Somalia: Islamists claim Ethiopian officer in captive.

Mogadishu 23, Oct.06 ( Sh.M.Network) The powerful Islamic courts local administration in Jubba regions speculated on details for the first time about the recent fighting between the Islamist army and the miliamen loyal to col. Barre Adan Shire better-known Barre Hirale, the defense Minster of the Somali federal transitional government in Bu’ale district in middle Jubba region.

 

In a press conference in kismayo town, the capital of lower Jubba region, the spokesman for the Islamic courts of Jubba regions Mr. Ibrahim Shukri informed the reporters about how the fighting in Bu’ale district took place.

 

Mr. Shukri, the spokesperson told that their Islamist army has gained major victory over their opponents in the battlefield; he also claimed that they confiscated nearly 36 battlewagons together cars.

 

According to the spokesman, Three Islamist men killed in the fighting and twenty-five others injured, while there was bomb went off among seven Islamist soldiers killing at least two.

 

The spokesman also told to the reporters that they have captured an Ethiopian officer in the battlefield; he told that they would display him to the reporters in public.

 

In his the press conference, the spokesman did not tell the officer’s name or his rank.

 

This officer is one of the Ethiopian officers intended to train the federal government soldiers. Now we are in full control of Bu’ale district. He says.

 

Meanwhile, there is no word or comment from the government side of this claim.
