That observation isn't of nanotech science.
  2. What makes someone a Somali is the fact that he/she was born and/or raised in the geographic location of East Africa, i.e. Somalia. It can't be that someone is of particular ethnicity, as there are many ethnicities in Somalia. It can't be that someone speaks a particular language (Somali), as there are many other languages (Maay, Bajuni, Mushunguli, Arabic, Urdu, Italian, etc).
  3. I would say someone who has read and absorbed million(s) of words is an intellectual.
  4. Mr. OLOL, seriously, what can we in the diaspora do about those horror and sad stories from Somalia? Donate what we can to individuals like the little girl whose story you have posted here? How many can we help? I don't think many. And the problem is still there. The problem will still keep coming. The problem has to be solved at the root level. Can we? I doubt. Because simply, we are far from organized at a basic level. And I think it has to do with our background, our cultural & clanish upbringings. I think we have to learn how other Muslims who live in the diaspora are organized and emulate them. Just because Muslims who have successful organizations or organizational skills are of Pakistani or Ghanian origins doesn't mean we can't emulate their successes. A departure from the old ways of thinking and action is in order.

How you term it Mohamed´s "Ummah" reminds me of the decommissioned Mohammedanism term. there can NEVER be One "Ummah". There will be One "Ummah", insh'Allah, and it wouldn't matter the existence of tiny groups within or outside it. Personally i beleive Muslims will never unite behind a single size of the "Niqab"´s eye openning in diameters I wouldn't call that a belief; more likely a thought.

  7. On a second note, where would a Tech Corner be posted?
  8. Originally posted by Fidel: mine is really not open source. Yours is more than open source; its core is based on the BSDs (mainly Free & Net), whose license is too generous (you can close the source and claim it's yours). Of course, its gui part is closed, however, Darwin (an open source) is based on the core of Mac OS X. May be you should create a Tech Corner, like the Troll corner, and be the resident techie there. People can exchange ideas, tips, tricks and solutions. What do you think? I think it should come impromptuely. I am not fond on tantalizing enthusiasms.

  10. This is a correction to how I should have posted the image:
  11. I see a number of members are familiar with the Open Source software. Let's share our latest screenshots:
  12. Originally posted by FyrKanten: They don’t have any say on anything period! Let alone to talk about some unrecognized african country. If so, would it make sense Somaliland is still seeking recognition from the Arab League? I think this was ill advised on Somaliland's part, because the Arab League is a regional organization, not a continental one like the AU or international like the UN. This reaction by Somaliland appears like a kid who has been denied an icecream. Somaliland has to understand the Arab League isn't its parent.
  13. Originally posted by hassouna: Do u classify urself as an Arab or an African citizen? The question is confusing. There's not a country named Arabia or Africa. I think what the author is trying to ask is: Do u classify urself as an Arab or an African ethnic? In that case, the question has been asked and answered many times in this forum.
  14. Originally posted by Brother: For this info, I don’t think Muslim countries will never and ever unite because of this hadith and what we see in the Muslim world recently. I think some reading of the Islamic history is in order. Throughout the Islamic history, there were periods when Muslims were weak. There was a period when Palestine and other parts of the Islamic world were occupied. There were periods when tens (perhaps hundreds) thousands of Muslims were massacred by the likes of Ghengis Khan. Yet, Muslims regrouped, fought back, and regained their prestige. The track records of the past indicate Muslims will once again unite, insh'Allah. Groups like the Druze, Bahai, Ismaili and others represent a tiny percentage of Muslim world. Some of those groups have existed for centuries, and had no effect on the unison of the Ummah. So, I don't see why one day we (Somalis) and the Indonesians, Malaysians, Gambians, Uighurs, Yemenis, Bosnians, Nigerians, Tanzanians and many other Muslim nationals & ethnicities could unite under one banner.
  15. Originally posted by Qudhac: ...only agree on one thing for the last 30 years is to never agree on anything I think they have agreed on more than one thing for the last 30 years. Let's see it; they have agreed on helping Somalia when it was at war with Ethiopia. I think, without their help, Somalia might have lost its victories against Ethiopia. ask Gadafi of libia what he thinks of the union, and you will see what an useless waste of space these american poodles are. Well, Gadafi's dress attire, green book (he wrote it in lahja) and manner of talk might be unique, but he's a secular leader, like the rest. There's not much secular leaders can do. since when have these so called arab union promised recognition for us I don't think they promised. I think Somaliland's leaders should concentrate or retry getting recognition from the UN and AU.

  17. Originally posted by Baashi: BTW, what's ur take on this? My take, Darwin's theories are dynamic theories. You could say those theories itself are evolving. As science and technology develop/progress, theories that were taken granted for many years/decades keep changing/deviating from their original statements. Some of those theories could change comprehensively, others nullified. Many theories of the past would crumble as science and technology are fine-tuned at the micro/nanocellular levels. For instance, species far smaller than submicroscopic parasites, that are a host (among other possibilities) of those parasites, could be discovered. Of course, I, like you, believe in the Divine Designer, and do not believe in an automated mechanisim.

Originally posted by Baashi: They accept that living organism evolved over time and they will continue to evolve but they reject the assertion that rules out Supreme Being "causing" this mechanism to carry on. The above statement caught my attention. I am curious; do you accept living organisms undergo an evolutionary process due to the environment, for the scope of adaptation? For example, the African elephant differs (some physiology, also aggressive due to living in the wilderness) from its Indian counterpart (docile due to having been domesticated). Another example; humans who live at a higher elevation (mountains) from the ground have larger lungs (helping to breath efficiently at such altitude) than their low elevation counterparts. There are other examples, but I think you get the idea.
