Now, I have to wait another week and I already promised to pay off a creditor with the proceeds coming from this check. I got dupped with that 'wait till next week' line. Who do you all thing is gonna get the money? This lady is real good. Who was her teacher-J.lo, Liz Taylor? She's definitely a P.I.M.P. and baakorata ummabaxna to show it, if u feel fill me.

Salaamz, Here is some sunnan with respect to making du'a. 1. Always start with the Bismillah and salwat 2. Read Sura Sura Al-Imran, V. 26 "Say, O'Allah Lord of power Thou givest Power To whom thou pleasest. And thou strippest off Power from whom thou pleasest. Thou enduest with honour Whom thou pleasest, And thou bringest low Whom though pleasest. In they hands is all Good, VerlIy over all things they hast power." 3. Read the Du'a 4. Close off with Salwat and sura Iklaas The rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasalima) used to make dua with his hands in several ways: a) With hands touching together touching his chest. This was made when the rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasalima) used to asked something personal from his lord. Then hands should be extending from the chest and upwards to the sky, like a beggar, b/c you are the servant and you are begging your LORD. b) Some times the rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasalima) would hold his hands apart shoulder length (from the left should to the right-apart) when asking for Allah's generosity. c) Sometimes the rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasalima) would hold his hands above his head, holding his hands straight up to the sky. This was the case in moments of real need and difficulty. One more thing, there is a hadith that says that You should call Allah by his names (one of his 99 names) one making du'a e.g. Oh Allah the Provider (Al-Razak) please provide us with a roof over our head and food on out table. If any nomads knows more, please feel free to post it. Fi Amanallah

Salaamz, You know me and a friend of mine where talking the other day and we were talkin about summer time and how our ibadah just drops. The summer is fun and the weather is warm and the women are out in the plenty in the streets. Its funny but its sooo true, when the weather is nice, you want to shorten your ibadah to go outside and chill with friends. Talk and reminisce with them. Fall and Winter come around , and its cold to go outside, so we stay inside huddled up and now, we give time to Allah cause there's nothing to do outside , everybody else is in their homes so the masjids becomes the 'hotspot'. U agree??? I know I can relate cause this is what I have experienced. (What I also noticed on SOL, is no one really posts on the ISLAM FORUM since the weather has become warmer and the IRAQ war has cooled off!!! ISLAM-Part Time Hobby???) Fi Amanallah

Salaamz, Ask yourselves this, Is a somali person who has become Christian, is Born Christian or marries a non-muslim, considered a full fledged SOMALIAN??? ISLAM is so imbued into our culture and our thinking that we just associate Culture with it. Yes, the deen is imbued with Arabism which has formed our habits and thoughts. You can have a Somali Islam (Just like a English Islam, Pakistani Islam etc.), which is dominated by the habits and traditions developed by Somalians, but I can't see myself calling someone Somalian who is not Muslim or practising Islam. I would like to add more inshallah and answers Positives questions at the end of his first post on this thread but I need to get back to work. Fi Amanallah

Salaamz, Positive, can't help but wonder to ask this question: ARE YOU WRITTING A THESIS PAPER/ESSAY cause the way you presented your thoughts reflect that. If you want us to help you with your thesis, you're gonna have to put us in your footnotes and give us the proper credit, walaal.

Salaamz, You know from reading Nur's threads I found that the nomads just sit on the back bench and just 'clap' for him everytime he posts something. Its really disenchanting for any teacher/lecturer etc. when they give a lesson and no questions are asked. It shows a lack of interest!!! So inshallah, what I want to know is whats the difference btwm Sadqa and Zakat? Cause I'm sure many nomads don't know the difference. Help me out here NUR, cause Sadqa was one of the appetizers that you had on your menu. Fi Amanallah

