  1. We don't want them to. They need to mature, so probably by 27 they will be ready.
  2. Looking at his face though, you wonder how the hell he managed to get THREE women to sleep with him!

    vasectomy!

Anyways if what your uncle did is vasectomy like Rudy mentioned then I think not only is it haram but I see no logic of him getting it at age 54.Even if he can get it up at this age it only stays up for a few nano seconds therefore making the whole episode either embarrassing or meaningless. 54 is a fairly young age for a man, sxb. Guys who are 54 are as fit as you and me and can last as long (if not more) as any of us. He’s not 80 you know. Some suffer from impotence but clearly this guy’s uncle doesn’t. Heh. As for vasectomies, I think they rock! The more Somali men put out of action the bettter! Erm, a vasectomy is not going to put these guys out of action, it will probably give them a chance for MORE action. Everything functions ok when you have a vasectomy, the only thing it does is stop the little soldiers from swimming “upstream”. It’s a silly thing to do though.

  9. Does anyone know of any African female superheroes?!? Wonder Xalimo! She’s an African super heroine. She can cook, wash the dishes and talk on the phone all at the same time. She’s powerful and very strong. She wears a Dirac and goes out to weddings in the middle of winter when women of other nationalities shiver while wearing coats. She invests all her money in dozens of hagbado and still has enough money left to feed herself. She’s a superwoman our Xalimo. She can wash a greasy digsi in seconds yet still have lovely shiny hands and nails. She can kill a Farax with a word and take him above the clouds with another. She makes a malkhamad look great with jeans and tube tops; she can make an old man feel young and a young man feel old. But her real claim to being a super heroine is her ability to withstand all those chemical attacks. If Superman can’t cope wit kryptonite our SuperXalimo takes Diana in her stride.
  10. I don’t know how freedom and democracy relates to this homosexuality issue! Surely if the state outlaws something then it’s outlawed; the freedom part does not come into it anymore. If a child abuser attempts to use his “freedom of speech” to tell everyone that child abuse is ok, he’ll be ignored by all and his comments will only create disgust and anger. He would still have the freedom to express those views but not the freedom to change things. Anyway, for us, democracy has never been the answer. What will only apply to our Islamic ways is a benevolent dictatorship.
  11. Don’t let anyone tell you that us Somalis don’t “invent” things. At least in the UK, we’re the pioneers of Biological GBH! From the BBC site: A man jailed for eight years for inflicting "biological" grievous bodily harm by infecting two lovers with HIV has won the right to a retrial. The Court of Appeal in London quashed Mohammed Dica's convictions, but refused to release him on bail pending retrial in about six weeks. Mr Dica, from Mitcham, south-west London, was convicted at Inner London Crown Court on 14 October. He was found guilty under section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act. The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Woolf, sitting with Lord Justice Judge and Mr Justice Forbes, ruled on Wednesday that the judge at Dica's trial should not have withdrawn from the jury the issue of whether the women consented to intercourse, knowing Dica was HIV positive. Judge Philpot had held that consent was irrelevant and provided no defence because, under legal precedent, the women had "no legal capacity to consent to such serious harm". Mr Dica was the first person in 137 years to be convicted in England and Wales for sexually transmitting a disease.
  12. lol@ANDALEE ANDALEE ARIIBA ARIIBA HA Long live Speedy Gonzalez, the fastest mouse in all Mexico.
  13. The language is Latin. The passage is usually used in typing and word processing documents. Some of those passages are by the great Roman orator Marcus Tullius Cicero. Vini Vidi Vici(I came, I saw, I conquered). Before you ask, I've seen this stuff before that's why I know it
  14. Has anyone heard of the Prince who said "If they are protesting against lack of bread or cant afford it why dont they eat cakes". Marie Antoinette was supposed to have said this phrase; “Let them eat cake”.
  15. Phil? Australia? **Gets crystal ball out** **You live in a village, right?** **Waits for the penny to drop** **Wonders if he got it wrong** **Waits**
  16. An English pound is about 1.7/1.8 dollars these days. £25,000 is usually an annual salary. Although it would be a real nice job if they’re paying that much per month. From the job description though, I think it’s per year.
  17. Can’t join in this thread because although I watch lots of films, I can’t remember that many lines from any of them. Oh, oh, just got a wild thought cross my mind; Scarface dubbed in Somali! I think I’m going to spend the rest of the afternoon thinking of that now. Saaxiibkay yar si salama
  18. It’s probably nothing of the sort. Remember, this is an online forum and not some sort of test. Nobody is being marked on their grammar, spelling or choice and use of words. All that matters is the content and the ideas they put forward. It’s not a competition to find the biggest show-off, dear. Some people probably like to post their messages and not worry about the style they’re presented in, they might be in a bit of a hurry or they simply don’t care. As for using a dictionary, I think you’ll be better off using a thesaurus. As long as the posts are clear and convey points in a comprehensible manner, it does not matter how the posts are written.
  19. Wash your mouth with milix and vinegar, man. There is no comparison between the great Brittney and the useless J-Lo. I like my thoroughbred horses and Brittney is one. That Latin woman is nothing but a donkey with a big backside. I’m not the same age as Brittney(she’s a baby).
