The question remains unanswered. It is a specific, direct, and munaafaqad-proof one! Castro has tried to answer it. But unfortunately he went off on tangent. The fact of the matter is that Ethiopian withdrawal has been addressed and surprisingly enough addressed to the ASR’s satisfaction. Tigre mercenaries will exit in due time. Just as they demanded, a specific date, time table has been marked on the calendar. Whether that materializes or not remain to be seen. Looks like an extension is immenant for obvious reasons. The important milestone that should be noted is that both factions are willing to compromise. TFG gives up Tigre mercenaries and demands UN blue helmets in return for security reasons until permanent settlement on the core issues of the conflict are negotiated. UIC leadership accepts temporary deployment of UN blue helmets and in return demands Ethiopian withdrawal from Somali soil. They wanted a date and they got one. Unfortunately we are not there yet. This will take us back to where we were before the two sides locked horns. At the table are a laundry list of difficult and humongous issues that have monumental implications of how the civil war gains/losses will be addressed and how post-conflict Somalia will be led. Islamic state, federal state, strong central-periphery state, regional autonomies with loose connection to the weak central state which kind of government will Somalis have!!! At this juncture what the UN rep is trying to attain is a ceasefire and end of hostilities so that matters of large importance can be dissected to everyone’s satisfaction. But hey SOL sipping-latte fat cats want to deny folks on the ground a clean break because their conscious would not allow them to see TFG survive. As to the restless secessionist kid on the marathon I will say this to him: recusal is in order. For you have irreconcilable conflict of interest in all of this. The agreement ICU leadership signed in Djibouti calls for united Somalia with its territorial integrity intact. As proponent of secession, your wailings are regrettable but nevertheless understandable. UIC and ASR views on the territorial integrity of Somalia are nonnegotiable. Have you given up the secession boy? If you haven’t, I don’t know what to make of your incessant doc ka yeernimo in the middle of a fight between two factions that insist on preserving Somali unity.

Therefore, everything must be done to reach out to all those opposition groups, particularly the military arm of the ARS whose influence cannot be ignored. Name one reasonable and practical thing that should be done in order to bring them to the peace process dirrin? Sophist awoowe think through on this one.

Kashafa our resident Kelligii Muslim, Awoowe the reason the courts offensive is a war of choice is they said so. They vacated Mogadishu when Tigre merceneries and their guides approached the city. The reason they did that according to their spokesman at the time is because they wanted to spare maatada. Somehwere along the way, they discarded that moral principle -- maatada in loo turo.

My man Xiin, awoowe let it slide. Oodweyne is venting and what a better place to vent than SOL forum where spewed cantrabaqash of any sort will find a loyal cheering from some corners. Awoowe his is what Akilli Faratelli the Italian resident there would have called la stessa vecchia canzone The contest between fish eating Kismayo manly man and Camel herder of the frontier twon of Oodweyne is a non starter Enough said. Ladies and gentlemen if anyone ever wanted to see hypocrisy and double standard at work, read this page. The comments posted here are garden-variety dishonest. The nerve of some folks!!!! The nerve!! Look what happens when the TRUTH is subjected to warmongers’ sophistry!! Feel sorry for the naïveté who fall for this gimmick I mean why cry foul? Is it because your poster boy agreed that Somali conflict preceded the Tigre troops presence in some parts of the country and their very involvement in the conflict is indicative of the depth of Somali problem? Is that it? I will have you know that Sh. Sherrif cannot guarantee peace nor can he end hostilities what he can do (actually did), however, is expose the agenda of some of old faces of this conflict. And boy did he or did he not dealt a lasting blow to pseudo nationalists and their ally kelligii-Muslim squad. Absent of valid and reasonable case against the need for negotiated settlement, the warmongers of SOL are reduced to seek shelter in unsubstantiated characterizations: dabodhilif, soldout, and what have you. As to the agreed text itself, awoowe all it says is that Asmara Alliance are open to discuss a path forward and are willing to negotiate with the opposing faction for ways and means of ending Somali tragedy provided that Tigre mercenaries leave Somali soil within defined and agreed time. Given the level of hostilities and the absence of agreed framework in managing the state, Sherrif also agreed with deployment of blue helmets. That’s all it says. Nothing less, nothing more!! Who objects this? The very folks who said that they are against the dirrin process for one reason: Tigre presence in Somali soil which they equated with occupation. Now Ethiopians have agreed to pack up and head west, they cry foul again. They oppose Sherrif now because he said he will hold fire if Tigre’s exit by other means is feasible.

