a book and starting a historical debate here. From the little information someone posted in here, it seems that the author is basing his conclusions on the disparging poems of the Sayid and some of his faults. Of course, one must critique the book along two lines; one: are the poems authentic and are the accusations real? Two: when the sum total of the Sayid's actions & history are put in a scale of "good" and "bad", which of the two weighs the most?
