MALLOCH-BROWN COMMENTS ON THE FORMATION OF THE TRANSITIONAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN SOMALIA MALLOCH-BROWN COMMENTS ON THE FORMATION OF THE TRANSITIONAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN SOMALIA (12/01/08)

The Minister for Africa, Lord Malloch-Brown has welcomed the formation of a new Cabinet of Ministers for the Transitional Federal Government. He emphasised UK support for the Transitional Government, urged it to build on this positive development by advancing the political process and encouraged all parties with a stake in Somalia's future to engage in this process constructively, for the sake of improving the lives of Somalis.

Lord Malloch-Brown said:

'I welcome the overwhelming Parliamentary endorsement of the new Transitional Federal Government Cabinet of Ministers. This positive step in Somali politics will now allow the Transitional Government to turn its attention to advancing a genuine and inclusive political process in Somalia, as envisaged in the Transitional Federal Charter. We look forward to the rapid and full implementation of the outcomes of the National Reconciliation Congress last August, leading in particular to a Constitutional Process and a meaningful, fully inclusive political dialogue.

'Emphasising the United Kingdom's continued support for the Transitional Government, we stand ready, with our international partners, to provide assistance to the Government and Transitional Institutions to help deliver the transitional period. I call on all other parties with a stake in Somalia's future to engage in this process constructively. Somalis have suffered for far too long from the effects of conflict, political instability and lack of security'.

Not a mention of the secessionists.

Duke, you said it before I said. Well, someone has to make sure that BBC Somali has to translate the minister’s comments into Somali without mistake. More importantly the implication of this new emphasis of the UK government on the unity and the territorial integrity of the Somali Republic has to be correctly explained to the SNM gangs that are holding my city Hargeisa hostage because the English used to rule the northwest of the mother land.

Hi, has any body heard the rumor that Riyaale is sleeping in the White House Lincoln Bedroom? ;)

^^^Secessionists are a confused bunch, my job is to highlight the absurdity in Somali politics.

In terms of military might or number, one should not worry at all.

Rumor has it, that somaliland officials use the somali passport when they traveling to Europe and N America. These immigration officers sitting across biggest US international airports wont accept somaliland passport because it simply not in their database of nations and these guys are tough nuts to crack their national security comes first, thus you can come up with unknown passport and demand entry. Even foreign embassies wont issue visas on such passports.

As for the article, it's great news another set back for the secessionists... Progress and constant gain for the TFG.
