  1. Not even 7; how about 5 functioning ministries with real portfolios to match?
  2. Waar Burco daaya, Tho' I like my all Somali cities and towns alike, dusty, desert or not, I must admit Burco is by far the funniest, where one could hardly tell the difference 'ween the city and country folks. And if not being confronted with 'macawis', cow boys boots to match, and a 'budh', and not the thinly decorated, stylish 'bakoorad' one sees in other parts of the country, which, as I discovered, is the deadliest weapon one could have in a city, not to mention the sharp, edgy 'abley' everyone seems to carry as a fashion accessory, in all fairness, it is no match for the Qardho: king's den of which sole weapon of use is its civility, 'kaftan dhable' and 'hal xidhaale'. Nonetheless, love to Burco, warps and all, Till then,
  3. Come, come now old Xiin, Keep us not in suspense, tell us what is cooking?
  4. Dear lady, Now, why would you go and mock other's cities, if you do not want others mocking yours? "Qardho is reer miyi" And what has Qardho done to you to deserve such derision, dear one?
  5. Rather clever actually; never thought Ayoub of all people had that in him; o' well, well done mate,
  6. Thank you sir, even tho' it would be rather difficult to rejoice with the general still at it with his hand up in the air in protest, one could hardly get a lull in that respect ;--)
  7. Well done to all, The simplicity of the flag: no hard colours to reproduce, no fancy art work, yet Somalistic and holistic; And the significance of the emblem: native, yet bold embodying the conventional Punt sentiment. Che - this is not a beauty pageant, but a symbolism of the State,
  8. Hey chaps, I have been standing outside Ladbrokes all afternoon, and no sign of my spoils ;--) Could someone do the honours in collecting the winnings from the SOL bet dodgers, please, as sure predicted I the final 2 cum the winner of the tournament? Or else I shall sue SOL for non-compliance. Till then,
  9. ... waxaana ku guulaystay hanashada koobka ciyaaraha gobollada Puntland ee sanadkaan xulka kubadda cagta ee gobolka Bari kadib markii ay 2-0 ugu awood sheegteen xulka gobolka Sool. http://www.radiodaljir.com/view.php?id=513
  10. The Zack, What they, whomever fed you that line of reasoning, did not tell you was that in the Cismaniya, which is the indigenous manuscript of Puntland, the equivalent of letter 'P' is actually one of its consonants unlike the current Somali one with which you seem to be measuring with the said reasoning; get it?
  11. Ouuch, I felt that hook in my ribcage mate? "daltabyo waa nooc minal buufis :') sow sidaas maahan Dotoore?"
  12. No, it is not 'caligii'; it is 'caallihii', which means the 'not so good' or 'loser' in this context. I am sorry did I make the mistake of thinking you were a city lad?
  13. Lughaya, eh? And what would these pirates supposedly from Puntland doing in Lughaya and Saylac?
  14. Is that all? These are just the 'hooris' lyrics mate, There is a whole song by Waaberi band featuring Cigaal which is, if not mistaken, about 5 minutes long. And btw, it is not 'caligii', it is 'caalihii' meaning 'caalle', get it?
  15. JB, Both variations are correct (cug/cub - regional, if you will, and it's easier for me to say the latter - sort of flows off the tongue unlike the former which requires a bit of an effort ;--)). Do you recall the rest of the song? Always in the mood for a bit of footie mate,
  16. Bari vs Sool in the final, and my bet is still on Bari; I am afraid I shall have to bet against my lads from my home town; Bari is indomitable. Let us see who wins: red meat vs sea food ;--) could not resist.
  17. A herd's boy saves the day - if I am not mistaken this is Hudiso, and if so, this could have had some disastrous consequences. _______ Security forces in Somalia’s breakaway republic of Somaliland have seized a sack full of explosives left near a bridge that connects between Bur’a and Berbera in northwestern Sahil region. According to Abdullahi Ismail Ali (Irro), Somaliland’s Interior Minister who addressed the journalists at Ministry offices, the explosives were left in the bridge near Dubur village attime when top Somaliland officials including ministers were attending the inauguration of Qoyta town. Irro said that a herds boy has informed the Police about the sack, who together with a Swedish de-mining agency called Hallo Trust successfully secured the explosives. more on the story
  18. One of my old time favs. BB King (maestro at his best) feat. Tracy Chapman - 2 of the finest non-commercial maestros in the music industry. The thrill is gone' Old school. Joni Mitchell Some memories ...London in the 80s; ritz streatham, hippodrome, old nation, spiders, the eagle, and some other joints; wonder if they are still 'round; o' well, Mica Paris Addendum: And on the Arabic side, one never gets bored:
  19. Come on mate, I am hardly irritated by Amin Amir's past time, for I actually like his novice, plain humour; after all I am a Monty Python fan, if you get my drift.
  20. Ii Cub Caliyow, Cirka Canabey, Car waa maantaba, Car waa maantaba, Caalihii ay Ceebtu Raacdaayeeeeey, Anyone old enough to recall the lyrics of that famous song? Till then,
  21. Ngonge, I thought I said all one could possibly say on the matter, no?
  22. Sophist, I would agree, and I even know some of them; but then again, there was even a player from Sool who was playing for Mudug. "Miles, some of the players from Sanaag are native of LasAnod." This would be interesting, would not it?; I am envisaging Sool vs Bari, and am still betting on Bari to lift the trophy. "It would be interesting if Sool and Sanaag meet at the finals."
