  1. One of the basic human intelligence is to live with your surroundings.

Multi million cubic meters of water end up in the ocean every year, and the Nomads living in the area struggle getting water for their livestock. It is decades late, but as they say better late than never.

  2. Well, that is what someone living in the south would have told you in late eighties.

We have seen how Muse Sudi started his community protection mentra in Madena market area, and ended up becoming the infamous warlord in the area.

Boasting guys with RPGs in and around Cerigabo is foolish and short sighted to say the least. The guy you portrait as a hero seems warlod in the making.

Northern Sanaag is just like any other area, it needs things like development and rule of law, for a meaningful life (Smuggling is not one of these)

Their wishes is they don't want any state involvement in their port

activities unlike Reer Awdal who are barred from even importing oil

in Lughaya and Saylac. So in other words they are protecting their

    assets.

Salaax, That is really unfortunate position to advocate for, in this time of the Nomad history. You ended up justifying chaos and disorder at the corner of your community SMH!

There are no third ways here, if your community want import illegal arms and become above the law, they have to face the might of the state, or every other community will have their field become ungovernable.

Let me put it this way, if Ciro or anyone that share clan affiliation with your community become the next SL president. What right does the guy will have to exercise authority on other areas outside his community?

You either back the rule of law up, or choose to live in the chaos Nomads experienced past 2+ decades.

  4. Odaysomali, I agree totally with what you have passionately advocated. However, I also believe this came 15+ years late, as it would have been an ideal thing in mid/late nighties.

The is no higher moral ground for SL & PL to bang on. They had their opportunity, to do the right thing and, save the nation from the warlord polititions in the south.

Guys like Egal and Yey could have (if they wanted) saved the nation in its darkest days. But, they became greedy men, blinded by the zero sum politics of the geeljire qabyaalad.

Instead of leading from the front, they cawardly have chosen to sit behind the illitrate Gadhcas and appease them with short sighted politics based on reer hebel maxay dakane naga qabaan.

That is a lost opportinity, SL could not get recognition and PL could not succeed in dominating Somali politics. Now, they are as mentally and morally bunkrupted as the their brathern in the South.

So pls, keep off that bulshit 'we can be the saviours' aside, and let as work all (SL,PL & South central) in equal capacity, to make this unfortunate nation heal, and move forward to take its rightful place in the world.

The best place to start with is to get rid of that Geeljire supperiority crab mentality.

  5. Tell me what good critisising every leader did in the past decades? Nothing at all.

Are you ready to participate those admins, and commit your time, while putting your reputation on the line? I dont think so.

Dont forget, I am one of those diaspora who are not ready to do the above, so I am not in a position to indulge the so called Habar fadhida lagdin la fududaa critisisms.

  6. Why Puntland cant print their version of Somali shillings (100, 500, 1000, 5000) signed and distributed by the PL central bank. Instead of this stupid mass plagiarism (coloured 80gsm paper) printed in the past two decades.

They need to form proper monetary regulations, where PL central bank is credible institution that control the liquidity in the economy. Nominate PL central bank board of 11 members, giving half of the board members to the private sector and, link the decision making directly to the economy.

Once credible Federal central bank comes to light they can join it with their baggage.

All I have seen in Somalia from Borama to Galkacyo was potential, progress, and hard-working people striving. Yes, there is poverty, lack of proficiency, lack of industry, technical, skilled workforce, but a society trying to move ahead.

But despite all of that, the average person has 'qanaacah' and better outlook than those in the Diaspora.

I second that, what I have seen this year from Hargeisa to Galkacayo then to Bosaso is full of hope and gradual recovery. Those in the diaspora complain and condemn a lot, for the sake of it and, they are damn good at that.

There tactics are, visit the country for few weeks, meet the newly elected/selected guy, ask for position or any other favors. If they don't get what they want, they will hold him responsible for not solving the accumulated ills of the past two decades, as if he has some kind of magic stick.

None of them is willing to take the helm, or even spend one continuous year in the country helping local communities.

  8. Salax,

Would you care to tell us, what it the exchange rate today? ($1 = to how much SL shillings)

The reason I am asking you that question is, the author you have posted his piece at this thread, only mentioned the exchange rate in 2005 of that was $1 = 5000 SL Shillings. Out of laziness or short shortsightedness, he never cared to tell his audience what are the current exchange rates!

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure to use the SL shillings (exchanged at around $1 = 7000)

According to the Author of the article, in ten years the shilling value changed from 5000 to 7000 against $1. This must be some kind of a miracle itself, considering conditions on the ground which include, lack of recognized functioning state, poor economy and security issues.

In experience, the SL shilling interns of the the quality of the paper-note (500, 1000, 5000) was magnificent, and the central bank managed the currency efficiently, given the lack of proper functioning financial institutions.

If I had the authority, I would have made the SL shilling the de-facto currency for all Somalia and, the Central Bank for all Somalis in North, East, Central and South based permanently in Hargeisa.

The SL shilling has been resilient in the past decade. However, it can be killed if not managed carefully, by the current finance minister's late shilling only transactions tantrums.

It seems people have been fed a lot of scare stories about Reer Puntland which is being seen for what it is-FALSE!.

    !

Oday, that is right ,and the opposite is also right, where people in PL are fed a lot of scare stories about their brethren from SL and the South. If you wanna see what I am talking about, look no further than Mooge and his behavior right here, in this topic :(

The scare mongering culture of late must stop, and people should be let to travel freely, and see the true character of Nomads where ever they inhabit.

  10. It is that time of being pulled the rug from under his feet.

The medals are there for team GB to polish their long distance records, and finally London 2012 was sensational.

However, from now on, the poor Mo lad will notice slowly but surely, the true colours of the racist tabloid editors around the corner.

    Good luck to him!

  11. Well, I was just highlighting, contrary to what the Westren influenced Faarixs breach. Arab funded projects in important sectors such as education need to get fair share of credit.

Why are the big projects now? The political an economic conditions in Somalia encourage every country including the Arabs to invest in big long term projects.

  12. Arabs are not strange to doing projects in Somalia without fanfare.

If you know the list of Arab funded projects in PL alone you will eat your words back:

    - Schools such as Imam Nawawi with 20k plus stundents, Hamdan and others.

    - 7 technical and teachers training instutions (most of them mis-used and poorly run by the locals since 1993)

    - Galkayo veterinary college

    - East Africa University

    - Mogadishu University

    - the upcoming Makhir University

    - the upcoming Garowe Airport

    - The sprawling base of the Puntland Maritime Police Force

That is not even an exhaustive list, and if you look further across, Both Hargeisa Airport runway, the Airport terminals in Berbera, plus the huge orphane boarding school outside Hargeisa, and city's water infrustrucure are all funded by non other than Arabs.

Tell me what the darling transparent Westeren governments built outside the UNs neo clonism project?

Anyone know who is financing the Bosaso port project? 200 million is no small feast.

The below article (dated on 21 May 2015) from the official UAE newspaper, may answer some of your questions.

It says quote "That is why the UAE views its good relationship with Puntland, the autonomous area that makes up roughly a third of the country, as a major achievement that can spread to the rest of the country through investment in communications, media and infrastructure. DP World, the Dubai-based global ports operator, is part of the UAE’s outreach programme for Somalia and it has plans to develop three ports in the country to help boost its faltering economy."

The Bosaso deal has been signed just seven days after the article publication.
