  1. It’s really sad to see that and I wish her all the best. However, I have seen many stories like this, displaying shocking images to get people to donate. Questions need to be answered first such as, what will the money be used for, is it for surgery? I think there are many cases in Somalia and many more to come – the coastline of Somalia is being dumped with hazardous materials. I think the connection should be made between children being born with deficiencies and toxic wastes. I showed the link to my co-workers and one of them was a volunteer doctor in Hergeisa told me that she has seen a 20 year girl old give birth to a four legged baby. What we can do is advocate and challenge people who let corrupt businesses and governments dump toxic wastes in our homeland. A coalition is needed to get environmental ngo’s on the bandwagon. I doubt giving couple of bucks will solve the problem.
  2. Friday, just got to work, the office clock is slightly ahead, had to show my boss the actual time on my mobile and tell him that I’m not 6 minutes late. Zeph & Org you’re not alone, I was beyond tired and I didn’t have time to get coffee on the way to work. Reality shows have become yesterday’s news, they have to come up with something intriguing these producers, because I’m getting tired of cheesy reality shows. FF I can’t seem to find another remedy for you, but I’m sure you feel better by now.
  3. ^^^^^ LOL @ bring pepper sprays I don’t think it would get that out of hand, the whole point is to put some faces on SOL names. 7 of 9 – what alliances are you talking about, SOL is not a political nor is it an economic establishment. Who would get hurt?
  4. Mail me a piece of your hair, couple of chopped nails, and a photocopy of your hand. Now take a sock and stuff it cereal [the ones with raisons] and make a knot at the bottom with a goat’s intestine. Take a razor or a pin and draw some blood, and let couple of drops land on the sock. You wasn't supposed to eat that sh!t. Besides all the ingredients came from you, accept the intestine and the sock, did you eat the sock? Now to get cured, you need turn on the stove right, get a knife, heat up the knife, get a can of tomatoes, some mayo, some chicken soup powder, for flavour add cinnamon if you like, mix them all in a cup and microwave for 47 seconds, make sure you cover the cup. Take the knife, slightly remove your shirt and grip it with your teeth, cuz this might hurt a little, while its hot make about 1 inch marking on your belling, do about 17 marking all around, it’ll hurt a little, but it should save you. Now drink the shake in the microwave, and rest for 2 to 3 hours, make sure you jog afterwards. Btw, where did you find a goat’s intestine in such a short notice?
  5. The baby strikes again, that little kid instilled a lot of order around these parts, especially with those one liners in cap locks. Executions are never fun, SOL is like a subsidized housing projects, one person has moved out, I hear there are about 300+ people waiting to get approved, guess we’ll have a fresh one soon. Btw Admin, when is the next cafis program going to start?
  6. FF You’re being chased because your hard to pin down maybe? You should mail the sock to the people that are responsible for the customer service on the block department. I forwarded your story to my street therapist, and they forwarded your account to the delinquent dreams division, those punks always take days before they fully respond back, and they always deal with the customer service people, damn the administration. But word is that some old lady on the street has taken a liking to your story, she is a freelance interpreter, but she requires you to send her some money, or just send milk with the cereal, and couple of sweeteners, not sugar. Secondly, to go back to a dream just close your eyes and imagine, mentally put yourself back in the picture and remember just close your eyes and count back from 19. While you stuff your face back into the pillow make sure you smile, and let your ears wiggle a little and scratch your left leg with your right one, bring one arm over your head and slip it under the pillow.
  7. Fidel Not even, I spent 2 years in Otango, that famous refugee camp in Kenya, man the farmers used to set the camp on fire – those fires were fun, and I remember the gang who used to wear baggy pants belted up to their chests. The local hang out used to be in a little corner of the camp where they deep fried fish. I remember we used to line up for meat on Fridays from the Red Cross, and yes I did eat from those bags that they throw from air planes that you see on TV. You can make lotta shit from that. I remember when I was there it was the first time I saw white people on jet skies, I though they was walking on water on the other side of the camp, they had cottages there. We used to wave at them.
  8. Fidel I’m not sure if I follow where you’re going with this, but my street therapist asked for that sh!t. FF next time continue with the dream, its fun to watch your own dreams.. I sometimes.. replay dreams and change characters, but its sucks when you fall from a building or get shot. You can often change dreams.. but I have yet to change this dream where I ‘m fighting in Xamar on a rooftop, when all the sudden the roof gets ambushed and I’m bushed down. I’ve only managed so far to shoot back while falling and shoot the guy who pushed me off, and that alone took couple of years – cuz some dreams don’t reoccur on daily basis, they come when they choose.
  9. ^^^^^^^^^ @ LOL I don’t’ think I’ve ever declared that on here, nonetheless, I’d like to be kind to animals nowadays. Back in the day I used to take medicine bottles and take grasshoppers and other insects and put them inside, freeze them in the freezer and reheat them back up in the oven.
  10. ^^^^^^^^ FF You will be a successful far right-feminist with a seat in the Somali government. You will reinforce our cultural traits that were lost in the West when you gain power [the image of Michael is your Somali culture stabbing you in back because your running from it – hence when Michael became white] What we can do is this if you like what you hear so far….
