1. @Tallaabo said: I wish every Muslim protested in this civilised manner instead of acting like angry baboons so often. As opposed to what? You mean in comparison to how the civilized world and its people protest by way of say Carpet bombings; drone attacks and economic embargos (i.e. starving people).
2. It was an electrifying speech. Damn, politician! It was a speech that was said at the right time.
3. Not to sound heartless but do you guys still call yourself "kenyan Somalis"? I am really worried about that Somali community. Sounds like another Central African Republic situation.
4. @Apophis said: I think it is very arrogant for Somali Diaspora types to think they can visit Africa for a few weeks and suddenly turn into anthropologists with deep insights into Somali societies and their culture. I mean what level of mental slavery makes you believe, to paraphrase: We in the West work bloody hard for our cars, 100 inch TVs and all the other unnecessary shyt we hoard, while the immoral Somalis back home loot and rape to get anywhere. D- I think that sometimes we legitimize the "hard earned resources" of non-african nations. One set of criminals are legalized because they hold the power (economic and military). The other set of criminals are heroes to their people and criminals to western raised and educated people. Depending on your geographic location - your actions may be viewed as laudable and not criminal at all.
5. @Allyourbase said: Beyond the semantics, the prophet Lut was offering his daughters as proven above, this is beyond a shadow of a doubt in lawyer terms, lets see what bullshit the good doctor is going to bring next. Your claim has always been that they were offered to be raped and not for marriage. You have failed to show how you came to that conclusion and your posts show that you are not legally sane.
6. @Tallaabo said: Two consenting adults mean two consenting adults; there is no distinction between them. My interpretation of this story is just as valid as those interpretations of the so-called scholars who insert their own "understanding" into the sacred verses of the Holy Quran and pass them on as "what Allah really meant" to the unsuspecting masses. What Islamic Scholarship do you possess that would negate 1400yrs of Islamic Scholarship? And no, crowd sourcing and the # of likes for your posts doesn't count towards your accreditation nor as indexing for your citations.
7. Does anyone know what L.A.B means? Say if I call someone a LAB, what would I be saying? lol
8. @Tallaabo said: That is an absurd question. You made a strong statement that implies acceptance of something that the deen is explicit about. Offbase, Surely, the worst of noises is that of the donkey!
9. @Tallaabo said: This sad scenario of the prophet of Allah being in such a great distress with no options but to sacrifice his daughters strengths the view that Lut's story is not about homosexual sex between two consenting males but rather is about the molestation of innocent people, gay sex between straight men, and a host of other crimes. Two consenting males? So who is the consenter and the consented? How did you come up with such a vastly different interpretation of the story of Nabi Lut عليه السلام ?
10. I saw this on a blog and wanted to share it. From Ibn Qayyim's book Al Faweed: Abandoning the Qur’an is of various types: Firstly, refusing to listen to it and believe in it or to pay any heed to it. Secondly, ceasing to act on it and abide by what it declares as lawful or unlawful, even if one reads it and believes in it. Thirdly, to abandon judging by it and being judged by it, whether in the fundamentals of the faith or in its branches; and to believe that it does not beget certainty or that its textual wordings do not beget sure knowledge. Fourthly, neglecting to ponder over it or comprehend it; not seeking to uncover what the Speaker intended by it. Fifthly, to abandon seeking a cure or healing through it in respect to the diseases of the heart and its maladies, but rather to seek healing for such illnesses from other than it.
11. @Safferz said: I just rolled my eyes so hard my contacts popped out. Bougie broad issues and then some Who was the one that said the only thing that I like integrated is my milk with my coffee?
12. Can anyone spot the nuances in this?
13. @Khayr said: Offbase, How does اطهٓرُ لٓكًُمً which is a positive phrase (based on purity - they are purer) translate into an offering of one's daughters to be raped (an negative term)? The مُفٓسِرون have said that that ayat 11:78 was Nabi Lut عليه السلام telling his people to stay away from the lusting of the men at his house and take his daughters instead in marriage. Offbase, you haven't answered my question. The bible is not up for discussion here. You quoted ayats of quran and came to conclusions that are only supported by islamaphobes like yourself. Tallabo, you haven't answered my question yet.