Nice geeraar right there. Since Ngonge is lacking in that department , Please hold your fire for Xiin. He will give you a run for your money. As to Bokero, Awoowe please and please understand the bottom line of this conflict. This is a Somali conflict in its roots -- a one that’s clannish in nature. There are cases where temporary coalitions of convenience are formed but by and large this conflict is the classical tribal conflict (modern twist in its manifestation) where power and resources are contested. Awoowe how the would-be state is controlled and staffed is what’s at stake here. All other variables are secondary to that central preoccupation. Somalis are no different from other conflict-ridden countries. Somalis’ problem is and has been for quite some timse now that they are egalitarian in nature and that they have this deep reservation about the role of the government and those who lead the government as well. Given how last government staffed key positions, managed meager resources under its control, and led the state, they have every reason to be skeptical about the next one. So the default political orientation is that clans are equivalent to political districts and the basis of political dialogue is clannish in nature -- so far. There are exceptions of course but by and large overwhelming majority believes that the best way to secure clan interest is to have a commanding seat (not a mere presence) at the table. That, my friend, is the backdrop in which all political machinations, clan skirmishes, seeking assistances from rival and historical foe, secession, founding of regional autonomy in Puntland and what have you operate. How to end the madness? You asked. Well there are two options. And only two options. Madness as you aptly put it will end if and when one side of the conflict overpowers the other and wins the war outright. That’s one scenario. The other is to bring all factions to the dirrin and have them negotiate a just and practical settlement. The problem with the first option is that defeating one side of the conflict will only lay the ground work for another costly (both blood and treasure) conflict down the road. Which side should win given the clannish nature of the conflict? Informed and objective Somalis would not commit to one side of this conflict and rightly so. The second option is not the ideal solution but is the only practical solution I can see now. There you have it awoowe. Do you want to end the madness? Have the warring sides negotiate a settlement. Remember the settlement itself, the mechanics, the terms, negotiators, and the venue in which the settlement will be held are open for constructive criticism or correction for that matter. What you ought not to be doing is advocating a more blood path.

^And Ethiopians are on their way out. Lets see who blocks their exit! As the cry-baby aka Kelligii Muslim here you are, tearing your heart out in order to convince the rest that you are better Muslim than most of us! And how do you show that! You advocate for Muslim-on-Muslim blood path You are busted baby boy. Sorry awoowe the caravan has moved on. The leadership are trying to find a way to mend broken hearts and end the animosity between brotherly folks gaalku qoryaha isugu dhiibay. You Kelligii Muslim and the other brothers who wish Ethiopia to stay on are alone on this buddy. Ramble on! ONLF are lions who fight for a cause. Theirs is war of necessity not a war of choice. They are better off having Somalis reconcile their differences. We love them. We root for them. Our hearts goes out for them and we keep them in our prayers.

