Ethiopia 'blocks' Al Jazeera websites

Google Analytics shows the English website's traffic declined from 50,000 hits in July 2012 to 117 in September

Traffic to English and Arabic websites has plummeted since the network aired coverage of protests in August last year.

Al Jazeera’s English and Arabic websites are reported to have been blocked in Ethiopia, raising fresh fears that the government is continuing its efforts to silence the media.

Though the authorities in Addis Ababa have refused to comment on the reported censorship, Google Analytics data accessed by Al Jazeera shows that traffic from Ethiopia to the English website had plummeted from 50,000 hits in July 2012 to just 114 in September.

The Wayane regime is getting desperate by the day. It was jamming the VOA(The Xabashi language branch) for a while, now it is Aljazeera.

Yep, it blocks everything. Every website with the name O'gaden in it is blocked, too.

The TPLF wishes to create a quiet society it wishes to hide massive land grabbing in the South, it calls it argiculterlising fertile Ethiopian land. it wishes to hide the atrocities in the O'gaden. And ofcourse it wishes to hide the Amhara Muslim Revolution in Addis ababa. Question is for how long can they get a way with it, and how long will the US state department continue to support the TPLF.

I think the end for the Wayane regime is near. The oppressed can finally a light at the end of the tunnel. The appointment of the non-Tigrayan PM is one of the big signs.

The Zack TPLF is weakened allot because of new rebel movements Like Ginbot 7 and because of its recent fall out with several arab states. And also because the Tigrayans failed to bring on board the ONLF they thought with the talks the ONLF will Join them. And the latest the Muslim Amhara revolution in addis ababa. But do not make the mistake the TPLF tigrayans are still in charge they made 2 strong TPLF deputy Prime Ministers Debretsion Gebremichae and Demeke Mekonnen. The Tigrayans have this culture to run things behind the curtains an oromo President and A wolayta Prime Minister they fully still control the Army a half eritrean half Amhara minister of information they try to make it look like its all inclusive. Remember when meles was on his death bed the TPLF highest leaders and the European union were busy to set up a goverment and trying to find a successor for meles. They decided to have Haile Mariam deselegn and 2 strong TPLF deputy prime ministers the Europeans gave their blessings, wikileaks will expose it in a few months time. TPLF days are numbered it is true that the end is near the question is what will happen next.

Ethiopia will stay intact for foreseeable future. There's simply no organized opposition that poses any real threat. The only threat that poses challenge is the mass displacement of hundreds of thousands of poor farms that they have no where to go. Regional rebel groups like OLF and ONLF have some capacity to challenge the status quo but they are too inept and they lack real leadership.

^Ethiopia is very delicate state waryaa. Any African state has the potential to explode within few months should there be any kind of resistance, armed rebellion or civil disobedience no matter how strong or well governed it was before and Ethiopia is no different.

Zenawi was the main man, the magician and the brain behind Ethiopia and the TPLF domination now that he's out of the way the cracks are appearing all over.
