"The relations between Somalia, Somaliland and Turkey are beyond any kind of borders," Davutoglu said. "Despite geographical distance, historically we are like a family."

The minister described the first meeting on April 13 as a "historic start", where parties agreed on a joint statement to plan future talks. The statement had said country representatives would meet again in three months.

On Sunday's meeting in Istanbul, the Turkish foreign minister met ministers and MPs from Somalia and Somaliland, including Somali Interior Minister Hussein Gulled and Somaliland Trade Minister Muhammed Omar.

"We have always kept discussions on the joint future of our brothers [in Somalia and Somaliland] on our agenda, and striven to build strong bridges between them through humanitarian aid," Davutoglu said. "Irrespective of which country they live in, we will help all our Somali brothers and sisters in every possible way."

"This is our historic responsibility, as well as a humanitarian responsibility and an indispensable part of our active diplomatic policy in Africa."

Somaliland is an internationally recognized autonomous region in northwestern Somalia. It sought independence from the country in 1991 when Somalia suffered a government collapse, triggering a civil war that is still ongoing.

Oops Hiiran needs some editing lessons. Since when is Somaliland recognized internationally? As for this meeting it is just like prior meetings that were swayed by trivial details. Unfortunately there is no one good reason to believe these meetings will change anything. Somalia got issues and its stability flactuates days to day. The choices on both sides is not equally attractive. Any one can understand and equally sympathize with Somalia , however there is NO benefit for Somaliland in joining Somalia today. Those who stand to loose will fight harder to resist than those who stand to gain. Any union today will only benefit Somalia only. The most rational and advantageous choice for Somaliland is to stay in its course. Turkey thinks that having this two sides on a same table will solve Somalia problem , but that is just an error in forecasting Somalia problem.

Somaliland Is obviously not in for a unity but to cut off the rotten corpse dragging behind it that is Somalia, since it is derailing our progress.

The Turks are understanding the game now they are making a clear distinction between Somalia and Somaliland. Although they are just the facilitators and not mediators. But even as facilitators they need to behave as honest neutral grounds for these talks. Now let the dialogue continue these talks will be much more intense than the talks before. Now lets watch it the next coming days.

loool all these meetings are is the psychological preparation of a certain segment of the triangle state for the still birth of their pathetic aspirations 22 years ago, they have not noticed their worshiping of a putrid caracass.
