You're opposition to the legalization of drugs is due to the incurred costs of drug habits, which smokers, for example, pay for in the form of exorbitant surchages on cigarrettes. Yet you've decided to discard that peice of evidence because you don't pay it yourself (which is the friggin point).
  2. Apophis;911950 wrote: Why would you though? A smoker is basicly paying 60-70% tax on cigs. Where should that money go to? To support you, the non-smoker? Exactly. The tax revenues gained would more than cover any incurred health care costs. That's assuming there will need to be extra expenditure, which is debatable. Think of how quick the court systems would be without the redundant and petty drug offences, police officers could tackle more serious crime and the cost of jailing drug offenders would evaporate overnight.

The obese put a larger strain on health care services than anyone else and they make up a much larger portion of the population than heavy drug users ever will.

I'm in Computer Science/Physics and the prospects are pretty good for programmers in Toronto as there is booming startup scene here. If you're a petroleum/chemical/geological engineer you're best bet is to head over to Alberta, Sasketchewan or Northern Ontario as they are resource intensive and starving for engineers. A word of caution though as the engineering proffesion is rather restrictive in Canada in comparison to the United States. If your in the trades then you're pretty much set. There is a huge shortage of welders, machinists, millwrights etc. in Canada and tens of thousands of migrants (primarily from the Phillipines) every year come here to fill it.

PS .. in our days calculators were not allowed in exams, you gotta work out everything, those days students have it easy , they take fat scientific calculators to exam.... Haatu, now if you ask me about a Mole!, I would think of the edges of a mole, its color, progression etc.kkkk not about chemical mole. Tonight was a cliche to me... My calculus class is proof-intensive so calculator aren't allowed (they're not of much use anyway).
  8. When has a drug ban ever been successful? Khat isn't exactly hard to find in Canada, neither is heroin for that matter.

I believe Somalis from Africa, for instance Kenya, are much better academically compared to those who were either born or have grown up in the west. You're the one who decided to use the word I.Q. If you're going to lend any credibility to that term then you should see this list: National IQ Estimates
  10. Cramming for a calculus test while watching Netflix, plan on doing the same tonight.
  11. I don't think there are clan looks, but there may be some regional differentiation. The only noticeable differences will occur if you compare groups from polar ends of the country, as can be expected in any nation. I think the biggest difference will be between pastoralists and earlier city dwellers as culture can have a large effect on what traits we select in our partners.
  12. Wadani;910617 wrote: It's not that something is wrong with Somali poeple, it's that something is wrong with Somali parenting in the western world. They raise children here as though they were still living in Somalia, and this has been a critical critical mistake and it's effects are now there for all to see. These parents were naive enough to believe u could have 7 kids, raise them in a run down crime infested and poverty stricken neighbourhood and that all would be fine and dandy. +1 Somali kids have actually assimilated a little too well in Canada. The problem is they assimilated in to crime ridden cultures that plagued the poorer neighbourhoods of Toronto during the 90's, starting the cycle we see today.

U.S immigration polices are more selective when it comes to Indian immigration. They are made up of the brightest engineers and scientists from India. Which is why they have the highest household income of any ethnic group in the U.S.

Some drunk Mexican stabbed this Somali kid few yrs back because the Qashin said he hated Mayetes. They don't congregate in to neighbourhoods like they do in the U.S and we get very few of the illegals here in Canada. It's similar to the differences between Indians/Pakistanis in the U.S and Canada.
  15. Nin-Yaaban;910608 wrote: Wow, there are Mexicans up there too? There goes the neighborhood. We have more of a mixed bag here in Canada. They're Guatemalan, Colombian, Argentine etc. I've met a few in my neighbourhood and I've always wondered why their countries could be so violent when they seem to be the nicest people on the planet.

I also think Somalis are the bravest, most courageous people in Africa, nay, the world! Lol. If you're going place any value on IQ tests then you'll be happy to know that Somalis and Ethiopians rank among the worst in the world.
  17. Why do all these studies make it appear as if the Somali diaspora is unique? There are countless other groups who have fled civil war and are now flourishing here. The Hmong are an excellent example as their community in Canada was riddled with crime and unemployment but they've turned it around in the last 20 years. We don't exist in a vacuum and the benefits of that is that we can observe the successes and failures of other communities in Canada. I guess there is cause for celebration as we no longer have the lowest graduation rates in Toronto, Spanish-speaking students do: TDSB 2011 Cohorts

It's that connection you feel towards all Somalis irrespective of their country of origin. Its the automatic urge to get up and say hi to the random Somali whom you see in a train in a place where you least expected to see one. Please don't, it gets annoying after a while.

The author describes Imam Ahmed Ibrahim Al ghazi struggle as one the Somalis were defending Somalinimo against the Ethiopian, which is not true. Imam Ahmed and the conquest of the Abyssinians was strictly an Islamic Jihaad had little to do with Somalinimo.juqatiluna fi sabililaah. The Imam was not fighting for Somali galbeed at that time the Somalis haven't even fully moved in those area's. Allthough the vast majority of the Imams army were Somalis, but there were also afar Muslims Muslim Shewians Arabs hararians Gurage Muslims and even Turks. There was never a Political Somalism struggle or a Somali empire it was mere a experiment in the early 60s and mid 70s. Somalinimo if you ask me has little to do with Politics more with culture and traditions songs poetry. So people need to really redefine what they mean when they say Somalinimo. I think Somalis may have been on the cusp of unification when the Europeans arrived. There seemed to be an expansion in the size and number of sultanates and self proclaimed kingdoms in the 18th and 19th centuries.
