From 1965 to 1979, Rhodesia (its original name) was one of the most wealthiest nations in the world and was the bread basket of Africa. They managed to do that with economic sanctions, boycotts, riots, rebellions etc..
From 1980 onwards it has been a hell hole. Don't defend the indefinsible!

The only downside to eating pasta in the Somali region is that Somalis, like most Africans, eat with their hand. I made quite a fool of myself trying to eat spaghetti with my hand!No wonder the Somali word for fork is of Italian language origin.

Out of control youth
Religious fundamentalists
Piracy
Famine
Never ending civil war
Flow of welfare/benefit claiming immigrants
Anarchy

.Good on Somaliland for making it easier to invest in their region and I hope it becomes more transparent. Also, the development of infrastructure should be a priority alongside Education.

But seeing these ridiculous clothing makes me sick. Hopefully there will be saviour in the form of a political party which advocates secularism and equality for women.

'Why did Somalia not develop world class infrastructure after the Italians left?'

Which category do Somalis belong to? (ethnicity)
and
Come back when Somali-Americans do incredibly well in their education and finish their doctorates/PHDs at a higher rate than the population average. Kindergarten result do not mean anything (yet).
