Instead of wishing for the destruction of Puntland, you should be worried about the imminent disintegration of Galmudug.The current state of GM is one of confusion, disarray, and political chaos. Galmudug has several presidents, several seats of power in just one region(Galgaduud).
Reer Dhusomareb, Reer Cadado, and Reer Galkayco don't take salaams from one another.
The power sharing deal reached with ASWJ is in ruins.
Galmudug was always going to have this internal division. There are conflicting interests at play here. The Jubaland and Mogadishu oriented Caabudwaq & Dhusomareb vs the more locally focused Galkacyo & Cadaado. The latter two can gain a lot from federalism.
Now is the time to offer reer south Galkayco(Mudug) the ultimate deal. The vice Presidency(Governorship) of Puntland, their fair share of allocated seats in the parliament, and as a sweetener, the Garacad project will be abandoned to make way for Hobyo as the sole port in the central region of Somalia. Mudug will be one.
The current state of federalism is not feasible, something needs to give.

I am great admirer of Mahdi Guled, he's a fine statesman and has carried out his duties as deputy PM rather gracefully. I've seen him lead delegations for official state visits to Saudi Arabia, UAE, India; in this current government this position holds serious weight.

That picture with the deputy PM was taken during his "state visit" in March of 2018, during the height of the diplomatic dispute between the Somalia and the UAE; giving extensive media coverage to a visit which was nothing more than a photo op. They rolled out the carpet to Governor Biixi to spite the SFG. Check the date listed under the headline!
His last visit wasn't covered in any of the Emirati state owned news sites.