Social Debate: My observations on the character of the Somali individual
Khayr replied to QUANTUM LEAP's topic in General
Salaamz, Shaaqsi People can give you umpteen responses and have many answers to your questions but I'll tell you this (I've been told by older brothers), the questions you ask and their answers lay inside of you. The only way really and truelly inshallah, that you can get answers is by reflecting on your self and your many imperfections and inconsistances and we all have them, walaal! You might wake up a mumin in the morning, curse all day and fight with someone in the afternoon, say that you'll stop praying salat by asr time and when Isha rolls around, pray all your salats and ask for istigfar and inshallah go to bed a Mumin. If you are not a struggling believer with yourself, then most likely you won't look at yourself and actually see that sometimes: You might be a follower and not a leader, or are a good muslim in the mosque but are too embarassed to show your islam at school or work Reading books and listening other people won't help you. The real work is in finding the answers within yourselfs and daily life pattern. Hope inshallah that this makes some sense to you. Fi Amanallah -
Rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasalama) said: 'The Ulama are the inheritors of the Prophets' Salaamz, I think that nowadays, that the Ulama are not given their proper due respect in the muslim community. Their authority is belittled and are only used for Weddings, leading Salat in the Masjid and Funerals (Hmmm, Christians treat their Priests/Pastor the same way!!!) I think that it is very important to respect the Ulama whether new or old. In the Islamic tradition, the closer the Alim is to the time of the Prophet (salallahu caliyhe wasalama), the greater their authority. Thats why when any issues come up, we look to what the Ulama have said (and we usually look starting from the Ulama closest to the rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasalama) to present day). A sure way to respect the Ulama is to learn about their life and works. This inshallah, will help to cultivate a greater understanding of that Alim and their work. In anycase, inshallah, I just wanted to provide a link to a brief biography of one alim. If anyone has more information on this Alim please share it with us. http://www.jamiat.org.za/isinfo/tirmidhi01.html

Salaamz, You know its a hot azz summer, so after the Salat and the Qira, its BB's aka Blockbuster to spark my mind (right!) (Were sooo damn lazy down here, so we prefer movies over books-anyone have this mental fatigue too sometimes!) Anyways, I seen 'Bringing Down the House' tonight, anyone seen it. Its a 'Heavy' movie ainn'it (Londoners, am I talking with an accent or what!) The movies had some jokes. Favorite part was the old women singing the slave song at the dinner table-LOL!!! By the way, did anyone know that Colin Farrell was in both Daredevil and PhoneBooth (I found this out embarassingly when I was asking for someones opinion on these movies and they asked me 'Boy, you must be a Colin Farrell fan' and I said 'No, never watched any of his movies-LOL!'

Salaamz Just wanted to ask the male nomads in here. What age do you think that a women would be too old for you to think about marrying? Say you're 30 and a 27 yr old Halimo comes around your way, would you snatch her up? You know a womens body does change dramatically as she gets older. If you had a choice btwn the 27yrs old or a 20yrs old, who would you choose (taking into account hypothetically, that you are attracted to both of them). I have a friend and he married a 23yr old sister and told me not too long ago that he would have prefered an 18yr old. I was shocked to here that but a yr or so today, I can understand why he said that. Most of my married friends have married young sistahs (18-20). Now I'm no socioligist but from my experience age has been a factor in terms of martial success. .....Yes,its only my observation and am not saying its necessarily true for ALL COUPLES on EARTH. (LADIES, PLEASE NO REPLIES TO THIS POST. DON'T MEAN TO BE RUDE BUT LET THE MEN SPEAK WITHOUT THEM FEARING RETAILATION!!!!)

Salaamz, You know Diamond Princess, you can imagine a thousand different 'IF's' like you women (and yes it is a general statement) very much crave to do, but if you keep living your life thinking of the 'IF's' and prioritize your life that way, then you are gonna be some lonely azz single or divorced HALIMOS. Hey, Mizz Lexus, why don't you go back to Somalia/Somaliland (same place to me-HOME!) and try asking these questions and see what sort of response you would get. Let me tell you this, I'm pretty sure that by asking such questions 'Inaankadha HIV Checkup baa kaarabaa', you: a) Get the Dhaacas smacked on your face by both families (yourz included) b) Bring embarassment and shame to your family for being soooo damn rude. c) Be marked around the community for you rudness, to the point that no man would wanna step to your family to marry you. Imagine if the men started asking the question 'Well are you a VIRGIN or is your daughter a VIRGIN? I don't believe it, I need to go and have a look for myself' STUPIDDDD QUESTIONS DESERVE A SMACK LEARN SOME ADAB/MANNERS and don't be like the nonmuslims of todays society that ask questions no matter how rude or intrusive they are just for the sake of curiosity. If we didn't have boundaries, then the Somali Dhaqaan would be come worthless and would be like the Western culture. Fi Amanallah