14. Offbase, How does اطهٓرُ لٓكًُمً which is a positive phrase (based on purity - they are purer) translate into an offering of one's daughters to be raped (an negative term)? 15. What classical tafsir equates the word فِعل with rape? How did he condone the raping of his daughters? How in the world did you come to that conclusion unless of course you are doing your job from anti-islam cites?
16. @Allyourbase said: I am sorry but this is far fetched. What the people of Sodom and Gomorrah were punished for was not the rape as such but their choice of samesex intercourse: “And (We sent) Lot when he said to his people: What! do you commit an indecency which any one in the world has not done before you? Most surely you come to males in lust besides females ; nay you are an extravagant people. And the answer of his people was no other than that they said: Turn them out of your town, surely they are a people who seek to purify (themselves). He even went to the troubles of offering the mob his own daughters (for intercourse) instead of his male guests (angels): And his people came hastening to him, and before [this] they had been doing evil deeds. He said, "O my people, these are my daughters; they are purer for you . So fear Allah and do not disgrace me concerning my guests. Is there not among you a man of reason?" It is thus clear that Islam's problem is not with the rape itself but with their choice of who to rape Offbase, You always baffle me. I can't have a debate with insanity. I only debate sane people. Your conclusion is so far fetched that I am trying to figure out how you made those connections and rape and giving one's offsprings for rape?
17. @Tallaabo said: The story of Lot/Lut and his evil people in Sodom and Gomorrah cannot be used to condemn the natural homosexuals. In those verses of the Quran Almighty Allah told us that He punished the people of Lut including the prophet's wife for a long list of heinous crimes including anal rape(not different from what straight men do to each other in prisons), robbery, and most importantly refusal to accept Allah's apostle and the Devine message from the Lord. Gays, lesbians, and transgender people on the other hand are not guilty of those crimes (of course that is if they don't rape and rob people; and disbelieve in Allah and His messengers). So those Lut verses are taken completely out of context to justify the persecution and oppression of the gay people. Tallabo, I am curious as to how you came to that conclusion. Natural homosexuals? Can we use the same term and say Natural Murderers? Do you accept both because they are Natural?
18. These documents represent the Law Society's view of good practice in a particular area. Lawyers are not required to follow them, but doing so makes it easier for them to account to oversight bodies for their actions. So in other words, colonial rules still reign supreme. I like how totally "unbiased" the article was. You can always find objective reporting in journalism when it comes to Islam - right? lol
19. It sounds like you disagree with the "integration" and all its derivatives on an academic level. On the tangible and level of every day thoughts and desires - you accept and preach liberal colonialism . You are very much like those liberals that fight for "equality and racism" but look down upon other non-western influenced cultures and religions. You are being dishonest with yourself.
20. @Safferz said: To put it simply, I think the concept of "integration" in the Western liberal Enlightenment tradition - the tradition Canada and other states trace their genealogy to - is the project to extinguish difference/distinction, when it's simply impossible to transcend most forms of difference (see Fanon "The Fact of Blackness") and you have groups who want their difference recognized by the state. It's this logic that produces crises in places like France; the realization that not only can the state not tolerate difference, but that the "universal" concepts inherited from the Enlightenment are in fact relative and historically particular. It's also these same logics that underpinned and enabled European colonialism and empire, and in turn set into motion the conditions that produced the immigrant communities that they are now trying to grapple with. Integration (read: assimilation) is a sham, it is an ideal and an impossibility. Saff, You may dislike the terminology used here (Assimilation) yet your value system has become one with that of western liberal socieites. In other words, you believe in the "free and progressive" thinking liberal society and your thoughts are in line with them. You think like them; You dress like them; You have values like gender equality and are pro-gay. You dislike any imposition on your "freedom of thought". So what are you really disagreeing with? Assimilation, diversity and inclusion (limited ofcourse) is all but from the same narrative - the dominant liberal worldview which is American and Euro-value centered.
21. You are a bunch of saps for reitrating and reposting garbage from the media.
22. I am guessing that you just had some sheesha and are hallucinating. Maybe I am wrong and you are always hallucinating.
23. Saff, How did you get him deported from Hargeisa? Tell the story!
24. Tallabo, Could you point out what parts of the talk that you disagree with and why? I posted this because we are in an era of mass confusion and the western ulama are changing their tune to be in harmony with liberal values.
