More youth lost hope in Somaliland in the reign of war criminal Silanyo.

No job prospects + corruption +nepotism+tribalism. I can't blame them

This isn't about Siilanyo. It's about the lack of opportunity in SL and a mistaken sense of what is available in the west. When citizens don't invest in their own country and don't demand accountability from leaders - this is what happens.

It has everything to do with him because his administration failed to create

jobs for the youth. It is not logical to expect private business men to do

everything for Somaliland. Every year hundreds of Somalilanders graduate

from local universities, however there is no job market for them, it is

kinda useless.

it isn't about Siilanyo kulaha!

Leaders are supposed to create opportunities for their citizens, Einstein.

SL needs a massive birth control plan, it has a fiendish youth bulge.

Wallahi, the demographic catastrophes awaiting Somalia are just too dire and frightening to contemplate.

The famines of the early 90's will be child's play compared to what awaits this improvident people.

This is crap. Both responses. Before Siilanyo - it was not as if SL was creating thousands of jobs and youth were not going to sea. Don't let opposition to Siilanyo make you see him as the root of all the problems there. He clearly is not.

Governments don't create jobs unless it is in the public sector and that is funded by taxpayers. Already tax revenues are not sufficient for the limited public services in SL so there is no scope for government jobs. Government can only create conditions that encourage private investment and entrepreneurship which creates jobs. Then private individuals have to play their part and not run away to sea at a cost of thousands of dollars that could have been invested in the country. Europeans and others built up their own country and Somalis keep running from theirs and feel entitled to jobs and benefits overseas.

Difference is one of Silanyo's manifesto before he got elected was to create jobs

for the youth and that was one of the core manifestos of his party. If he can't

fulfill the promise he made to Sland youth then he should step down, his

government has simply failed in many fronts. The government stole millions

of dollars from the coffers, wasted it on unnecessary things. With the right

management all that could have been enough to create many jobs for Sland

youth fleeing due to lack of opportunities.Secondly you say it is the

government's job to create conditions for investment, as far as big

investments go many big companies are put off due to the election delay

and the uncertainties of Somaliland's political future, one of the

reasons even the EU that did employ locals in their offices closed

their Somaliland headquarters in Hargeisa.

You said it.

If i were in his shoes, i would spend heavily on family planning and making sure contraceptives are available like sweets on the streets.

Our fertility rates are astonishingly high, all other problems are secondary and stem from population explosion.

^Absolutely no family planning needed. We already face an existential demographic threat from Ethiopia of 90 million people already invading what is largely an empty country. Your playbook is dangerous and sounds ripped out from Ethiopia.

Salaax - no African dictator steps down no matter how failed. But there are two sides to government - the executive and legislative. Where is the SL parliament - why have they failed to hold the admin accountable? Why is it that representatives from the clans that live there are not able to voice the interests of their constituents? And why is it that the citizens don't demand accountability from the folks who represents their clan in parliament? There is whole lot failures to go around.

El Punto a lot of parliamentarians are dirt poor or were dirt poor with no morals,

so they are prone to being bribed.
