  1. Jailed Somali asylum seeker tries to kill himself A Somali asylum seeker who spent three years in an Israeli jail and the last several months being transported back and forth between Israel and Cyprus tried to take his own life at an Immigration Police detention facility over the weekend. The man, Faisal Madadal, slashed his wrists and was treated in hospital before being returned to Tzohar prison in the Negev. The Immigration Police say that Madadal suffered only minor injuries and is now under constant supervision at the detention facility. Madadal was due to be deported six days ago to Ethiopia, from where he was to be transported to his native area of Somaliland. Since it is not yet clear whether the Ethiopian authorities have agreed to allow Madadal to cross their territory, the United Nations High Commission for Refugees' (UNHCR) honorary representative in Israel, Michael Bavly, asked for the deportation to be delayed. The Immigration Police agreed, giving Bavly more time to find an alternative destination for Madadal. According to Bavly, he is trying to help Madadal as a humanitarian gesture, despite the fact that the Somali citizen is not recognized as a refugee since he does not meet the criteria set out by the Interior Ministry. Since Madadal entered Israel in 1999, Bavly has tried to obtain residency status for him in five different countries, to no avail. Madadal left Somalia after two of his brothers were murdered in rioting against his tribe. In January 1999, he arrived in Israel and was given a residency permit, but his request for recognition as a refugee was turned down. In 2002 his residency permit was revoked after he was arrested during a bar brawl. When it also became apparent that he was using a fake passport, the Immigration Police issued a deportation order against him. For almost three years, Madadal sat in various prisons across the country, partly because there was nowhere to deport him to and partly because the Shin Bet security service described him as a threat to national security, since Islamic fundamentalists are known to operate in Somalia. In February, Madadal's lawyer, Shamai Leibowitz, managed to obtain a Cypriot entry visa for his client. On arrival in Cyprus, Madadal asked for refugee status. Within two months, however, he was arrested, flung into prison for three months and, on the day before the Cypriot High Court was due to hold a hearing on his case, was deported back to Israel. Madadal arrived at Ben-Gurion airport with no identification papers and was summarily sent back to Cyprus. The next day, the Cypriot authorities put him on another plane for Israel. This time, he was arrested on arrival and has been behind bars for the last three months. Source
  2. The issue isn't simplistic. Some of those who have killed have legitimate reasons; like self-defense. If someone is forced to kill another one for a legitimate reason, he/she should leave the area, in order to avoid killing more. I know it's not easy leaving your own home, but this isn't a conflict between Muslims and non-Muslims. Until peace & calm is restored to your home, stay away from where it can lead you to kill a Muslim, even for legitimate reasons. There's another option: to unite under the banner of Islam in order to repel and defeat those behind the killings and chaos. That option would have long ago materialized, without outside interferences, the West being at the forefront.

They are usually careful not to come up with something like that, especially when it has something to do with Jews. I am sure they will provide an excuse.

A coincidence; I have also studied at the Italian Cultural center. I remember one of my teachers was named Osman (last name Maye?), the other who was Italian was named Paola (if memory serves me right). I also lived in Italy for a number of years. Visiting Italian news sites (like La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, etc) helps me keep somewhat sharp what I know about the Italian language (at least in terms of reading & writing).
  8. If you have translated the article; job well done. Learning about what has gone behind the scenes of this ugly affair is really shocking. It appears it is not simple as how I have imagined, but involves an intricate web of corrupt politicians, hungry businessmen, the mafia and other dark entities. I worry about the long term effects those wastes will have on Somalis and their environment for many generations to come. I am not aware of any Somali body/association/organization that's coordinating at least materials, documentations and etc that shed light on what has happened, what investigations are undergoing, what the people need to do about the waste, how they can safeguard themselves from possible future dumpings and etc. It doesn't take a lot of efforts/resources to setup a site/forum, form an association/organization that cares about this issue. I believe at least a dozen of young Somalis can take on the task.

Your very statement: It was like the embodiment of white supremacy and black inferiority.. Emphasis: white supremacy.

For the most part of the Islamic history, Muslims lived in such a world. The vast majority of Muslim people long for that world; what's holding them from it is their secular and Western-dependent leaders. This isn't something I just come up with; high ranking US intelligence officers/analysts affirm it.

No. You see, there are quite many Somalis who are good practicing Muslims, who without outside interferences, would have made Somalia an Islamic state ruled with Sharia'. Because the West and some African countries (chiefly Ethiopia) view Sharia' or Islamic system of governance as representing anathema and grave risk to its existence, it's not yet physically possible for Somalis to adopt it. Ethiopia come on the brink of being totally overrun by Ahmed Gurey and his fellow mujahidins. It was rescued by the Portuguese. Ethiopia can never forget that. Similarly, the West can never forget the conquests and jihads that led Muslims to conquer vast lands across 3 continents. The atmosphere and environment for which muslim lands are united under one amir isn't yet that ripe or mature, although one can sense the effects of the global Islamic insurgency. Eventually, Muslims will triumph and unite under one banner (khilafah), insh'Allah.
  12. I wonder why Dayniile hasn't yet retracted the story.

This kind of sculpture isn't a new kind/genre of art; it has been in production since many decades ago, especially in the movie & entertainment industry. Many of the scary aliens you have watched in the movies were made using similar technology (più o meno), plus robotics. There have always been many miracles, look at what happened in Aceh, Indonesia after the Tsunami hit, only the masjid was standing! A good reflective example. Indeed, there are many miracles, in the form of natural occurrences, that we choose not to reflect upon or ignore it. It seems many people are awed with false manmade miracles.

Ultimately, this is meant to grow seeds of doubt in Muslims. But, the fact of the matter remains, Muslims are responsible for the Quran abuses by non-Muslims. They are the means by which the Quran can and will be protected. Muslims don't need miracles. Faith in Allah is itself a miracle that can empower Muslims to defeat their enemies. The enemies of Islam are trying to further weaken an already weakened faith in many Muslims. But, they will fail, because Islam isn't a human product.
  15. ^No need to post such a picture. I could have done it, but its contents is unsuitable. In the end, searching Google with the proper query would have quickly led us to the source of the picture. The proper query is: bizarre+human+sculpture with the third result leading to the name Patricia Piccinini.

These are societies based on secularism and materialism. There's nothing they would gain from it. Even if they decide to do it, there would be a scientific explanation. There are many possibilites on how they would react. Reporting is the least likely. Besides, I don't see the point in linking non-Muslims who abuse the Quran to this topic. It doesn't help offshooting the theme.

  21. In the same site, there's a Natasha Damkina story, about a 17 year old Russian girl whose eyes function like X-rays, enabling her to see even through bones. Unfortunately, the rest of the world, including the very Russians, isn't reporting about Natasha Damkina. There are similar stories at Alnilin.com.
  22. The transitional president was sworn on October last year. 4 months from now, a year would have elapsed. And before you know, a few years would pass, and a new reconciliation process would commence (this time, maybe at Addis Ababa). The end result? Not much has been achieved. The lessons? An opposing group can ruin a transitional president's plans. Who loses? The poor, disaffected, disadvantaged, weak and etc. It seems the end to the cycle is far away.

If you look carefully at the picture in question, you'll note it's blurry. You'll also note Omani officials have no interest in taking such a picture and making it available. In the future, before you post such a topic, verify it. How can you do it? Check major Arabic sites. Also, verify it against Google News by using proper queries. For instance, I searched in the link: Oman+girl+Quran. Go ahead and try it. BTW, have you seen the WEEKLY WORLD NEWS circulation sold at supermarkets? Do you believe the stories they write? Like this one?