  11. Tuujiyee **** nin soo joog laga waayo soo jiifso aa laga helaa**** Jamaal I think I will put the meet up idea on the backburner, there are too many people here with too many hostilities. Merely mentioning the idea has got many nomads already going at each others throats. I think the meet up would be more dangerous than the BET awards. 7 0f Nine I have a hard time believing that through reckless qabil discourse, people actually get hurt. Then every local coffee shop or Qat-chewing houses would be on fire by now.
  12. I figured the pig might have offended some people, but I will bring it back and floss with it like an old throwback jersey.
  13. Brown are you asking me if I drink alcohol, I don’t’ drink, and I don’t plan to start, I’ve seen what it does to people, it’s an addiction. the question you should be asking is this What can brown do fro you
  14. That’s what you get in Canada, the I’m okay your okay attitude – why couldn’t it just be a melting pot like the US. People are more likely to succeed there, whereas in Canada people are grouped into special groups and categories. Some groups have more rights and privileges through affirmative action programs. A Somali girl is likely to get hired faster than anyone, A. because she is black B. she is Muslim, C. she is a female.
  15. You are pretty awriight Yourself. Mellow kinda guy Brown, they call me mellow yellow only when I’m on something - apart from coffee and Qat.
  16. In the former it is advicable that you invite smart, outwardly-thinking and progressive individuals only. I thought SOL had these kinds of personalities  I think it would be rather difficult to get people to show up, because they might not want to interact with nomads in summit style meetings – they might be concerned about their privacy. Some nomads prefer and are comfortable with impersonal communication. The purpose is of this form is promote progressive ideas, brainstorm solutions, and critically analyze prevailing social issues in the Somali community. We have been part of this forum and we have exchanged ideas, our political beliefs and some have been offended, but nonetheless, this is by far the most regulated, rational, responsibly run forum in sphere of Somali websites. I’m suggesting we take this gathering into the physical world, where we are able to share, and work together to establish projects and perhaps recruit likeminded people. I’m assuming that nomads on this site are individualists only coming on the site to stimulate their heroin-like addiction to anything Somali. Our culture and way of life is somewhat based on a collectivist ideology, the nomadic way of life, sharing stories and life experiences. Jamaal Past meetings, what did you guys do and talk about? Sky Toronto would be the ideal city in Canada to hold a meet up.
  17. In Canada people are labeled and organized into groups – we are Somali-Canadians here. In Canada is you can be accused of being racist if you call someone ‘African’, you have to call them Somali-Cdn, Nigerian-Cdn, and etc. Whereas in the US it’s a melting pot, and the only ethnic brands that are prevailing are African American, general Americans (whites) and the Spanish community. Somalis fall under the African American label – the side thing is that many of the Somalis in the US, hate, and disassociate themselves from African Americans.
  18. That’s not a bad idea, is everyone willing to fly to my location – or we can all pretend that we're eating burgers while we post.
  19. Lets hold it in North America, why London? Minneapolis anyone? Toronto? Columbus? I think the best way to create a network would be through the meetup.com website, that way SOL members are able to geographically organize and meet up on regular basis.
  20. This is my #200 post on SOL, finally – I would like to thank all of you for engaging me. I know this is not a big deal some of you are pushing 2000+ area, but lets not forget, I have read most of those posts in the past, but never contributed. I hope to add about 500+ posts in the next 3 months …. Happy 200th post anniversary to me.
  21. What’s with all this backroom meetings I’m hearing, I must have missed the memo Nonetheless, I was merely suggesting that people on SOL might want to communicate and engage each other on the outside. I mean I see people on this forum as being rational, and progressive and many of you will be doing something extraordinary for Somalia in the future, so why not communicate with like minded people in a more ritualistic form. I was told there was a party in London, or rather a meet up – So I’m just saying maybe…. we should hold a BBQ or something along that line. What’s the damn harm?
  22. LayZieGirl Give me some examples, apart from DSC [Dixon Somali Crew], and you can’t call that intentional violence, because most of the time they were defending themselves. Unless your talking about little fights or arguments at Somali jams – that does not constitute destruction of ones life. In other words Somalis are not known to be trigger happy murderers in Canada. If you still think otherwise, please give me examples. I know there have been one or two cases in the past and that’s not enuff to legitimatize your claims.
  23. The Somali communities in Toronto need to get together and fight against these kinds of acts. There are many questions that need to be answered. Why can’t Toronto police stop all these violent murders and shootouts? What needs to be done? What are the solutions? Goonle Bringing ex-murders to Canada will not solve anything, it’ll just make our community look bad. Somalis aren’t known for violence and destruction in Canada, lets keep it that way.

    Meet Up

This is a website which allows people with similar interests to meet up. Any nomads part of meetup.com and if you are what groups to do you belong to? I belong to several business, graphic/web design and marketing meet up groups. http://www.meetup.com We can create a SOL meet up group
  25. Thanks for the recommendation Foxy I just can’t believe I haven’t read this book couple of years back, my life would be profoundly different today. I spent the last couple of years preparing myself to be a labourer for some company, you know the playing it safe route. By reading this book and several others, I’m not able to pursue my personal/business goals without having to worry about financial liabilities.
