I hope you succeed abaayadiis. You encourage me to better myself. Give it your all, and have trust in yourself and Ilaahi subxaana watacaala.

Don't you think it's racist? It definitely pissed me off wanneer ze pepernoten altijd op de grond gooiden. I still have some dignity y'know, rather than picking things up from the floor. Or is it with you, I'm getting free candy, so who cares? Ik was eigenlijk een paar dagen back to Holland, vandaar dat ik zo laat antwoord. And got back just in time BEFORE sinterklaas started. Sinterklaas is every year a day after my birthday. So today I'm gonna sit back and enjoy my day, act like I'm special, & forget the st*pid Sinterklaas hype Actually I'm fresh from Holland, studeer sinds een paar maanden pas in uk, dus dit wordt alxmdl mijn eerste winter zonder Sinterklaas. lol ps. I love the chocolate covered pepernoten, rather than the regular ones Darn, should have bought those before I left.
  4. Chimera, lool the only thing that I got out of your story is the fact that u used to be a dutch boy Me tooo, well not a boy, but dutch, grew up there. Sry, felt the urge to point that out. ^^ As for your little speech. Well said. *thumbs up*
  5. Blessed, I'll have to taste the garow and caano first, 'cause I don't think I'm familiar with it I'll let you know if I did end up using it or not. Not sure about the cake though. Probably not. Maybe something else as dessert? Juxa dear, you have enlightened me Burgundy & Gold looks brilliant together. A nice shade of burgundy does really look good with gold. Am definitely gonna keep that in mind. Thanks.
  6. Like I said, I didn't want to continue this topic. But cuz some of you took the time to read my long comment; so as a matter of respect I have to. Cabdi, you have RESPECT for us, and at the same time calling us SHALLOW & SIMPLE-MINDED? Correct me if I'm wrong, & I'm sure you will. My shallow simple mind is a bit confused.
  7. Aaliyyah sweety, how would Mr Adam know when I'm getting married? I don't think I mentioned a date somewhere here, did I? & I don't mind you trolling here, do whatever pleases you. I'm actually enjoying you're comments with Chimera & Malika, quite interesting. Anyways, I am actually interested in the dressing up, Blessed ^^ Should be alright though. I'm definitely going for the tailored Guntiino, thanks. Maybe a bit naive asking this, but heck, what is garaw & caano? Obviously caano is milk. But what is garaw? Now, about the white dress. I don't think it’s bad to wear a white dress, without looking at the Christian/Jewish traditions. It's just not my thing really. I'ma have to skip that. It never appealed to me nor did I have a certain urge to wear the 'white dress' on my wedding. My main concern is definitely the colours. Aaliyyah, red sounds nice. Not sure what colour looks good on me though ^^ I've got a not too dark skin tone, chocolate brown-ish I suppose. Should I go for warm colours then?
  8. loool, you guys, thanks so much for the congratz & blessings. @ Blessed: I've never actually worn a guntiino. But I've seen people wearing. Love it. Is it better to pick just one outfit, or do severals? What do you guys think?
  9. Juxa, that was what I was thinking as well. & then I heard these stories about girls asking for such large amount of Meher. It blew my mind. So if I got this right: the Meher that a man gives his wife can be in the form of cash, jewelry, or any other valuable asset. Am I correct?
  10. lol I didn't say I was gonna ask that much I was just comparing the two nooh lol Anyways, waa laga fikiraa Needs good thinking Thanks again sis.
  11. Aaliyyah: You crack me up sxbeey Femme: I definitely agree with you. & I love the shaash-saar as well. Ismalura: Thank you. & I know what you mean. But I’m not planning on to base my aroos on other people’s satisfaction. Or embarrass myself by doing what other people find ‘’popular’’. Oz: Waad mahadsantahay --- I heard from someone that he had to pay 5000 (pound) to his wife. They’re 7 years married and he paid 3000 so far. He had to ask 3 times to lower the meher. She wouldn’t go less than 5000 Cause she wanted to beat her sisters and get the highest meher in her family. Honestly, I think that is ******. According to sunnah, our prophet (s.a.w.) gave each of his wives about 250.
  12. I've never even tried the chat
  13. What are the rules of a proper nikah? && How much is a reasonable amount of mahr?
  14. Ciid Mubarak everyone! Hope you all have blessed day with your family and friends.
  15. @ Juxa: Girl, thanks for the tips, appreciate it abaayadiis @ Ibtisam: I’ll keep the pre-set venue idea in my mind, thanks sis. @ Chimera: You’re right; I’ll try not to get overboard. Lakiin, aniga waxaa ahay someone who doesn’t buy stuff that I can’t afford. No worries on that. ---- I think I’m going for a separated wedding, so ladies only all the way Hopefully, it’ll be FUN and not chaotic.
  16. @ Cara: lmaooo @ ex-military bouncers Honestly I cannot stand people who show up at weddings who don't even know the bride or groom, or heck, let's just say even the family of the bride and groom! @ Juxa: you're probably right sis, but I'm stubborn, I need to learn it the hard way. & I'm not looking for an actual Wedding Planner,, just ideas about where to get what and all, ya get me? Am not from London tho, B'ham cityy, you think it's better to do shopping there?
  17. That's just it It's MY wedding, shouldn't I have a say in it? I also want to put some effort in it y'know & like I said, I'm just trying to compare different approaches. Insha allah qeyr, I still got loadz of time, just thinking ahead xooga.
  18. Ladies on SOL, Any good wedding planners among us? I would appreciate it if y'all could give me some ideas on how you would plan a traditional Somali aroos? Or how some of the lovely ladies here already done it? From start to end. What should come first etc. What kind of food, dress (one dress, or several?), type of location, time and so on. I'm just trying to compare different approaches on it. Cheers! M.
  19. Hearing this all, yaab waaye walahi. I'm just thinking: I'm 20 as well, and let's just put the parental guidance, and the environment they were brought up and all aside. Where is common sense in all this?? Ya get me?
  20. Being naive is one thing, lakin this is just ridiculous .. There's something fishy about their story

  22. Not to be disrespectful, but people need to look BEYOND their shallow standards. There's no such thing as perfection, so why not look for qualities that matter? & I'm not saying that you should settle for less or have low standards.
