Britons urged to leave Somaliland

Recommended Posts

Fake warning. The Brits have done this because they want to show Somaliland who is boss. Somaliland has repeatedly told the international community "no" when it came to the re-unification of Somaliland and Somalia. So Cameron's administration has decided to play dirty in the realm of international relations. This may be the first action but certainly not the last. I suspect the United Kingdom to follow the United States lead and announce within the next 60 days that they are recognizing the Mohamud administration as the legitimate representative of Somalia proper and are opening up an embassy in Xamar shortly. I also predict that Cameron will announce his government's plan on consulting with the UN and the EU on economic and political sanctions as well as the cutting off of aid to Somaliland should they continue to refuse to re-join Somalia.

Metta that's not true this has nothing to do with the conference in London and the brits do not care whether SL and Somalia unite or they stay apart. It doesn't hurt British interests, the Brits approach was always we are good friends with Somaliland have relations with Somaliland, even they assisted SL with some bilateral aid projects not much but. This started in 2010 how ever their spies in east Africa probably gave an intell that there was a threat against British interests hence the reaction they gave. And this is something that happened occasionally the same thing happened in 2009 they are not willing to take risks. On recognition for SL they were a colonial power they will not take steps in partitioning in east African country. How ever even the labour goverment of Tony blair indicated that SL should some how engage in talks with the TFG of cabdilahi Yusuf in order to win recognition. But the SL goverment said that they will only talk to legitimate goverment for Somalia and on neutral grounds and as long as its being mediated between the 2 countries on equal terms. So the brits are not pushing or taking sides between Somaliland and Somalia. They repeatedly called for dialogue between Somaliland and Somalia and i firmly believe the talks will happen before may whether they bear fruit or not that's to be awaited. All in all this was just lose alarm and the brits are paranoid specially in Africa.

Oodweyne may know the likely reason Cameron government is doing this at this time.

Speculation: as recognition prospect clearly becomes unattainable, political finger pointing and blame game will start. Therefore, this could be an expectation from London that things could go dizy in Hargeysa---politically. Alshabaab are more threat to PL than it is to SL.

NGONGE

^^ Yeah. But it arrived with a different driver, different passangers and even the route was a totally different one. In fact, some would argue it wasn't even the same Caravan. :D

The Caravan arrived with the expected GOODS. Some would argue , it arrived much faster carrying more valuable goods than initially expected.

All British nationals
in Somaliland should leave immediately because of
"a specific threat to Westerners",
the UK Foreign Office has said.

What does that have anything to do with the so called threat rumors against British interests the citizens of Somaliland are demonstrating because they want express them selves saying that SL is peace and stable and the security armed forces are in full control. It has nothing to do with Koonfurians or their government.
