  1. Everyone has his or her little weaknesses, whether it is the morning cups of coffee that help you to open your eyes, or your cigarettes (which you shouldn’t be smoking). In either case, if your system depends on them, you have to go through a weaning period before Ramadan by trying to decrease your intake of caffeine or nicotine; otherwise the first days of Ramadan will be tough. In the case of nicotine, wean yourself now and determine to give them up completely and forever in Ramadan. ... If you are on medication, it is imperative that you consult your doctor to see if you are permitted to fast and whether you need to reschedule your medication. Prepare yourself now so you can have a happy prosperous Ramadan!
  2. What Should We Do in Ramadan? There are some important things that we should do during Ramadan to take better advantage of this month and to achieve its real purpose, namely, taqwa. These are some reminders and they are all taken from the guidelines given to us in the Qur’an and Sunnah. 1. Niyyah (intention): Remind yourself again and again that you are fasting in obedience to Allah. Be sincere in your intention. You want Allah to accept your fasting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whosoever fasts in Ramadan with faith and seeking Allah’s reward, all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Al-Bukhari) 2. Sunnah: Observe the Sunnah in fasting. Take the sahur meal a little before dawn and end your fast at sunset. Observe all the rules of fasting. 3. Wara’ (avoiding everything haram or makruh): Be conscious to have halal food, halal income, halal relations. Avoid watching bad TV programs, videos, movies, etc., always, but especially during this month. Keep your body and mind very clean. Avoid wasting your time in useless things and pursuits. 4. Qur’an: Spend more time with the Qur’an. Read Qur’an every day. Try to finish the whole Qur’an at least one time during this month in your own personal reading. Read some Hadith and the books of seerah. 5. Prayer, supplication, and remembrance of Allah: Pray on time and observe all Prayers. Do not ignore the Tarawih Prayers. Make more supererogatory prayers. Do as much worship as you can. Do more dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and du`aa’ (supplication) for yourself and for others. Make tawbah (repentance) and istighfar (request for Allah’s forgiveness) as much as you can. This is the best time for devotion and seeking Allah’s forgiveness. Seek the Night of Qadar by special devotion during the last 10 nights of this month. 6. Zakah, charity, and generosity: Be very charitable and generous. Give more and more to help the poor and needy, and to help good social and community projects. Be good to your friends and neighbors also. Let your non-Muslim neighbors and co-workers know that this is your blessed and sacred time. 7. Good behavior and relations with others. Try to be extra kind and courteous during this month. Forget your quarrels and disputes. Reconcile and forgive. Do not get involved in backbiting, lying, cheating, and anything that is wrong. Be very good to Muslims and to all human beings. 8. Reflection: Think, reflect, and plan to improve the moral and spiritual condition of your own self and your family. Think about any wrong things and sins you may have been doing and correct yourself. Think about any deficiencies you have in your Islamic observances and plan to change yourself. Think what you can do for the Ummah and for humanity to make this world a better place for everyone. http://www.islamonline.net/English/Ramadan/Heart_Softening/School/10.shtml

    Rant on SOL

Fahiya Start a lively discussion and the rest will contribute if they find it interesting enough. Besides I agree with you when it comes to the politics section. That place is a foul. Besides Ramadan is on its way. So see you in the Islam section
  4. Dee I was trying to avoid just jumping in at the deep end, you know testing the water, check out who is going to cry or complain, the sensitive bunch etc, the sexist, the naacas, the kibriyaan before hitting everyone with the harsh reality ahahahah. Somalia truly changed ya! It was like when I got on a bus (caasi) in Boosaaso, the kirishbooy said 'haashaa kulila'!
  5. Hammerman There is sophistication to her [lily]. But then that is my impression of most girls on this board. Why dont I meet people like them in real life?
  6. The secularists have made a religion out of their secularism. They were against someone with an islamist background becoming president even if he claims that he is willing to follow the principles of the secular state. This is analogous to barring a non Islamic person from becoming president in a democratic country with an Islamic constitution where on paper anyone can become president.
  7. Salaam aleykum br Nur Number 3 and 4 sound good to me.
  8. Say Goodbye to Europe MICHAEL FREUND Jan 10, 2007 LAST YEAR, after the publication of statistics revealing that 30 percent of German women have not had children, Germany's family minister, Ursula von der Leyen, caused a stir when she said that if her nation's birth rate did not turn around, the country would have to "turn out the light." And while Europeans may be busy everywhere but in the bedroom, the Muslim populations in their midst are proving far more expansive. As columnist Mark Steyn points out in his must-read new book, America Alone, "What's the Muslim population of Rotterdam? Forty percent. What's the most popular baby boy's name in Belgium? Mohammed. In Amsterdam? Mohammed. In Malmo, Sweden? Mohammed." ISLAM, BY all accounts, is the fastest growing religion in Europe, spurred by immigration and high fertility rates. According to projections by the US federal government's National Intelligence Council, the continent's current Muslim population of 20 million will likely double by 2025. JPost I know the above is out date but these people are petrified. Not sure why though as we are the most uneducated, undisciplined, low income earners people in Europe. How are we meant to takeover the world? cajaa'ib.

