A few weeks ago, I planted a young sapling in the garden at Villa Somalia to raise the issue of deforestation, and it got me thinking - what does a young sapling need for it to grow into a strong, healthy tree? It needs to be supported with a strong stake; it needs to be watered and fed; and it needs to be protected from animals that try to eat its soft bark and kill it. And so it is with this young sapling we have all planted, called Somalia. We need support; we need assistance and investment; and we need protection from those who try to knock us over. The first period of growth is always the most hazardous; where the most support and protection is needed. i had two of my friends over this evening. i invited both of them but also knew they didn't like each other. i didn't play referee nor was i the social glue that bound them, together. i just put my headphones on, you know. they were forced to interact in the end. i went on an insulting rampage against a particular tribe once. little did i realise, two of the four people present were from 'that' tribe. OMG....i was so embarrassed. i didn't issue one of those fake apologies. i just left, safe in the knowledge that i wasnt a fake. every so often my tribesman and friend, would remind me of this incident but i've come to appreciate the lesson, i learnt from the experience. my resolve is stronger now than ever before.......ee sida uula soco. firstly, i'd like to say congrats to Big Sil for boycotting the London conference on Somalia. obviously, we're not Somalia so why should SL attend these begging-bowls donations conferences...... over the next 10 days, i shall be pledging my oath to the cause again.....and hopefully, i'll be able to come up with new 18th May Resolutions. if y'all have any ideas, please share, ma garatey?