MY APPOLOGIES---NOW LETS TALK BUSINESS(child abuse issue)
Khayr replied to silent-sistah's topic in General
Child Abuse? Where has this concept come from and the need for 'foster parents' originated from? Unless parents are hitting to the point that its effecting your five senses to the point of losing them (seeing, tasting, touching, hearing and the other sense (help me out here), then its not ABUSE. Child Abuse is a too overrated and I have seen many children try to use that against their parents when they wouldn't allow them to go outside with their friends or are being punished for doing Haram things. Silent Sistah, you where right in CLOSING you thread b/c it brings about many negativities. It distrubs me when I say a young muslim being sent of to 'foster parents' who are usually nonmuslims. This is where the Muslim Community and the idea of having a Shiekh to lead a Community instead of some elected officals becomes very important. I think that the idea of relatives and yes-Qabil that children should be applied to incases of crises, if there is no closely knit muslim community, which there isn't where I'm at. You know how what shame some ****** teenager brings to a family, qabil and muslim community when they CRY OUT CHILD ABUSE to some nonmuslim who just wants to take them away and put them in a world that would destroy the SOUL of that teenager. Don't get me wrong, I am against giving children a BEAT DOWN. But you better have some witnesses when you crying out CHILD ABUSE that that can back your statement up. This is why people who make false ACCUSATIONS Destroying the FAMILY STRUCTURE brings a big FITNAH to the muslim community. -
Salaamz, You know the BLACKOUT was a definite SCARY situation especially when you come to think that if it lasts any longer, any minute now, you won't have WATER. The BLACKOUT really showed me something and that is the WILL AND DESIRE of ALLAH. In one sec., 50million people were left helpless and very much parlayzed. I was watching the reactions of people at the stores trying to 'STOCK UP' and I wondered, the first think that they thought about was trying to maintain the same lifestyle of HORRIDYING FOOD & ENERGY that has brought them to this situation. Yes, the people where Selfish b/c they were horridying things like water, ice and batteries!!! I remember a hadith wherein the diff. btwn a mumin and a kafir where being discussed and a diff. btwn them is that when a Mumin Sins, he remembers Allah and asks for forgiveness. They ayats of Allah are always clearer to the Believing Men and Women vs. the Non-Believers. Situations like this should always make you appreciate life and what you have. Saax? Seeing the long traffic jams and streets jammed packed with people walking for miles reminded me of the Qiyamah and how Allah can destroy this world JUST LIKE THAT. As Allah says in Sura Yasin, He just commands and says unto a thing BE and it shall BE. This last reflection was really scary cause come to think of, none of us know when the Qiyamah is and you know there are many signs of it and we just don't have some indicater saying 'Ok, thats the Dajjal, Mahdi and Nabi Issa' so lets get ready for the Qiymah now. Saax? One thing though that I am confident is that People will forget sooner than you know and return to their 'NORMAL LIFE'. Saying this I remember the story of Musa (s.a.w.) and the Bani Israel. When Musa left them for a while, the Bani Israel went back to their old ways and started worhsipping the idol of a COW. By the way, Can you guess what question is all over the news-HOW MUCH WILL THE BLACKOUT AFFECT THE ECONOMY???

Nin-Yaaban, I didn't have in mind fathers in their 20's more like fathers who came to the West and are in their 40-65 age ranges. I've also heard the excuse well, people back in Hargeysa like Grandma, and the uncles need the money. I'm sure some of you have heard that one before.
