1. I watched this movie a little while ago and was absolutely disgusted by its portrayal of Somalis. How the hell do you agree to be cast in a movie as a bunch of dark as hell, ugly and dumb adoons. For a bunch of dollars, they ended up denigrating Somalis as a bunch of idioatic apes. Here is the message that I got from the movie: - Somalis are "pirates". - Somalis are dull and very stupid. - Somalis are very unkempt and are messy. - Somalis make for some dumb criminals. "Come on over, the Somali elders are coming soon" said the marine (while sharpening their knives) - Somalis are thiefs because afte all the big white mans ships are in neutral waters (lines that they blur and realign - at their will). Meaning that when they are stealing from you, they are in "neutral waters". - The white man is very reasonable. - The Marines are always and I mean always (yankee side) justified to kill anyone and all in anywhere on this earth. - The white man is always smarter.
2. You know the idea of polygamy in somali households in the diaspora would solve some of these issues. So many picky single women aging like bad fruit and so little stable men. Narrow the widening gap and accept reality as possible co- wives (still independent in your own ways).
3. Sounds like mental colonization aka western values of pseudo gender equality, being better then all other peoples values. The sheer arrogance of white people and the never ending inferiority complex of african people and more specifically - Somalis (Slanders more so).
4. Galbeedi, Go get your own blog to rave and rant. Btw, congrats on your kids graduating and doing bigger ans better things. It definitely ain't easy to do that.
5. @Nin-Yaaban said: Jamal Osman seems like he accomplished a lot in life...if he has spooks making offers for houses, cars and nice paycheck. LooL. Thats nothing to complain about Too bad the Feds here in the U.S don't do such a thing, I guess i am stuck in my minimum wage job until they come knocking and offering me to become a spy. And then it would be.....'Halkee saxiixa' (where do i sign). Funny thing, I never knew that they had layed you off in the first place based on your posts.
6. @Alpha Blondy said: what about a Somali Muslim? will he/she ever become an Arab? Your premise that Arabs don't consider us Arab citizens in their lands and therefor; they are worse, is invalid because it assumes that Arabs and say in this case, the Colonial Brits, are making the same claim - claim of citizenship and equality. Arab nations and in particular Gulf nations don't promise you citizenship and becoming their equals. On the otherhand, the Brits have promised citizenship and equality to all those that migrate to their country and "empires" as a whole. There is an inherent hypocrisy with the latter.
7. I am confused by this article. What is Islamic knowledge/education?
8. I would ask the photographer if the photo was all worth the pain and peeling skin. Btw, how would it look on Instagram? lol
9. We will always be viewed as "second class citizens" in non-native lands. A British passport will not change your "Muslim DNA". It really doesn't offer any protection nor privilege to Somalis. Yeah, you can try to travel around the world but at each airport, you still will be a potential suspect and pulled from the queue, awaiting for an ever impending investigation on your "Muslim DNA".
10. @Alpha Blondy said: many Muslim charity projects fail because they are run by bearded akhis who are calooshoda u shaqeeystayaal. if the Muslims just paid their zakat there wouldn't be poverty, maha? balse Muslims are greedy and selfish, when not blowing themselves up in jihadist operations. in western countries, there's hardly any poverty but in the Islamist countries - there's so much poverty? why is that? You really are a courtjester. Thanks for confirming it.
11. @Mooge said: I like Mo Farah. he is a good guy be he must distance himself from any terrorists projects. What exactly is a terrorist project that a muslim charity would take on? Please enlighten us.
12. @Safferz said: You have the strangest interpretations, Khayr. The Quran itself regularly invokes the scale of the universe and of Allah's creation (the lord of the worlds ), yet when the same information is given to you by an American scientist, you react with moronic and archaic geocentric babble. This is the same scientist that said: Life is but a momentary glimpse of the wonder of this astonishing universe, and it is sad to see so many dreaming it away on spiritual fantasy. Sagan was not in awe nor humbled by the thought of رب العلامين (lord of all the worlds). Rather, he was in awe of the pimple on his nose (that is as far as he could spiritually see). Meaning - his own opinionation and conclusions.
13. What it does is makes our values pejorative. All is relative because we are a spec of dust. Well, that is an absurdity that takes away our accountability factor. The Earth is "our center", our reality and the rest of the world revolves around that for us (psychologically and ontologically speaking).
14. Why expose yourself to further arrests and embarrassments? Photos like those above would give any corrupt Kenyan officer, a reason to arrest people and ask for even bigger bribes. Please be objective with your responses and don't hurl insults at me.
15. They look silly in those pictures. If they weren't arrested before, they will now be arrested because they are causing "civil unrest" aka they are publicly complaining to the world. I really feel for them though. It is so sad!
16. The problem is that they are sending mixed messages. Mixed messages give room for personal interpretations.
17. @lemon said: Very absurd of him to parallel homosexuality with getting a tattoo. To whom are you referring to? Why is the comparison between homosexuality and tattoos an absurd one? - They are both accepted norms and values.
18. These Ulamas are not the inheritors of the prophets.
19. @Alpha Blondy said: celebrity sheikhs are weird. they're made up of idiosyncrasies. Indeed, their is some wisdom in what the court jester says.
20. But this is a product of how they have been cognitively conditioned with regards to this issue. Ironically, some of the most spiritually elated people are scientists who identify themselves as atheists. This is because they do not approach science assuming they have all the answers. What does term cognitively conditioned mean? - It denotes that someone lacks cognitive freedom i.e. Intellectual freedom - It means that muslims are "backwards" in thinking by holding on to "medieval" ideas [pre-evolution era] - It means that muslims are anti-intellect. - It means that muslims have not adopted modern norms and values. As if the "google"'crowd haven't been conditioned to accept what google search gives them on the first page of a query.
21. @Tallaabo said: Write for him in big bold letters. I can't believe he is actually comparing civilian protest in the streets of cities and towns and an open war between enemy factions. What is your definition of a "civilian protest"? Who are these "angry baboons"? And who defines what is an acceptable form of protest and what isn't?
22. @Alpha Blondy said: you can win against the whites by upholding the laws of their country. sadly your kind are to busy issuing fatwas and brandishing jihadist placards like attention fiends. ta kale, if you ignore them, they cease to exist, maha? You know you are like a chihuahua - small with a lot of hot air for barking.
23. Btw, I only listened to the first 7min of the speech. Saff, thanks for alerting me of the rest of the speech.
24. @Tallaabo said: As usual you are comparing oranges and apples. How so? You made a blanket statement that reflects your biase and prejudice towards traditional muslims by using the despicable term of angry baboons. All I did was comment on your statement. My comparison is valid. You haven't given me any reasoning to say otherwise.