  20. Like the sister above said, divorce is something that happens in many societies. In ours however, it seems to happen more and more. There is no explaining why people don’t get along and choose to divorce. But, and this is where we differ from most people (IMHO); we seem to copy each other a lot in Somali society. When a guy opens a shop, ten guys open similar shops in the same street or two streets away from him. When a guy gets a job as a taxi driver, another fifty do the same. When a guy/girl does a degree in Business studies, a million others do that too (I’m aware of many others that don’t, so no protests please). Even in the way our houses are set up and decorated, you see mothers copying each other’s styles. Now, if we copy each other in everything, wouldn’t it follow that we would also copy each other in marriage and divorce? It’s standard practise not to get along with your ex-husband or wife in Somali society. Not because it’s right or wrong, but just because it’s “the done thing”. The other things about swearing in front of the children are the norm too (regardless of divorce). The brother above asked the original poster to forget about this and worry about teenagers joining gangs and getting killed! But, isn’t that also a result of divorces, badly functioning families and awful upbringing (in most cases, not isolated ones)? In many threads on this board, we see people wondering about family values, Somalis becoming westerners, Farax’s being rude, divorce and the phenomenon of single mothers! In most cases, everyone agrees that these things are wrong or sad. But what is the solution? Is it education? How would you educate that huge number of people in one go? What if they already know it’s wrong (which most do anyway)? Is it a matter of awareness then? How would you make people more aware? How would you instil long forgotten or ignored values in them? Would you ask every mother, father, teenage children, old men and women to come to SOL and read all these threads so they would remember their responsibilities? Would you go around Somali houses like a Jehovah’s Witness and try to “convert” them? Would you mention it to the Imams in the mosques and request that they dedicate the Friday sermons to these problems? We’re scattered all over the world but our problems are still the same. I apologise if my questions come across as patronising or simply far-fetched. I personally believe that the answer to many of our problems is wider awareness and discussion. Many of these problems are very simple problems that can be dealt with easily if given enough time and thought. How however could we have this awareness? How do we shape our culture so we can get rid of all these negative things while encouraging the positives to remain and attempting to enhance them? Again, I’m asking more questions! Bear with me for a minute and follow this vision I have; Lets assume we had a Somali satellite television station. One that aims to educate it’s people and air all their grievances. One that broadcasts hastily made soap operas that deal with all these little problems. One that gives the opportunity to young and old poets to recite their stuff that coin Somali predicaments in memorable ways. What we really need is some Positive Propaganda , man. I know most of what I said (and dreamed about above) will not solve all our problems but if it does nothing else, it will bring them to the fore and emphasise the urgency needed in dealing with them. I’m not talking about politics by the way.
  21. As the backup singers in Greece (the movie) say, tell me more, tell me more..
  22. Heh. This sounds like a letter written by one of those who write Nigerian fraud letters. Heh.
  23. Baashi, I’m not trying to absolve the West of any wrongdoing. Colonisation, the cold war, debt and Western agricultural policies have all contributed to the third world (and Africa) being the way it is. This information is nothing new though, we all knew about it for years. My argument is that in order to change the statues queue, we first need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and sort our own house before turning our attention to the West. There is no point in wallowing in self-pity and saying there is nothing we can do. Of course there are things we can do. We can eradicate corruption; we can work towards improving our societies and our moral fibres. We have to change this image of Africa (naturally, I’m more concerned with Africa than the rest of the third world). Once these problems are sorted then maybe we’ll have a better chance of forcing/convincing the West to change its policies towards Africa. By the way, dear old Tony Blair is promising to address the problems of Africa in his role as the president of the G8. If all his other projects are anything to go by then I’m not really holding much hope for success here too. It’s going to be more aid for those “poor” and backward Africans, again. BTW, the whole idea of contraceptives is to prevent impregnation. FYI family planning has nothing to do with preventing HIV and STD. Don’t breed if you can’t feed them...in a nutshell that is what it preaches. We’ll have to disagree on this point.
  24. My loneliness is killin me (and I) I must confess I still believe (still believe) When I'm not with you I lose my mind give me a sign, hit me baby one more time! Sorry, it was a double post
  25. I,m just currious Ngonge so what's your age then? When you were born, I was already a mighty six years old. i conclude a question: why 78% ( according to UN) of somali people's birhtdays are Jan. 01? is Janaury the breathing time for Somalia? i am wondering I heard a theory about flight 13, apparently there was this old guy who assumed leadership in the flight and was telling everyone what to do! When the flight landed, he stood by the door and as people were getting of the plane, he was saying “ adigo waxad dhalatay 01/01/71, bax”, “ adigo waxad dhalatay 01/01/72, bax”, etc...
