  1. At this point, the SOL tradition is for someone to start a thread about the new president of Jubbaland telling us about his history, education and how many wives he's married to.
  2. ^^ The ban is on UN planes flying from and landing in H town. The rest (whatever that is) comes in July.
  3. ^^ Maxa kaa galay, you're a Jubbalander now.
  4. ^^ And you know he won't fight either. He'll claim it's a gang that beat up his parents and raped his spouse. What could one man/woman do against a gang?
  5. Looks like the committee will visit the place and return back with a suggestion that Axmad Madoobe should be given the job of presidnet.
  6. ^^ He said he didn't like him (I assume politically) but that he was a noble man who knew how to talk. This gives me an idea that I think only Xaaji X can help me with. I suggest that the infamous Xaaji start a thread with the craziest quotes from Somali politicians/Warlords in the past twenty two years. Of course, I expect Mr Waraabe to feature prominently in most of them. Heh.
  7. ^^ The only time he crossed the line was right at the end of the interview, Stoic. But even that was not really a slip of the tongue or the usual gaff-prone Waraabe not being in control of his tongue, saaxib. You have to remember that all these interviews came from the publicity of one picture. Where people were talking about him "doing-a-Fowziya", they are now, as a result of this interview, calling him a bigoted and clannish man.
  8. ^^ Dee duraygan xun. In other (but related news), I was explaining "xasad" and the "evil eye" to my daughter the other day and at the end I asked her to look at my face and tell me if she thinks I've been "cursed". She pulled a face and said "no, I don't think so. You're just old".
  9. ^^ Waxa la yedhi: NGONGOW Waa lagu cawriyay. Ma run ba?
  10. After an absence of more than 30 years, Abdirizak Omar Mohamed has returned to Somalia, the country of his birth. Last year he gave up his job as a civil servant in the housing sector in Canada to take up a position as one of only 10 ministers in Mogadishu’s new, slimline cabinet. Sounds like he's the right man for such a messy job!
  11. ^^ In the same way the Somalis collaborated with Ethiopia (or Kenya today)? The Arabs would have fought the Ottomans (and did) regardless of the Brits or the French, saaxib.
  12. ^^ Again, that option too is temporary. War there is no cure for a cold. It comes, you rough it up for a few days and then it goes (until the next time). I need to think of a way to stop it before it starts. Heh.
  13. ^^ I HAVE tried it. It works on the day but not the following one (not unless the cold was on its way out anyway).
  14. ^^ A run clears things for a few hours, badowyaho. Once you go to sleep, it all starts again in the next morning.
  15. ^^ I thought you were giving me something to stop it from coming back. A cold normally goes away within three days, run or no run. Bax warya.
  16. Heh@man up...I don't turn it on and off on purpose you know. (It's not too good. It's still messing me up).
  17. First in, first in, AGAIN. Morning all.
  18. Not sure what the complaints are all about. This was a very good interview and Faisal dealt with it beautifully.
  19. ^^ Everybody fought in their own corner around more or less the same time (and everybody eventually lost against the main world powers). As for Palestine, the Arabs fought for it in 1948, 1967 and 1973. It's only because the rest of the world helped the yehood out that the place was lost.
  20. ^^ 40? That's the exact number of mentally disturbed people that are reported to have run away from a mental hospital in Nairobi (I read it somewhere this morning). :D

  22. Warya Oba, dee give a link or something so that I can join in the conversation.
  23. ^^ War don't turn on "your people" dee. You need someone to fight your corner when the inevitable ban comes.
