  4. Litvinenko Converted to Islam at Deathbed Alexander Litvinenko requested to be buried according to Muslim tradition after converting to Islam on his deathbed, his father said. Alexander Litvinenko, the former Russian KGB agent murdered by radioactive poisoning in London, requested to be buried according to Muslim tradition after converting to Islam on his deathbed, according to the Times Online. Walter Litvinenko, Alexander's father, said in a reported interview published today in the Times Online that his son, an Orthodox Christian, made it his last wish as he lay dying in the hospital. "He said ’I want to be buried according to Muslim tradition’," Walter Litvinenko told Moscow's Kommersant daily, as quoted by Times Online. “He said I want to be buried according to Islamic tradition. I said okay son. It will be as you wish. We already have one Muslim in our family. The important thing is to believe in the Almighty. God is one,” Mr. Litvinenko, adding that he also believed that Russian President Vladimir Putin was involved in the death of his son. He also rejected claims that former Russian agents may have been responsible for Litvinenko's death. "There was an order right from the top to kill my son," Walter Litvinenko said. "I am in no doubt that this was done by members of the Russian secret services, with the permission of Vladimir Putin." The grieving father added that he would return to Russia after burying his son, although he considered that returning was not without danger, Mosnews reported. In a statement read out after his death, Alexander Litvinenko accused the Russian president of what would be the Kremlin's first political assassination in the West since the Cold War. "You may succeed in silencing one man. But a howl of protest from around the world will reverberate, Mr Putin, in your ears for the rest of your life," he said. But some suggested the death was part of a plot to discredit the Kremlin. Russian authorities have denied any involvement in this case.

  6. Ramadan Kareem to u all, I been away and ic that I missed a great debate to the recent changes in kismayo. Off the topic: I just met a friend of mine who in fact has family living there and been in touch b4 and after the court takeover and i was surprised what he told me. throughout Bare Hirale's, many of his clansmen moved into the city and force their way and occupy houses which belong to others who been there god know when so his family were finally able to get their houses back according to him thanks to the courts who indeed told everyone to leave alone for whatever you have if it doesn't belong to u. He also told me that they let a true Kismayu ppl run the Port and other positions in Kismayu. Though i was bit worry that courts may be challenged in coming to kismay but if what i was told is true, i think they deserve huge credit for getting rid of Bare and giving ppl back their property. I wished they could've done the same for those in Marka and Barawe area. Ramdan Kareeeeeeeeem

  10. Do you guys still expect actions from Arabs?? kamoon ppl, rag ladhabo ayaad ka warsugaysaan. I just recently visited the Gulf particularly UAE, Qatar, I swear it feels more like North America and even way more westernized and wild. They even legalized prostitution etc so what else do you expect. A Sheikh on our Friday prayer mentioned why Muslims mainly Arabs aren't doing or saying anything in regard to recent Israel's actions etc and he said when Muslims abscond the Caqiida and Islamic knowledge, that's what happens no feelings whatsoever
  11. Brother Uthman, I think you get my drift and just so you know, there's something you can do in helping Somalis than Palestine. Our brothers in Palestine do need all the help they can from Muslim world and of course Allah SWT. My point is Palestinian issues are more complex in comparison to us. Ours is basicallyl silly and nonsense bro which we, Somalis, can do something.
  12. I hope they didn't teach them the corruption shidh. If so, they'll be collecting empty pockets with cockroaches. On serious note: it is good to see such positive news on that region.

  19. This has got to be most interesting good yet bad news ever. LOL Somalia Defeats Rwanda To Win Third-World Cup June 29, 2006 | Onion Sports KHARTOUM, SUDAN—The host city of the 2006 Developing Nations Football Championship erupted in cheers that nearly drowned out the cries of the starving and wounded Tuesday when the underdog Somali side, playing four down due to injuries and landmines, outlasted the more experienced if disease-ridden Rwandans 1-0 to win the inaugural Third-World Cup. Enlarge ImageSudan, Somalia "This is a relatively great day for Somalia," said team captain Omar Bin-Shakur, the seasoned veteran whose rise from squalor in the violent ghettoes of Mogadishu to stardom in the squalid and violent ghettoes of the Sudan is already passing into legend. "It seemed like nothing could stop us in the title match—not the great Rwandan defender Bimenyimana, not the mortar strikes, not the rotting cow in midfield, not dysentery…nothing." "They were simply the better team today," Rwandan star Calvin Bimenyimana said, speaking to reporters as the soccer stadium was transformed from a football pitch back to its usual function as an outdoor prison for Darfur refugees awaiting execution. "Yet I am extremely proud of my mates. They did well just to get here, especially after the Sierra Leone match in which Nicodemus was red-carded and shot, and our epic battle with Chad, in which they came at us with rocket-propelled grenades when our team bus attempted to cross the border into the Sudan." Bimenyimana, whose youth coaches in Rwanda considered him a natural for the sport after his hands were chopped off with machetes in 1994, was chosen as the Nestlé Man Of The Match by fans, the first-ever Third-World Cup participant from the losing side to be chosen. However, some aficionados say that Bimenyimana played a lackluster game; at press time, FIFA-3 officials were investigating reports that armed gunmen had shot and killed hundreds at designated Nestlé Man Of The Match voting stations. Somalia was only a fifth seed entering the Cup tournament, and while the Third-World Cup rankings are considered notoriously inaccurate, the nation's weak midfield, inexperienced goalkeeper, and devastatingly low rates of economic growth and standards of press freedom seemed to indicate that they would be eliminated in the early rounds. "Certainly it did not look good for us going in to be placed with Afghanistan, host team Sudan, and the [Democratic Republic Of The] Congo," said Somali coach Abdi Qani. "But every other team was at the mercy of the same sporting and economic factors. In the Third-World Cup, every group is the Group Of Death." After only surviving the first round due to inspired play, UN-supplied antibiotics, and a forfeit during the Sudan game when four Sudanese players seized control of their team and shot eight others during penalty time, Somalia assumed the unexpected status of the tournament's Team Of Destiny. "Never have the words 'win or go home' provided such inspiration to any team," Bin-Shakur said. "I am overcome with joy, as well as hunger, and I look forward to bringing the Third-World Cup trophy home to my country." The Third-World Cup trophy, an AK-47 coated with gold spray-paint and mounted on a pallet of United Nations staple foods, has already been seized by Somali troops and distributed amongst ranking military officers.