  15. Answers as I expected. But can you help who you fall in love with? I think love is a gimmick. Personally there is nothing in between Lust and Caring. How long can a love sustain with in a marriage? I cant say that my parents love each other after 35yrs. But they care deeply for each other. There was lust at the begining, than caring. Khalal You are forgoven bro. You just gave me the giggles for calling me a teenager. oh them old days!
  16. Mademoiselle, Enjoy your break. But where exactly are you going? Coast of Brava? where is that? Val For your back ache, the following is a suggested list of helpful exercises targeting several areas of the body: Neck: Neck Rotation: sit or stand up straight. Turn your head from side to side without moving your shoulders or upper back. Hold 3-5 seconds, repeat 3-5 times each side. Shoulder Rolls: move your shoulders up and backward in a circle. Repeat 5-10 times. Chin Tucks: sit up tall and look straight ahead. Slowly tuck your chin in towards you (like making a double chin). Hold 5-10 seconds, then relax your chin. Upper back: Shoulder Blade Pinch: with your arms by your side, bend your elbows to 90°. Squeeze your shoulder blades together downward and backward. Do not let your low back arch or your head move forward. Hold 5-10 seconds, repeat 5-10 times. Pectoral (Chest) Stretch: place one forearm against a wall or door. The elbow should be level with the shoulder. Turn your body away from your arm. You should feel a stretch at the front of your shoulder and into the chest. Hold 20-30 seconds. Repeat 1-2 times each side. Lower back: Abdominal: sit with your buttocks against the back of a chair and tighten your abdominal muscles by pulling them toward your spine (flatten them and avoid pushing them outward). Keep your chest relaxed and continue to breathe normally while you hold the abdominals tight for 10 seconds. Repeat 5-10 times. Low back extension: stand up with your feet apart and place your palms on your lower back. Gently bend backwards, letting your back arch a comfortable amount. Pause 2-3 seconds, repeat 1-3 times.
  17. Originally posted by -Lily-: I don't know why ppl think it's sweet or hot to see anyone cry? People only cry (or they should) when things are going terribly wrong. How is that 'sweet' or 'hot'? As for the man in the article, he should be fed to hyenas, simply pathetic! Lily Do you cry when only bad things happen? I cry at every opportunity i.e weddings, reunited people (i bawled when I used to watch Suprise Suprise with Cilla), 2 people declaring their love for each other, taraweeh prayers, when people are kind to me for no reason etc.
  18. Oh..and my first impression of Ghanima was the SOl version of Del-boy. Finger in every pie. I dont know how I got this impression. Val My impression of you was: Headmistress with a whip and a cutting wit.
  19. Genuinely nice?? Is that all? Translation: Bland. I tried very hard to give out the impression of SOL's cajuuso! Sadly It didnt manifest. I'd take Jacelbaro's assumptions anyday!
  20. I'd say manual. At least in the UK, if you passed the manual test, you are allowed to drive automatic. But if you passed your driving test with automatic, you can only drive automatic. So why limit yourself? I honestly havent tried to drive automatic yet, although people say it is easy. My husband now bought an automatic VW, but for some reason I am scared to drive it incase I look for clutch and hit the break..causing major accident!