Xiin awoowe you probably know this but I will say it anyway for other readers' benefit. Oodweyne is a partisan clannish animal. He is not rooting for Sharia governance. He does not want to see strong, stable, just, all-inclusive, and united Somali state be reconstituted ever again. Yet he is rooting for Col. Aways wing of Asmara Alliance -- a self declared Islamist and nationalist. He wants to have a friendly relations -- neighborly sort - with Ethiopia. He is for rounding up, incarcerating, and ultimately trucking those who fight for faith, freedom, and family to Alambakho! ONLF fighters, unlike insurgents in Benadir, are engaged in a do-or-die kind of struggle. Yet Oodweyne explains that one away and pours his heart out for Col. Aways' refusal to hold the UN and other observors on account in expediating Ethiopia's departure and bringing this costly (both blood and treasure) conflict to closure. He is no different than Sean Hannity or Rush Limbough, the party animals doing their best in explaining away all that is wrong in their advocacy for the hopeless policies of the Neocons. Sh. Shariif and his counterparts in TFG need to be commended for job well done. UN is now on the hot seat. We expect them to deliver the goods. I for one have a hunch that won't be the case. Somalis are ready to put this conflict to bed. UN and powers pretend that they will help us do that. We have Memorandum of Understanding ready for the ink. We are weak, we need help, and we depend on the generousity of UN and other entities. If they fail us, let it be known that we are being sandbagged.

But why? What's the point?
-
Ayaan darro! Talk about getting your priorities messed up. Puntland cannot take care of its own militia and yet it acts as if it is a state capable of handing out assistance to other friendly states. Not a smart move.

They are just deviants trying to fit in. Homosexuality is no different than bestiality. Both are a form of sexual deviancy.

What a joke! -
The question stands. Are you open for extension if that's what it takes for getting to promised land?
-
^The answer is NO. The warmongers want to see one side of the conflict defeated by any means necessary. Period! Alleviating the suffering of the innocent folks caught in the crossfire and preventing the spread of another disastarous Baidowa-like event is not in their agenda. NG, the short answer is yes. What is your point anyway? Xiin, awoowe don't oversell this one. Remember Col. Aways is not on board and his public pronouncement resemble that of Maj General Jackson's famous quip against US Supreme Court Chief Justice: "John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it." If Col. Aways and his supporters are after Ethiopia, Ethiopia is leaving soon. No ifs or buts. The only question is when and how!! That's a substantial concession given the demands of the Alliance!!!!!!!!! This MOU is sanctioned by UN and observed and attended by regional entities and powers-that be. If they are after power and leadership of the state, they either must defeat their opponents (whom they get support from and how is immaterial given stages the civil war has put Somalis thru) outright or negotiate a deal with them. If they are after Sharia-based governance they need to create the consensus and mend the fences-- you cannot impose that paradigm shift on divided, abused, exploited masses with open wounds and unaddressed greivances. Waxa intaa u dhaxeeyaa waa maa la yacni. Sherrif gets it. Sh. Umal gets it. Sh. Caddow gets it. Sh. Mustafa gets it. Sh. Gacameey gets it. These men are the top of cream, hail diverse regions of Somalia, and are dead opposed to Colonel Aways, Turki, and Mansuur approach to the issue.

Sweet! Welcome on dirrin board . Give it a try, it might work. Dirrin proponents of SOL’s optimism carried the day . How sweet it is to hear him invoke Hudeibiyah treaty -- a clear precedent -- as a justification for negotiating peace!!! How sweet! That salvo was for the enlightened folks’ consumption. As for the rest he seemed to be saying that they deliberated on the issue and reached the conclusion that ‘house divided against itself cannot stand’. I dare say it is highly unlikely for having blue helmets deployed within the timeframe spelled out in the agreed text. Sharif made a huge mistake for not making clear that the 120 days is not a feasible timeframe and that clause is not a make or break clause. There will be logistical hiccups associated with UN troops deployement. He and his wing need to be flexible on the timing issue. Awoowe whatever it takes to evict Tigre mercenaries should be the motto. How many of the warmongers in the house are for extending the timeframe if doing so will attain the ultimate goal -- evicting the Tigre out of Somali soil?

Jokes aside, it is not practical to govern informed polity equipped with today's gadgets not to mention the centrality of internet in everyday transactions. Gotta be practical ya Xiin. There is 101 hackers publication available at Barnes & Nobles. Flip couple of pages and you will be invisible
