Norf, he's two footed. Sayid, I presume nothing. I work on what I see, saaxib. The question 'WHY' is something little kids ask all the time. The answers to that question are sometimes easy and sometimes would drive someone as old as you MAD(and, lets face it, you used to walk fircoon to school). But the 'whys' never end. you know that as well as I do, it's just the word 'bigot' that seems to have got stuck in your throat. War tread carefully.
-
Sayid, you have to get into heavy conversations about these things, saaxib. There is always that dreaded question 'WHY?'. What will you say?
-
^^ Cajuuz is what a woman is called. Orod afkaaga baro, adeer (I don't recognise your name). Never Sayid. They understand small differences but never have the full picture (just like a bigot). My five year old already knows this is a 'gaalo' custom. But he's taking part in it (now) because of the camels. Anymore details than that and I'll just confuse him about Jesus, Mary and the two faiths.
-
Heh@Johnny..you think he thought of the camel idea all by himself?
-
^^ Ada ku so celiyay dee. Ma mar sadixaad ban ku celiya? (I stand by that statement. A five year old that pretends to understand the difference between gaalo and muslim is nothing but a tiny bigot, saaxib).

The camel is the most important thing in the story, Lily. He went to school today and, as he was lining up with all the children to go to their class, he called out to his teacher and said 'my grandfather owns fifty camels. I have a picture of me on a camel. The camel is the best thing in the play. Better than the wise men'. His teacher was impressed with the part about riding a camel. (five year olds know nothing about Islam and there is no point in turning them into bigots before their time).
-
^^ I was going to refuse. But when my son told me he was playing the part of the Camel, I beamed with pride.

Has any of you ever taken part in a Nativity Play in your school days? I can't say I have. Arab schools only do 'the lifes and times of Abu Lahab'.

^^ Ma markab oo koro ayuu meesha ka waayay? Red Sea, caruurto hada waa imisa?

Is this still going?

A newspaper advert saying: "Dr Jalal Zaki, we thank you for your great care in making the operation a success. From the family of the deceased". "Kindly do not remove the wheelie bin and subject yourself to a beating".

The sign says: "This is Shacban, the one who sells fish that you heard about"

As long as there is peace the state is going to benefit, saaxib. Don't be a badow and start looking after yourself.
-
^^ Did you buy shares in Africa Oil like I advised you though? It's the only way you (personally) is going to profit from this, saaxib. Hurry and do it (if you didn't yet).

Such demos are not likely to make a difference (not yet). At any rate, my dismissive reply was not related to the demonstrators themselves (I don't doubt their anger or sincerity). It was directed at the author of the thread and the weak message he was trying to relay.

Yet another invitation to wail? Someone was calling it a black day for Somalia the other day and now you're calling it 9/11? If you were an Iraqi I dare say you would have killed yourself at today's news.

Originally posted by Abtigiis & Tolka: No, saaxib. It is you who is giving new meanings to what some words mean. The Ambassador didn't say he visited a country. Oh you're playing 'thick' again? How cute! No, he did not say 'it'. In the same way that he did not recognise SL. But, you know and I know this was not the point here. What's with the teasing, saaxib?

^^Picking at straws again, saaxib? Semantics is all that you're left with, eh!

Originally posted by Xaji_Xunjuf: ....In fact, Egypt has successfully lobbied against Somaliland recognition. Also, Egypt wants to get rid of the current Somali president Sheikh Shariif because through the eyes of Cairo, he is not strong enough to wreck havoc in Ethiopia and force Somaliland to unit with Somalia. Egypt wants to use united Somalia as a bulwark against Ethiopia if Nile River crises between Egypt and Ethiopia flare up. Nobody can force anybody to do anything, saaxib. They have been trying for twenty years and never managed it. Now, despite what Xiin and all these others say, the fact remains that the Egyptian Safeer has visited Somaliland. That he played it all diplomatic later and talked about the unity of Somalia is neither here nor there. The man (and country) had to swallow his pride and go visit a country he (supposedly) does not recognise! It seems that whilst SL still has its L-plates on, many people clearly feel it's a very competent driver. The naysayers will carry on clutching at straws but this has been, is, and remains a triumph for Somaliland. However, realistically speaking, Somaliland's full recognition is still in the balance and it would take a set of favourable circumstances for it to eventually receive international recognition. Having said that, the fact that official Ambassadors of sovereign nations, representatives of regional bodies and those of the UN have seen no problem with visiting that State (especially when you consider the complex world of political etiquette) leads one to think that these favourable circumstances are nicely stacking up. If you're an opponent of Somaliland's sovereignty you should not be dismissive, friends. You should be worried.

Stuff and nonsense.

^^ I thought that was very restrained with no mention of the events themselves, saaxib. But if I were to lampoon the actual day and what happened there, I might shock you by pointing to the abundance of material found there. I mean, come on.... A man dressed up as a woman! Minsters present! Graduates of MEDICINE! Each one of these alone is enough to make you laugh with disgust without having to write a long essay about it. Fix up.

Sayid, I don't only hail from Jamac Qabar, saaxib. There is another toolo even closer to heart than that one. Along with JQ, we refer to them as the Twin Toolos. Adigu haday Qardho gubato xagaad tagi? (I'm getting images of some shabby London Council).

^^ I stand corrected.
