Runtaa, but in the same token, do you think it made people just a lot more lazier by depending on the Internet for everything?

There is this 17yr old kid, aan adeer u ahay. He has the attention span of 4yr old kid. He can't disconnect from his laptop/cellphone long enuff to really think about things deeply. He'd give you really short answers to everything, and he's very abrupt about everything. Personally, i think it's doing a lot of harm to most of the younger generation.

Technology is advancing faster than we could adapt to it. There's no equilibrium yet. Being connected to the internet discourages face to face contact but we adapt and find other venues of learning and socializing.

^Hehe sounds White-boy ha? lol..I think it is the rat race and the general distractions of too much time on distractions that makes one to stop and reflect on his life..I think I reached that point where I'm just seeing Life is Good (LG) but it can end anytime..I was one of the last person to think about death, but lately I have been thinking on making the most of my time by listening to many Islamic youtube videos...

I think the internet brought Somalis the opportunity to communicate which is a good thing. The down side is the struggle to ensuring you are not wasting your time online as opposed to working for the here after as stoic mentions.

Stoic, you are not alone, my youtube browser history is full of two things, muxaadaro arabic lectures and high tech videos and kid cartoons that my little ones watch from time to time.

My days of too much internet time is gone. These days it is about academia, research and business. I could be sitting in front of the computer all day and not check email or social networking sites. I tell you too much internet and electronics in our life these days. I did turn off my cell for four days straight about a month ago and walaahi it felt so liberating. It was not fun for family and friends tho. I liked leaving the phone home and not worrying at all. If you gonna try, one downside there is, you get home tired and only to find out you gotta go back because so and so is in the hospital or stuck somewhere.

Very good points STOIC. As for impersonating and people pretending to be things they aren't, do you see that as a problem? The Internet allows you to build a whole self around something that isn't true. I did that myself in my early day's of discovering the Internet, and this new self started to cross over into my real life. LoL, the line started to blur between 'Internetka iyo Nolosha caadiga ah.

That's true sxb. But it also has brought the evilness and Xaasidnimo out of some people. You'd read some things on the Internet that you know no one would have the balls to say it to someone else's face. Take for example Siyaasad(Politics). LoL before the Internet, people shared their views/ideas in a peaceful, respectful manner, but now it's totally different ball game.

NY..you are funny and honest. It is a problem of course if you cross the line between reality and fictional online character. It is all about confidence and self-esteem.You can fool people, but not reality. So yes it is a problem if you build a hype character and next thing this thing is creeping on your real life. I'll like to think majority of the people have self-control in mixing the two personality together. Majority of us may hold some unpopular views or opinions that we might not dare expose it in public, but somehow the internet give us this anonymity and we are brave enough to air it, but this only create false sense of security.

I will tell you what being raised as a muslim did warn me about death and what may come after we depart this life, but it took an internet Youtube clip by Professor Kagan of Yale to think death in a different way. So I think there is a great deal of knowledge we can get from this tool.

Jac..I'm hooked on people like Yaser Qadhi and many Somali sheikhs on youtube...
