  5. SOMALI CULTURE AND POLITICS ARE ORGANIZED around the country's seven clans, each of which traces its heritage to a different ancestor. These clans are then divisible into subclans, smaller family groups called lineages, and diyah groups. Xeer justice generally revolves around these latter groups, which can number anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand people and are formed when there are enough men of sufficient wealth in a lineage to constitute their own group—a process called, literally, "counting testicles." Each member is responsible for the crimes committed by anyone else from his diyah group. If someone in a group commits an offense, the whole group must pool its resources and contribute toward a payment (camels, other livestock, or money) to the victim's diyah group, with elders setting the amount of compensation using xeer. Source Saaxiib Che, Ninkii maanta qaaraanka diida, tomorrow dib markee hesho ayaa lagaaga bixi doona ee...marka saaxiib pay the small amount of dollars oo lagu weydiistay. Ina-Adeer LIQAYE, Whats wrong with people being "aided" to re-unite, albeit for a fee, with loved ones on the other side of the sea? Funny, how you give this issue a negative Connotation by calling it "human trafficking". Puntland officials should butt out of such matters and desist from placing restrictions on the freedom of movement for people seeking to escape poverty and war. This will only attract criminal elements to engage in people smuggling, forcing their clients to risk travelling illegally in precarious ships to reach the shores of Arabia on the other side. The Puntland administration should not cater to the racist prejudices nurtured by the Arab leaders in the middle east. My opposition to placing restrictions on immigration to the middle east is based on the recognition that immigration from the horn of Africa is a natural phenomenon produced by conflict, droughts and unemployment. Forcing escape out of misery of thousands, at risk of their own survival. Is this just? Certainly not. Those selfish arabs should learn to live with it, and stop exploiting individuals solely out of the so-called "illegal" status. Puntland also has better things to do with funds used to fight immigration. dhulQarnayn, Republic Of California.
  7. Sunaari, nimanka ma macuun qalalan baa lagu soo dhaweeyey, miyaa? Bariiskii meeyey? Mise caraptaan kilyaha waaweenka leh ma lagu caateenayaa meesha?
  8. Abaayo Sunaari, A "clean campaign" in Puntland is quite oxymoronic to say the least. Meeshaan, it's all about who can grease up the parliamentarians most lavishly. Parliamentarians, who're very capable of betraying their honor and duty to their people for a price. Marka odaygaan,Ilka-Jiir, haduuna wadan $Fuluus$ badan, yuuna wakhtiga na dhuminin. Waryaaya reer Puntland: waxaa fiicnaan leheed ina general-ka loo qaaraamo oo lacag loo aruuriyo. Its either that, or Mr Incompetence himself-Cade Muse- come election time, will buy these unprincipled monkeys in parliament, AGAIN. Sad as it may sound...It's very feasible for him to return.

Or more recently Hamid Karzai? But, indeed, when it comes Jilibkee xoog-badan politics, I know I won't be able to challenge you. You are an expert as exemplified by your apparent mistaking of Yey's vitriol against 'reerihii xamar bililiqaystay' as a political witticism! Is that what you call not taking shit from anyone? Adeer, by trying to paint a monster as a man of substance, you forfeited your legitimacy to get engaged with real debate. When you get out of your tribal nest, I will be more than willing to try to reason with you, even from apparent 'underdog' position you have condemned me to be. When you judge yourself to be the maestro singlehandedly,I feel it is quite showing. Feeling big often is the result of being small- actually. I reckon my bedside stories deserve better attention than a frivoulus glorification of a traitor. I would have also loved to see one story of yours. Never mind the bed, just somewhere! Abtigiis &Tolka, War ninyahow shaqala'aan kuhaysa badanaa! I must say though, that I, throughly enjoyed your artistically arranged alphabet soup excuse of a rebuttal.Tsk-tsk! Why do you think he is to be supported and not deposed and tried ? jamaal7777, The asnwers to your question..."Why do you think he is to be supported and not deposed and tried?", are as follows: Support him?... Because he lawfully holds the office of president.PERIOD! Depose him?... Only through a free and fair election.PERIOD! Face trail?... Only after he leaves office.PERIOD! Am sure he will be vindicated. jamaal7777, I have never said he was blameless. He has had many difficult situations to deal with from the get go. And Yes, he hasn't made choices I would have made- but then again, am not in his shoes and don't have Yassar-Arafat-head-gear-wearing-deviants for an opposition, do I?. To top that off; too many people here are too quick to undermine his authority solely out of clan animosity and squawk after him aimless- blinded by tribal hate. Ilaahay, baan ka magan galnay wixii 'hater' oo dhan ah! p.s where on earth are the people at? The cities look deserted...I noticed most of the businesses where closed when the pictures were taken.
  17. ^^^ Geel_Jire, what a useless rant of deviant gibberish. Cabdulahi Yuusuf, whether one happens to agree with him or not, managed to run for and win the office of president. Given the available choices back then, AY seemed to have had the least offensive track-record compared to the other warlords and offerered a 'somewhat' genuine opportunity for Somalia to return from the abyss. He has served as the chief architect of a plan that produced the only viable government we've had, since the collapse of the national government of Somalia: much to the surprise of just about everyone except Mr. Yuusuf. Geel_Jire, hate it or love it- Mr Yuusuf is the current interim President of Somalia, you on the other hand, sir, are an anonymous poster on a third-tier message board <--No offense SOL! Saaxiib, your incessant personal diatribes and lack of civility will not turn your OPINIONS into fact. Walahi,I don't know what is sadder- the amount of time you spend on here or the blindness to your own ignorance. The ignorance that makes you believe that antipathy is some sort of virtue  - ninyahow, orod oo shaqo yeelo! dhulQarnayn, Republic Of California. p.s Damn these haters! clearly General Duke isn't doing a great job. The TFG needs some more positive propaganda to offset the numerous public relations problems it faces from these enthusiastic deviant supporters .

Hassan6734, I am trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but hackneyed and often predictable remarks like the ones above make it very difficult for me to believe that you are really interested in having an honest discussion. If you truly seek a formal discourse on El Presidente Yuusuf, it would help if you stop making blanket statements that have no basis in fact. dhulQarnayn, Republic Of California.
  21. I'm still unsure as to what the Russians' war aims are. They say it's to protect the ones they've given Russian citizenship in South Ossetia and Abchazia. On the other hand, the Russian government didn't really seem to care about the Russian citizenship of the Muslim Chechens in Grozny. It maybe that they want to achieve a sneaky annexation of those two provinces combined with a defeat of the Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili. Perhaps it's also to thwart Georgian prospective membership of NATO and EU. Which is, of course, linked to Western energy security interests. Getting those Central Asian energy resources to market bypassing Russian or Iranian influence is becoming really tricky for America. And I don't believe the US has the diplomatic clout anymore to rein in Moscow's ambitions. Putin has succeeded in making Russia, an assertive petrostate. I don't know what leverage the US can use now with its economy in the shitter and majority of its troops bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan. Poor Georgians will be left to fend for themselves.
